- I feel like the Abandoned Coffee Shop really needed some graffiti on the outside brick walls. I had to figure out a technique to fake the look of spray paint. I hope you enjoy the video!! (Don't worry... I will fix the misspelling!!)

Good thing I'm not a spelling channel! 😂 I will find a creative way to fix the mistake because now I read it as "breath" and it will drive me crazy! Thanks for the heads up!
The "E" could "bleed" over to the other wall.
Great idea and that's def one of my options... there are two 'fixes' I have in mind so I will see which one I think works best :)
Real graffiti isn't always spelled right... ;)
Always when filming, right? 😚
People misspell graffiti all the time. You could leave it and it would be fine, if you wanted.
Looks really cool... no spell check on a wall 😂 I was so distracted by the lack of apostrophe in the don't (yes I'm one of 'those' people!) that I almost didn't notice the lack of the 'e' in breathe.🤣🤣We'll all be double checking our spelling in the comments now! Isn't it amazing that with all the expensive supplies we could buy an old cheap kid's brush turns out to be the perfect tool for the job. I can't say it enough... I love your channel!❤
I'm impressed with your careful research, and how you apply it to make your miniatures look so authentic. It pays off, and is a good lesson for me as I learn about the art of miniatures. The images you chose are intriguing, and I'm excited to hear the story of the coffee shop! I bet you could put the E beneath the H in breathe, it seems like what might happen if the amateur graffiti artist misjudged the space and ran out of room.
Thank you so much!! The process research has been one thing that has developed in my art journey recently and I have found it so helpful! Great idea on the letters... I am going to start at it tomorrow and figure out what I want to do about the misspelling. It will be fun to look back on and I don't think I will ever misspell "breathe" again lol!!
Oooh! You actually have a backstory for this! That's cool. "Don't Drink" is intersting, since it is on the side of a coffee house....and you drink coffee. But I'm guessing since this is a post-apocalyptic building that it has something to do with pollutants of some kind in the water and the air. Perhaps caused by whatever catastrophe this 'apocalypse' was."
I agree with you. Graffiti can be both Art and vandalism depending on where it's done. There is actually a whole alleyway in our town designated for graffiti.
I enjoyed reading your guesses and I will be interested to hear what you think once you get to the story video :) So glad you liked the video!
It looks so good! I didn't even think the outer walls needed anything, but now it feels even more complete!
Thank you Blake! I also want to add a small water spout somewhere in the wall but that would be a quick add :)
You are doing a story too! What an awesome idea!!
Thanks Neta! I can't wait to share!
It looks great! And I can't wait to hear the story. I never really thought about graffiti before, and didn't realize all the techniques involved. Who would have thought about the nibs! Makes a lot of sense though. Thank you for giving me a new perspective and something to think about.
Thank you Heather and I am so glad you enjoyed it! It was really interesting to learn about and try to understand the line between thoughtless vandalism and an art form.
I actually interned for a guy who unofficially "retired" from doing graffiti art (he still did it, but he kept it on the down low for obvious reasons), but he had his own screenprinting shop where he did a lot of custom shirts and such for people.
He also was telling me of how he experimented with putting paint in an old fire extinguisher and attempted to spray paint with that. XD
How cool! I heard about the extinguisher trick in my research as well.... seems like that would be hard to control😮
Reminds me of an epocalypse...emp...emf...
SHTF...LOL. Great job! Love it! ❤👍
Thank you! That is a great compliment!
Excellent methods for getting that overspray effect, Ara. Loving the whole vibe of this piece...your urban touches are spot on, girl! xoxo
Thank you Heather!! I am glad to find an actual use for those cheapo brushes haha!
I am making what amounts to a 1:6 dollhouse out of bookshelves and wanted to do both a garden with koi pond and I always wanted to do a night street scene which I will probably add at the side of the bookshelf with a streetlight. This video is great...I am off to look at brick wall video!
This is so amazing!!!! So realistically and detailed. I love that sooooo much. Really good. Wow
Thank you so much! I love your name by the way!
@@BentleyHouseMinis thank you very much
Also, I deeply appreciate your graffiti explorations.
Once again, AMAZING! So well thought out and beautifully executed. Thank you, Ara . . . and have a sweet day!
Thank you so much Linda!! You too!
I am constantly amazed by your art and what you can accomplish. Big fan here!
Thank you Rob!! It's just one big long running miniature experiment over here lol!
Araaaaa!! That is awesome! I have less time now a days. 😩. But I try to keep up with your work. I loved it!!!!!
Thank you Mariza!! I always love seeing your comments whenever you have the time!❤❤
I'm working on my first book nook and in my research, I came across some cool grafitti I want to incorporate but wasn't sure how to do it. Will definitely try the techniques you've taught us. Thanks!
I am glad it will be helpful for your project! It was fun to try to figure out!
