I really want the Aputure Amaran. I'm a filmmaking student but I can't afford many things. I have built a light using home use LED bulbs: imgur.com/a/5Gw1LNr It makes a decent amount of light but it's not very practical and doesn't have a battery. The Amaran would really help me for my third year (Short Film). This year was Documentary.

I'm a nurse on the Covid unit at my hospital and I wanted to record some interviews with my colleagues to document what we're all going through. I did some research and about a month or so later I have my granddad's old Canon Rebel and I'm taking (I think) pretty good photos and it's all because I somehow stumbled across your videos along with Peter and Matti's. Ya'll are the shit. Thanks!
I need a speedlight bad. I'm broke as hell and shoot weddings for a living. I've cranked the iso all the way up to 25600 to get decent lighting You know how it feels...

Numerous falls with tripods, general abuse, like just chucking them into a car and following with tripods and other heavy stuff. I don't see a reason to buy more expensive stuff. Just have a couple spares if you want your business to rely on them.

Because I need af assis, ttl and hss. But for 2 years they work fine. For price they are incredible. I don't see reason to buy 5x more expensive nikon version or Canon one. I plan to try their triggers soon.
That apeture light is extremely useful, small, bright, and easy to hide if needed. Also this video is hard to watch, pls don't put on make up again 😂😂😂

I think I can answer that issue regarding your lav cutting out. For whatever reason, my iPhone cannot handle high-gain audio. Rather than crunching or clipping you just...lose the sound. Found out about it after ripping my Tool CDs a year or so ago and after trying to listen, it kept dropping out. When I saw how ludicrously loud the ripped audio files were, I dropped the gain by -3dB and it fixed the issue. Not 100% it's related, but that might be it.
I'd love the aperture light. I shoot on my phone right now and am trying to save up for a camera. I would be able to use the aperture with my current setup.
I'm in the film academy at my high school, the Carlsbad High School Film Academy, so the (apature light) would be incredibly helpful as a background or on cam light in my future productions.
I love how you actually show a few examples of each piece of gear while also explaining some ins and outs. Although it may seem elementary to a lot of folk, many that aren't deep into it, starting out or just never thought of how to use some of these items can really benefit from this. I can't say that anything on this list is bad at all. They all have their uses and without them, you'll be fumbling around at some point or another to find a "replacement" that you don't have on-hand. Again, great job!! (= [That Aperture is probably the best thing if I had to choose as much as I do love the speed light. And I have no clue if that is still relative to even comment with. HAHA!]

In case nobody posted an explanation yet: The reason why the lav mic cuts out is because at high levels the membrane, which is one half of a condenser, makes physical contact with the opposing end of said condenser. This creates a short circuit which thusly interrupts the signal. NERDY PART: There are two possible fixes for this when designing the microphone. One would be to add some form of insulation in between the two terminals of the capacitor. While it would prevent the microphone from completely cutting out, this makes it significantly more challenging, and therefore expensive, to manufacture and it would then make the microphone distort rather than cut out, which is also far from ideal. Another fix could be to increase the distance between the two capacitor termials. Higher distance means that it takes more sound pressure for the two terminals to touch. This would resolve the issue completely but also reduce the sensitivity of the mic. This means that at normal speaking volume the microphone output will be lowered, too. The result of which is that it needs to be amplified more strongly, worsening noise performance. For camera people this is analogous to shooting at a lower F-(or T-) stop in order to prevent clipping the highlights but ending up having to boost the overall exposure in post, introducing unnecessary noise.

Can you plug in your lavalier mic straight into the camera? I did and mine didn’t work so just ordered an adaptor. I still don’t know how récord audio separately and to sync audio.
I have the same flash, i made a little extension to it and it helped me to improve my macro photography. And i also have Neewer reflector, but different shape., and i also use the rode videomicro :D

Can someone tell me why there are no vintage lenses that have 30 to 35 mm with low f stop and are low priced All of such lenses are 50mm and as an aps-c user its not so nice to use 50mm

Look at yongnuo. They are cheap but good. use them for 2 years with no problems. Also used them on weddings

Quick tip: with the rode video micro you can attach the cable to the base that has indents so the mic doesn't bounce! It's designed for that purpose.
