Can't believe I've only just had this flag up in my TH-cam feed. I've been using single-ended noise reduction units across the vocal channels for conferences since the early 1990s. I first started off with the Aurex Adres system. This was actually design for tape emphasis and de-emphasis, but in de-emphasis mode across speech buss it took out the room ambience feeding back into lectern and lapel mics. Behringer then brought out a neat single-ended noise reduction unit called the Studio Denoiser MkIII (the one in red). It dried vocals beautifully. This meant that when you stood next to the PA speaker, the voice was dry and the only ambience was generated by the room. The result was that 50ft back, intelligibility was appreciably better. To me it was just plain common sense, but even today at conferences, with all the vast array of processing available, younger engineers just leave the room sound in and it sounds awful. Their solution it would appear is to bang in a feedback suppressor and raise the audio level, which does not address clarity and intelligibility.
can you make a video for singer songwriters using waves in live small gigs? pls. ive been wanting to use my waves plugins on guitar and vocals live. thanks waves!
This is Great! I don't mean to Offend anyone I love sharing this video so I can show people how bad DPA's sound. I am not a big fan of the DPA Headset mics. Countryman H6s or Point Source or Sennheiser. In my book.
I think since NS1 is already gating the sound source you might get away with EQing a bit, but the lack of controls is a hit-&-miss with me. WNS has some dials that I can use to tweak the frequency range. Hope this helps you!
They are using the plugins on Waves Emotion LV1 software ( www.waves.com/mixers-racks/emotion-lv1-16-channels ) but these plugins are also very useful in the studio and can work on any of the supported hosts in this list: www.waves.com/support/tech-specs/supported-hosts

I'm from Memphis, Tn. Nice Hat bub. Pretty sweet video. I'm a beat producer, but this stuff is also super interesting to me.
P.S Can I also suggest the use of DeVerberate 3. It diminishes room ambience, allowing better control of your introduced FX.
I, too, am wondering if PSE would be a better choice than NS1 for drum bleed in a live setting. 🤷🏻♂️
What makes the NS1 better than an expander, such as the PSE?

Is it useful as a gate for drum mics?
How are they using a plugin live and what software is that

NS1 and WNS can be used at the same time?
Yes
@@andrestuart7994 Thanks, got great results on my choir mics :)
Would this help for singing drummers?
probably a LOT
It's so weird seeing Andrew Stone there...
My dreams, my dreams ...