Perrrrrrfect! There is a ton of graffiti that's mispelled. I definitely want to hear the story!!! Wuvs ya & all your work!! ❤xo💜xo💙xo💛xo💖xo💚
That's very true! I will share the story soon! Thanks so much!❤❤
Well, of course it's just right, as always. I think you have given us some hints about what the story is, and I can't wait to hear it.
Thank you Jenny! I will read the story during the final walk through of the project ;) I'm excited to share!
As a graffiti fan/artist, I appreciate your research. Your replication of Banksy's stencil style was pretty good. DOES and Totem are a couple of my favorites. Rime is pretty interesting too. He has some fun videos on his channel here.
I am so glad to hear I did the art form a little bit of justice as I realize I only scratched the surface lol! Thank you for the channel suggestions!
There is a channel called "the bench" that covers in detail foundational and advanced techniques as well as artists examinations. The guy that does it is a graffiti and fine artist if you care to dig deeper or for your followers.

I am intrigued and want to know the story behind the coffee shop. Well done on the graffiti, looks kind it would on an abandoned building. You inspire me to be more creative and not try and make everything mini perfect! Can’t wait for your next live stream!🤪👍🏻
Thank you Victoria! My whole aesthetic is based around things not being perfect lol. I am so glad you are enjoying the videos!
Magnificent!!! I love it and like being surprised by your creativity.☺❣
Thank you so much Michelle!!
That is perfect! Awesome job.
Thank you Trenna!!
This is amazing work!!!
Thank you so much!
Looks amazing, can’t wait to hear the back story ☺️👍
Thank you Jenny! Won't be long now! ;)
Ara it's nothing what I was expecting! So very cool and I can't wait to hear the story 📚 Love it 💕😜
Thank you Daphne! Working on the story now and excited to share soon!
Perfect! You continue to amaze!
Thank you!!❤❤
Love you work. I really like the idea of putting the chalk into the containers. Would never have thought of that. Please tell me that you will read your story to us when you've finished it.
Oh yes I definitely will! The final reveal video for the coffee shop I will read the story as I show photos ;) I can get so much more pigment out of the chalk when its shaved as well.
It’s perfectly imperfect!
Looks amazing!
Yep, that's the icing on the cake! I watch your videos on my TV via Roku and keep forgetting to come back to my PC and leave you a comment.....tsk, tsk, tsk. But I am glad you took a renewal break. I'd hate for you to burn out and stop creating your mini's, or your content. BTW, I just got 2 dollhouses loaded with figures and gobs of stuff at estate sales. Both are vintage, but one is real vintage, with old-style rubber dolls and wood furniture. Needs a pile of TLC, but I paid $15 for one and $25 for the other. Can't beat that. When i look at the oldest one that needs love I can't help but think of you, because man, it is the epitome of a deserted old house - lol. Now all I need is the space to work on it...............OY! The coffee shop looks better every time you add another dimension to it!
I always love to see your comments so I am thankful you make the extra step ;) Those two new projects sound really fun! Some of my favorite dollhouse finds have been second hand. Often times you can get really lucky and save a lot of dough (on the house and furniture). Thank you so much!!
Turned out great 👍😀 would love to hear the story behind the project 👍
I will read it in the last episode of the Coffee shop ;) Thank you!
I love the roller graffiti! It makes me wonder if I can do that on a journal page
For sure! A lot of the videos I watched for research the graffiti artists were practicing on paper first.
Breathe has an “e” on the end. I am intrigued by your story. I want to do the same for my dollhouse.
I just figured that the kind of people who would deface a building with graffiti didn't know how to spell the word correctly. LOL
I am surprised my husband didnt catch the misspelling either lol. I have a plan to fix it (in a fun way hopefully). Thank you and looking forward to sharing the story soon!
it looks great! i think it would be cool if some of the tags were differently aged to show people coming acrossing and tagging at different times. like the BHM being bright to show someone visited recently and painted over.
Can't wait to hear the story!!
I will share it in the last video on the coffee shop ;)
It looks so good! I would love to hear the story.
Thank you! I will share the story once the project is finished. I can't wait :)
Brilliantly done, your research paid off, esp. with the incorrect spelling - not all graffiti artists are known for their good command of English! I didn't realise there was a story behind the coffee shop either, that is intriguing. The Banksy style tree is also a kind of foreshadowing of the the tree in the coffee shop - was that intended? Thanks so much for sharing as always :-) x
Thank you! Sadly I must admit that the spelling error was my own ... but I think I have a fun way to fix it that still keeps the mistake but plays on the bad spelling too. I was thinking the graffiti was probably created after the deterioration of the building because of the use of the missing brick eye socket. But the graffiti tree is definitely a reflection of that tree... but in another season most likely ;) I can't wait to share the story... it will be in the final video of the Coffee Shop project ❤❤
This is amazing, thank you for sharing your works and your research! ❤
That BHM tag was powerful
Hi! Is this acrylic? Or maybe acrylic ink? Or maybe watered down gouache? I can't figure it out!
