You are by far my favorite new mtg deck building channel. Especially for budget decks that are powerful at casual tables which is exactly what I’m looking for. Your videos are great quality and I really enjoy the way you break down the deck into sections to make it more digestible. The pace of your videos is also excellent. You don’t drag on and your commentary is fantastic. Keep it up brother your doing the lords work for sure
Just got back into commander with my friends and I'm BROKE! SO, I really appreciate your channel! These decks look fun, can stand their own against strong decks, and I CAN AFFORD THEM! THANK YOU!!!
I love the Abzan deck, but in the protection section. Maze's mantle doesn't give Tayam hexproof because he doesn't have toxic, I recommend airtight alibi instead
Pako Haldan is my favorite deck of all time. I built it on a 40 dollar budget and just slowly slot in stuff when I buy it. You are correct this thing will absolutely rock pods if people dont understand that you literally just have to keep killing pako every single turn. Love the videos!!
Hey, I just wanted to let you know about a card that not a lot of Pako & Haldan pilots use that I find very powerful in my own deck. That card is Clamavus. It is like a $0.50 card and is from the Tyranid 40k precon. He cost 4G and his effect is Creatures get +1/+1 for each +1/+1 counter they have. So, Pako is naturally a 3/3; lets say he has four +1/+1 counters on him. With Clamavus on the field, Pako is currently an 11/11. He honestly helps you close out the game & get one-shot voltron kills off especially if you drop Clamavus after the other two opponents have been killed & you can make sure Pako is safe and hopefully unblockable. I can usually Rogue's Passage of Aqueous Form the last guy for 21 damage in one hit.
@@andrewfornes5320 I like the option. I personally don't love that he is on a creature as it's one less card you can hit with Pakos attack trigger. But that's a great callout those Warhammer precons have some good cards. 😁
@@lukeferrante5279 True, I honestly didn't think about creature count because I removed most of the mana dork creatures from the 99 of my deck (really only keeping Lotus Cobra & Nissa, Resurgent Animist) I only did so, when I finally got Temur fetch lands & Prismatic Vista. I felt like I was always exiling an Elvish Mystic or Birds of Paradise. I do run Gamble, Worldly Tutor & Sylvan Tutor to be able to grab Clamavus as early as possible. I am currently trying to build each of the Partner with Bonders. Right now I am working on the Abzan ones. (Not too use to the names of others yet) I hope we get the other three color combination Bonders and their Monster as part of maybe a Return to Ikoria or a Commander Masters product. Anyways, good luck with your deck fellow Pako and Haldan pilot.
This was such a great video! Can definitely tell how much effort you put into this, you got me really eyeing up Tayam. What are your favorite Abzan commanders?
I don't see the point of 'moustrous vortex' (4:44) in the pako and haldan deck bc the only creature with power five or greater is 'etali, primal storm' and we can't cast creatures exiled with fetch counters on them...
For that Cayth deck, I took 1 creature out to put in Dour Port Mage, which is a frog that can pay 1U and bounce a creature, and when you bounce a creature you can draw. And its still under budget hot damn. That deck seems WILD.
Really interesting video. Im very new in this but your videos are well made and make it easy to follow. Would love another video for a bit higher budget like 160-250$ ♥
I like Cayth the way you built her but I made a deck built around her that worked with the creatures that give keywords if creatures have counters on them. Drop Herald Of Secret Streams and now everything with a counter is unblockable. Drop and Abzan Flaconer, now they all have flying. Abzan Battle Priest, they all have lifelink. The best part is Cayth puts the counters on the creatures so she does the work for you.
I gassed out while building Cayth because the idea entered my head that whatever I'd be doing would be inferior to some kind of Persist/Sac Engine combo, but maybe I should give building her another shot.
Hi! If one was to get into these decks, would it be most efficient to get a certain starter and then get singles? Or just pick up the individual cards as singles?
I made Tayam as a commander actually i strongly suggest DO NOT put anything that is 3cmc more if you want doubling season go for Hardened scales if you need removal go for Fleshbag marauder with the variants sooo yeh then Master chef~ for good stuff
