the only good thing about top4 is there will be a great chance to sign a really good player to upgrade this starting xi. playing ucl + strong 1st team + attacking style of play = attractive destination for good players
@@justahyundai I love UCL but it definitely puts a huge strain on teams outside of the Big-4. We have those extra games and more injuries to deal with. We have to do it but we need squad depth to be successful in both EPL and UCL at the same time. Spurs do not have squad depth atm.

Bissouma and Sarr were weak in midfield. Maddison not contributing much and Udogie was slow at vital times. The quality of passing is generally not good. Need to take a leaf out of Man C's book. All Guardiola teams are good passers of the ball. How does he do it? Good to see Scarlett given an outing. Deserves more minutes in a match.

Unless Pep's book has leaves from a money tree in it, that's not really an option for any other club. We have some players who have hit a bad run of form and we're definitely going to shore up our squad next window, but we can't magic up all the things we need.

In the last 5 years, Tottenham, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool have all been in the Champions League Final. Now you have Arsenal who could get there this season. So any of the big Clubs from England, can win the Champions League. The fact that Tottenham got to a final and Chelsea and Liverpool recently won it. Yet none of them 3 qualified for it this season, just shows that. So to say a team like Spurs or United can't win it, is stupid. The Premier League teams are getting stronger, while the rest of Europe bar Real Madrid are not as good. Don't be surprised if Liverpool win the Europa, Villa win the Conference League and City win Champions League. Given England a clean sweep. There was a reason the super League, wanted 6 teams from the Premier League, to join them.
spurs were in the finals in 2019 and nobody thought they were good enough to go that far, also inter last yr you always have a chance to win if u play

Qualifying for any competition in any sport is no achievement. The achievement comes if you do sell in a competition.
If you're not first youve got work to do.
Against a side with better finishers we may well have lost. Our passing was disappointing, particularly from some of our most experienced players.
It makes me laugh when this 'top 4' thing is seen as a holy grail ... ok, granted, right now I reckon Ten Hag, Poch, Emery and Howe would give their left nut (and possibly the right one as well) for it ... and I'm also pretty sure when Klopp, Arteta and Pep first signed up they would have given one as well ... but for a successful club, football is a marathon not a sprint and realistically it's never ending ... it took the latter three at least a couple of seasons to get to the base level of the standard they are at now ... and it took smart recruitment, 100% fully focused effort by everybody involved and some handy bits of luck to get there ... and more of the same just to stay there ... and even MORE of the same to get higher ... all Ange is saying is that 4th is good but the only goal should be 1st ... and let's face it, if you're strongly in the mix for that then 2nd, 3rd even 4th is virtually a given and you carry on ... Utd and Newcastle got CL this year, they played 6 games each and now they're 6th and 8th in the Premier League respectively ... Utd might win a cup this year but they'll think of this season as a massive failure ... short term, getting 4th in a season is a great achievement but if you can't maintain it and more importantly BUILD on it, then long term, it's fucking meaningless ...

Klopp had similar challenges when he joined in 2015 following, arguably, underwhelming results for liverpool in the early 2010s. It took Klopp 5 years to win his first premiership. Liverpool now has one of the best football systems in England with a solid youth development pathway so they don't need to always go looking outside for world class players. These clubs without big middle east money benefit more from a sustainable club plan that needs a rebuild from the inside. Youth systems. Recruitment systems. Revenue generation outside of football. They have the beginnings of a sustainable club plan with the stadium being a great revenue earner now as an events venue. Spurs looking at the UCL as a money bag is disastrous in the medium term. If they qualify then good but they are screwed because if they don't then requalify the following year and the year after, they get hit with FFP rules and have to bleed the squad, loosing players, this is why Kane was sold off too. It makes no sense then just chasing UCL football without capacity. They just become like Liverpool of the early 2010s.

No. That’s the attitude required to win. He wants more than just 4th. That’s his point. This isn’t a one year project. To do that requires aiming higher than just making top 4 every season. If we were to get 4th this year it’d make performing well in the league next year infinitely harder.