So although, at least in England, graffiti has become referred to as tagging, it's only actually tagging when they use what looks like thier own, joined up, handwriting?
Everything is looking amazing and coming together perfectly. I'm looking forward to hearing the back story. I'm thinking it could be some kind of toxic bomb that went off and as the atmosphere has cleared a graffiti artist has made reference to that, hence the words Dont drink dont breathe. 😊👍
Thank you Karin!! I am writing the story now and I can't wait to share!
@@BentleyHouseMinis looking forward to hearing it 😊👍💖
Helpful! Thanks for this!
BHM - hey, YOU'RE the one who tagged the local doughnut shop!
I would NEVER👀🍩😄 Although I do love donuts and if you tag it you own it right?
Thank you, this video helped me a lot!
Fabulous, I can't wait to see it finished and learn the story you are writting for it 😊
Is it just me though, or are you missing an E in your graffiti?
You are right, Angela . . . but spelling in graffiti isn't often grammatically correct. I am pretty sure this is what our amazing Ara was intending.
Actually I totally misspelled it but its given me an idea to fix it. I will probably use a different color and add the 'e' ... like one artist fixing the spelling of another lol. Thanks so much!
so realistic! I am waiting for a black cat or something coming round the corner...
Thank you! Haha you never know!! ;)
Love it! If You ever grow tired of some of the graffiti You Can just paint it over with something better. That’s how it is usually done in Real Life.
Haha that's true. It probably gets more realistic with more layers! Thanks!
Perfect 👌
Thanks Diana!
Love it. I think I have figured out the story line...can’t wait to hear it from you to see if I’m right. 💀
Oh you will have to let me know if you got it right ;)
Growing up in NY in the 80's I know graffiti is both an art and vandalism. Think Keith Haring.
that's a great effect
Thank you! It was fun to research!
awesome
I love to look at graffiti on trains when they go by. I think it can look very urban and cool!!!
I love the look of it as well. It may show up on more and more of my projects ;)
It seems perfect to me that "breathe" would be misspelled! 😆
Liked the broken heart nice touch what is that story?
Thank you DeeDee! I will reveal the story soon in the final video of the Coffee Shop Series! Stay tuned!
Clever and realistic! Unfortunately my circa 1941 project wouldn't have much graffiti................but I may be able to sneak in a "Kilroy was here" in an inconspicuous spot...........its just a few years early, but "poetic" license trumps reality, neh?
oh yes you definitely should!! I have heard of several different miniaturists that hide things in their projects. It's such an interesting idea and I want to start employing it as well :) Like an easter egg in films!
I'm not sure if it was intentional but it says dont breath not dont breathe.
It was a mistake :( But I have (I think) a creative way to fix it!
@@BentleyHouseMinis great! I cant wait to see how it turns out. It is looking very professional!
Why is there a large tree inside the coffee shop? Smaller fauns would be less jaring.
NIB is for mops/markers
CAP is for cans
Thank you for helping me with the terms :)
As a graffiti artist myself it looks pretty kool..you think you can make a brick wall for me I'm willing to pay asap nice vid🤜🏽🤛🏽
Thank you! That means a lot hearing it from real graffiti artist! I am not able to take commissions right now but I do have a video that shows how I made the mini brick wall if you are interested in making one ;) th-cam.com/video/IU8EFuKFXks/w-d-xo.html
😍😍
I love it! Maybe you could add a broken light switch and a clock that died and is stuck on a time! Just an idea!
Thank you Elicia💖 Love the suggestions! I already have a dead clock on the inside but the light switch is def something I need to make!!
Sorry! Lol I didn’t see it. But I’m happy I could help! You’re definitely helping me with my project, I’m currently making a abandoned art studio! And you’re giving me so much inspiration ❤️
only perfec¡¡¡
Thank you Patricio!
Artful vandalism?
ITS “DONT DRINK DONT BREATHE” YOU SPELLED “BREATH” INSTEAD OF “BREATHE”
Edit: just seen ur pinned comment
Broken eggs!
Not good, since you asked for opinions
Ummm ... it's brilliant, but do you realise it doesn't say breathe? It says breath (like hold your breath). (Sorry).
I kept thinking that too, but you know what? Graffiti artists are not well-known for their good English skills, so I think it's okay.
Nope.... my bad spelling strikes again Haha! But I have a plan to fix it in the spirit of graffiti! I will post the fix on my social media ;) One reason I love sharing this project with you guys... I am glad to catch now before I put it in a show somewhere! Thanks!!
Great job! it looks realistic!
Thank you!
