I test drove one of these recently. You can never really capture the sensation of driving one in real life obviously but it is such a fun car and it feels great! So responsive.
Excellent excellent video, Nolan! Very well done! I'm absolutely loving that green exterior color, bronze rims, and tan interior seats... Too bad only the front get them (no biggy though). Also, I'm totally digging that rear wing! It perfectly suits this vehicle. Once again, well done! Can't wait for the next generation model!
Great video! I loved this car and, yeah, the green is NICE and the interior is beautiful. I love the details right down to the key glove. Hakone edition is perfect
I Love mine.... gotta say if you know what you're doing its very damn fast, more important than the plain speed is balance which the 86 murders 99% of all other stocks cars at.... I've never driven any other car thats been so predictable but still fun.... if someone wanted to go straight in a hurry on the weekend I'd 1000% suggest something different like a dodge charger but if you like getting into the curves and occasionally showboating by kicking the rear out, this is my first suggestion without a doubt
My 86 Hakone 2020 Automatic At first glance seemed sluggish in Drive mode during my overnight test drive. Put it in the Standard mode used the shifting paddles behind steering wheel. And this gorgeous Girl gets up and goes 110 mph in about 11 seconds in 5th gear with 6th gear waiting. I controlled shifting in the 5000RMP range. She purrs like a sports car should. After I bought her I saw the stop watch and Said to myself I get It. I'm 5' 9" and felt the car was perfectly built for my body style. Drove her 2 hours around the counties to see how she feels on longer trips and loved her every moment. My old body was stiff when it was time to stand up, while sitting she's a dream.
I’m in love with the color. I think the wheels compliment it well. The spoiler is okay, but I could do without it. That radio definitely needs an update though. The front seats look awesome with the two-toned treatment but unfortunately , the rear seat being black and not matching would be a deal breaker for me. My OCD would not do well with that. Haha. This thing sounds great. This and BRZ are tops in the segment IMO, even though they are getting long in the tooth. Since that back seat doesn’t match, I’d have to give up the cool green paint and go with a pearl white BRZ instead. Good job on the review!
Thank you sir! I definitely agree with all you’ve said too. I’m glad they still make these little sports cars. I’ve heard about the next 86 being boosted..is it the same for the BRZ then too do you know? I haven’t heard about any future ideas with them. Take care sir!
Just a heads up - that radio is new for 2020 and is the first radio with Apple/Android Carplay ever offered for the 86. It also has steering wheel controls. Do you just mean the graphic visuals or something else?
A really great review. A cool and amazing vehicle. The paint color is perfect for this car and I agree with you about the rear spoiler. It looks really sharp. Been stuck at home for 7+weeks. Your videos make me feel like I just got back from a nice drive in the mountains. Thanks!
Hey Nolan, Glad to see you’re doing great! Remember how the last 11 years the Mazda 6 red color became the color all car makers tried to copy and I just loved it. And I believe that the red is going to be replaced by a Nice Green. Still love the Red as I have it on my new Santa Fe’ and my Impala but I already seen a couple of brand new models in a really nice Green. You’re going to see a lot of Green coming up. Living here in the North East and as much as I would love a Miata the BRZ or 86 just makes more sense.
gene978 hey Gene! I could definitely see that. My first car was green lol. I think it can really look good in a nice of vehicles as with red, I guess we will see! Take care sir!
It's fascinating seeing one of these driven in... Texas? This is a steep contrast from SF, Cali and the mountain roads and circular on-ramps I'm driving with here. Hope you at least found some places where you can get the tail out safely - those shoulders are pretty dicey.
There is a hidden power outlet in the glove compartment in the far back to the right and it have a rubber open close latch to run the cord so the glove component can probably close
This is a sweet little ride. I love the green color. This would look good in sky blue too. Great review my friend 👍. BTW...you do a great job cutting your own hair. I think you should get your barber license and cut hair on the side. You would have a lot of business 😉.
Thank ya sir! Haha idk about that...I butcher things up quite a bit. One time The plastic clipper blade wasn’t in right and fell off..causing me to buzz a small section..so I just buzzed everything else to blend it in 😅
Excellent review!👌 Was about to buy the only 86 Hakone in my city, went to see it in person, it's freaking beautiful! but the whole covid thing hit, didn't get to buy it, now I'm waiting for the next gen! 🙌
A stunning car Nolan. Great colour combination, even the alloys are gorgeous. Wonder how easy the boxer engine is to service. If only I was 20 years younger!
Nice review. They could have saved more weight by not having a back seat. But since it has one, i wish they would match the front seats with the same color.
SO Many of these Sweet little gems are bought by those who just beat the piss out of them and ruin the little 2.0 engine when in fact this car was NEVER made for speed. It's all about the handling and the look. As much as I hate to admit of it, many of these hae been ruined by those who don't know how to appreciate a fine little Japanese gem. I love my 2020 BRZ tS and was seriously considering this version when it was on the lot. If I have a ton of money, I would have about 10 of these little babies! I LOVE THIS CAR!
Coming from a MKIII MR-2 owner, those 86's are fun to toss around but not fun enough to buy. Being routed by any modern minivan in a straight line isn't worth it simply on the fact that it's not a convertible or a targa/t-top, it needs something more than good handling, they claimed a turbo wouldn't fit but the aftermarket proved them not only wrong but they're really easy to install.
Makes me wonder how frail one's ego need to be to care about what car passes you on public roads, especially when most of them don't even know/give a damn what other people drive.
Love the color combination. The Auto industry needs more green than so many stupid shades of gray.
Absolutely!
Yeah gray is lame AF. Lemme get that pavement, or concrete
Nothing like a green car with tan interior. Classy and old school cool. Timeless look.
That color is so excellent. I love it.
Leo the short guy me too!