and Tayam is a cheap combo deck the only expensive stuff he gets actually is Ashnod's altar for infect just pick the toxic creature or gives a poison counters slap a evolution sage then proli to win by Returning lands xD yep you can recur lands using tayam ability the other part of it is making Animated lands so you can spam your land creatures
and Lastly if you wanna focus on combo...just play Prison pieces...I mean Ghostly prison is 3cmc opposition agent is also 3cmc but this build is just cheap cmc but RIP wallet
Pako & Haldan is currently my oldest deck. (I started out with the Derevi & Roon precon) I have had older decks but have taken all other ones apart for one reason or another. Pako & Haldan still haven't been outclassed by a newer commander or commanders. I built it fairly cheaply when Ikoria was released. It was just protection spells, ramp spells, unblockable effects & bounce permanents or spells to the top of library type effects. If someone plays something I need, I will cast Memory Lapse on it (if it is on the stack) or cast Temporal Spring type of effects at instant speed, right before I attack. Pretty much, as the deck currently is, nothing my opponents have on the battlefield is safe. If I see something I want, I will be casting it from exile soon. I've read the design notes they post on the main site for these partners & did you know, at first, Pako was going to exile cards equal to the number of +1/+1 counters on him. I think he was going to be a 0/0 that was going to enter with two +1/+1 counters. Then have the same growing effect. Can you imagine how broken he would be if they kept that version. First attack equals six cards being exiled & he would grow from there. Not to mention you could add all of those +1/+1 counter manipulating enchantments. They changed it due to it being a bit overpowered and exiling too much stuff from your own deck for attacking people. There is a card that I run, that I havent seen anyone else have on their list. That card is Clamavus. It is from the Warhammer 40k Tyranid deck & gives creatures +1/+1 for each +1/+1 counter they have. So, if Haldan is a 3/3 naturally then has four +1/+1 counters on him, he would be an 11/11 with Clamavus out.
I have been playing pako since the precon, its an excellent deck on a low budget but I disagree with the general philosophy of your build here. The creatures you've included are fine but they could be higher impact non creatures, also the upgrades section was pretty bogged down with creatures which run counter to the strategy of the deck. The other thing that stood out to me, you talked about one mana cantrips that set the top card, but none of the ones you mention actually do that. Cards that let you look at the top card feel totally useless. Its not like if you know theres a creature on top or something you dont want to exile you're going to hold back on attacking with pako. You are attacking with pako every turn you can, it really doesnt matter whats on top. Lastly you missed my absolute favorite card with pako which is summer bloom. Really anything that lets you play an extra land is very busted when you draw so many lands inevitably off of the pako triggers. I also think leaning into "play from exile" synergies is a little weak compared to leaning in to combat effects, it also makes haldan a bigger target which sucks because haldan is actually your card advantage. This deck is begging for extra land drops, extra combats/turns, and interaction. You really dont need to play anything but ramp and interaction because the commander draws 4 cards per turn and presents a game winning threat. Cute synergy doesnt make these commanders better, killing people does.

ohh I'm building that Abzan deck, right up my ally... though ppl get salty with looping edicts
Tayam has been my commander for years now. I love her.
I love the Abzan deck, but in the protection section. Maze's mantle doesn't give Tayam hexproof because he doesn't have toxic, I recommend airtight alibi instead

The mandatory 1 mess up per video spotted! There isnt one, I can't read XD
hope you're doing well nick you're a trooper
“Step in dog shit level threat” 😂😂😂 funniest guy in magic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
good cook, good shirt, good video
Organic extinction would be an absolutely amazing replacement for austere command in the second deck that's still in budget
Thanks for the video, i think im going to get the tayam deck, checking how to properly upgrade

Cayth and brudiclad goes SO HARD
Imagine all those tokens just become hellriders.

You should put Illusionist's Bracers in the pako deck
Looks like there's only 1 target for imoti to hit??
What is a brazilian gameplay ?
monstrous vortex is creature spell only
Darn, we were so close
