By far the only video I've found that narrowed down on questions a beginner would have (Without boring us with the camera language and all) plus, the before and after shots helped a lot to see what the camera is capable of. Everyone else seems to be more interested in selling us (beginners) all these pro camera so thanks a lot man!!

Great review Chris. I am looking to buy my first DSLR and have been deciding between the Canon 200D MkII and the Nikon D3500. I can get the D3500 on a special deal at the moment which includes a 70mm to 300mm lens for A$1,099 which is very tempting. However, I have seen a number of reviews that say the D3500 is poor in low light conditions. As I would like to be able to get in some Astrophotography, I fear that the D3500 may not be the correct choice

I'm an avid runner and I'm between the 200d M II and the 90D to take it with me while out on the trails and traveling. I understand the advantage of weather seal of the 90d. Do you have a recommendation between these two cameras please?

Hi, I have bought this camera few months ago with 18-55 lens. I bought a separate 50mm lens as well. After watching your vedio seems like you recommend to buy a 24mm lens. One professional photographer told me 40mm lens is good for this camera. Now do you recommend me to buy both 24mm and 40mm lenses?

Hey Chris I'm from India and love streetphotography and monochrome photography. Is this camera with the kit lens a great deal for streetphotography ? Dying to know
I use mine to make videos for my channel. Full manual exposure and focus. Has a 5x and 10x magnify button to zoom in to check focus, great feature. Both the battery cover and the on/off switch annoy me as they just seem so cheap and fragile, not that I have broken them yet. Use it in 4k mode and for me the crop is not an issue, I need to get in close, not take landscapes. It even takes stills! For me it works great.
is there an option to shoot raw when shooting video?
Very helpful video as I am hoping to buy this model in transitioning from my Gopro and Samsung Galaxy into starting to take photography more seriously. I wondered what would be a good lense to cover wide to telephoto for zooming in on birds whilst also being able to capture landscapes, and one that offers reasonable images at a reasonable cost. Thanks for this review as it has confirmed that this is a good camera for a beginner like me.

Hey! Just wondering if you could explain in layman what the 'Preset Packs' are/do, how they're used or applied and which would work best with a Canon 3000D?
They are basically colour/tone settings, they are meant for RAW photos so if you have your camera set in JPG, they will work but now how they are supposed to.
Good job on the review. I was looking for something on the not too 'exy' side which would accommodate a Rode VideoMic Go - and looks like the 200D ii might just tick that box. Cheers mate
I have the old 200d and it’s a pain in the arse with the autofocus thank god they fixed it in this one might possibly get one now
thanks heaps for this! just found you as I bought this camera to help me film and share some short (yoga) video tutorials online... yet... I have NO IDEA where to start. so I'm starting here! (bought it about a month ago, and was too scared to open it up til today!) :P
Bang for buck this a good entry level camera, and yes the video is good also dual pixel focus is awesome and the colour science is pretty good without the need to adjust to much straight out of the camera
I've also noticed that the video on my 2000d looks way less shakier on the lcd as to on the computer.
Honestly I don't think it's very usable unless the camera is on a tripod or maybe a gimball. 1080p30 is also very limiting, doesn't look too good on a 32" monitor

I’d probably go with the canon purely because of the video features. If you didn’t want to do video then either is fine

The autofocus on the D5600 for video is terrible it’s not really an option

It is (200D II / 250D / SL3 / Kiss X10). Canon has weird names for their cameras in different areas of the world.

I have a Nikon 3300. The problem is if I do a video and I need to change focus, it is noisy and takes time for the camera to refocus. Does this camera have the same problem? What about the Mark 1 version. I saw one for $300 on ebay.
None of the Nikon DSLR cameras focus well for video.

I love the color science of Canon but i need to let go this camera since I'm more focused to videography so I convert to Fujifilm xt200 since it has good stabilization

Lol, I just started following you just to find out now, that you had a 1000D first, same as me, this 250D in a review now, my current camera, and you switched to Sony just like I do now, just got the A7III and on top of that my first order for the A7III just now is the sigma 24mm 1.4 😂😂😂
Something that I really haven't figured out yet is how sonys amazing autofocus works .. I find myself grabbing my 250D because up till now I only have adapted lenses with a metabones 4 adapter and the autofocus is shit with the A7III i hope I'll either find the right settings or the sigma 24mm will do some magic because I need the autofocus tracking to be at least as good as the 250D. Took me a year to figure out the right setting for my 250D and now it's so reliable.... but I can't take another full year with the sony :/

Dual pixel only matters in live view. If your using the viewfinder it's the same

I'm confused between 200d ii Vs FUJIFILM x-T200.
1) Photography : I'm sure 200d beats T200. Bcoz canon has very cost effective Lenses like 50mm/f1.8 , 24mm/f2.8 etc. Fuji lenses are costly.
Lenses are equally important as body I feel.
So I'm correct in point 1 ?
2) Videography : Is 4K of X-T200 so good in Autofocus n Quality that I should choose X-T200 over 200d mark ii ?

Fuji autofocus isn’t as good, canon lenses are cheaper but not as good as Fuji. For video I wouldn’t buy Fuji.

I don't think they make the Sigma 16mm 1.4 in EFS. EFM yeah but not EFS.
That's one of Canon's main faults, having 4 mounts that don't always work together.
And the crop factor on Canon crop is 1.6 so a 16mm becomes 25.6mm. As far as I can tell there's only the 30mm 1.4 from sigma that's EFS and 1.4. More 1.8 options or larger FF options. First lenses I would recommend would be the 24mm 2.8 EFS that keeps the package small or a 17-50 2.8 3rd party lens (but that may not have too smooth an AF in video with the dual pixel).

Not really. I mean it’ll do it but you’ll get quite grainy photos

Fun fact, 3 years late… “250” is synonymous with “idiot” in Chinese, hence the need to be rebranded for the China/Asia market - I’m guessing they include NZ in that distribution area.

Seriously it was a shock to see cameras not at the 200 to 500 mark but an entry level camera at a thousand dollars. No wonder people just use their phones.
Wait till you look at standard pro cameras. Most of them start at $5000 up to $10,000.