My favorite colors in and out. LOVE it

your video editing and production keeps getting better. steadily becoming one of the better car review channels out there. well done.
jasperac thank you very much!
No no,We can't argue with his assessment.
Excellent sports car, excellent review. More night shots please!!! Greetings
Thank you, will do!
Balance = Fun. Toyota GT86 with Synergy V8, my dream car.
I love the interior color and exterior color combo with the wheels and not to mention the overall shape --- a very sexy looking car.

💯👍
Yep it’s good for curves, drifting, staying in ur lane as you go around a bend really fast. Other cars just fast at driving straight lol
I heard the next gen is supposed to be much better. Hopefully that’ll come in this color combo too
I am from the future… sadly no
Still no
What a great green that is! Volkswagen has one similar to that. Very classic color scheme with the tan seats.

This is the best of the best of the classic 86 very fun to drive
It looks nice in this video but trust me when I say this, in person the hakone is absolutely stunning. It’s ridiculous how good it looks

Prime Autotainment that’s what I have heard. Something similar to the WRX. You take care of yourself as well!

My fav color outside! My fav color for seats!
Love this car

Exhaust Sounds are really nice and bc of that i will buy it

I actually love this color combination
This car look amazing not only in video if look from near more nice, this colour handsome look

@@PrimeAutotainment - You would be a great barber. It's different cutting someone else hair.
Excellent review!👌

I’ll hopefully be getting this car tomorrow I can’t wait
Fantastic car. I’m on the fence of buying one. Comparing this edition against 2020 si coupe
Dispite its few flaws I love it, looking to get the basic & manual , this style is great but over my level in price ...
Great video as always! Definitely this is he spec to get the 86. Also could you consider doing a night time review?
Thank you! Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to. I intended to do that with this car but didn’t get to it!
Prime Autotainment Don’t worry it’s still a great review!👍🏼
Nathan Tarbox thank you!
Prime Autotainment No problem!🙌🏼
Mine had full 4wheel drive when I push the button to turn that mode on
A stunning car Nolan. Great colour combination, even the alloys are gorgeous. Wonder how easy the boxer engine is to service. If only I was 20 years younger!
I love that green colour
Handsome little car for sure!
Definitely!
Deym...I'm in love with gt 86s but I'm more inlove with this color
Nice review. They could have saved more weight by not having a back seat. But since it has one, i wish they would match the front seats with the same color.
Dream Cruzer thank you! Yeah definitely...I’ve heard that having a backseat helps keep insurance rates down lol
@@PrimeAutotainment This is absolutely true, as a 4 seater the insurance is half what it would be as a two seater
It reminds me of the ford mustang bullit green edition 😍😍😍😍
Have to Say mine have those sport buttons, 2 diff kinds. Not sure what the vsc sport button was for
I love toyota 86 Thank you Sir.
this car is my goal to invest my money, i just wish the key fob had an 86 toyota logo embedded on it
That color at night is nice
Love that color
Me too!
Solid review!
About to wrap my 2020 kia optima in this color
Love the car... I wouldn’t have spend a G on that exhaust tho you can find way better sounding exhaust out there for the same price or even cheaper.
I've been waiting for this review (i watch your new "Honda" video :p)
It is fast. You just have to unlock it.
I like it!!!

Where did you find that leather key fob holder????
It actually comes standard with the Hakone edition. Otherwise it can probably be purchased as an accessory from Toyota
wish they offered this with the brembo package
You don’t need brembos on a slow car
@@lariosmendoza would be nice in the twistys tho, also the small visual factor
How did you get the red exhausts? They are not shown on the website
They are in the accessories section
@@TheV8superkar I've looked, all I see is vehicle protection packages
Toyota 86 hakone edition with trd exhaust
How slows the car? Whats its 0-60 time?
How did you get the trd
Being from South Dakota, never even heard of this car🤣
Brian Merrill it’s not very common...it used to be branded as a Scion and it’s also known as the Subaru BRZ
this looks too familiar. is this rockwall?
Yep that’s correct!
I really wish the brz was as fast as it looks
😔true
To bad Nissan can’t update the Z
No kidding!
The 370 is being updated actually.
これはかっこええ
thumb up for the name pronunciation correct
Id rather drive a slow car fast than drive a fast car slow 🧍♂️
Needd
Needs torque

If im not mistaken the designer said that a turbo will disrupt the balance of the car not that it doesn't fit.

Man, I find this car a blast..and what's the deal with fast minivans?? I can cruise at 80 mph so easy in the Frs
Fun doesn’t have to be fast BUT it needs to be reliable and this car has an Subaru engine that is not reliable as Toyota engine.
0 to 60 6.4 seconds! Lol
Thanks for the review. I was going to trade in my civic but this thing was cheaply made, slow and sport version on a keep wrangler interior.
Ewww
I’m 5’6” and I was not comfortable sitting in that thing. It looks nice but it’s crap. I didn’t buy it.
why were you not comfortable?
Crap Subaru engine...
