I bought a 50mm 1.8 FE for $100 a couple of months ago. Sure, maybe the lens quality wide open isnt the sharpest, but it's light weight is just so convenient and nice to hold compared to my first lens, a 35mm 1.4 Sigma Art. Makes me alot more likely to pull out or hold my camera, which is always a plus. Not so sharp shots are better than no shots at all.
I'm aware of that...thanks 😂 I was in London a few weeks ago and there were so many people in an angry rush everywhere I went, not something I'm used to living in the North haha
Any other country in the world they'd just cycle around you, maybe even a friendly smile or a beep beep, London full of angry heads...another great vid and brilliant snaps, cheers dude
hello everyone, a couple of months ago I bought 6000 and when choosing new lenses I realized that in order to assemble a good collection I need to spend a lot of money. Just a this 50mm 1.8 costs half of my camera price. Do you think it's worth switching to the canon m50? btw my script is exclusively a photo
@@TheGilotyn okay, thanks for feedback. maybe u can help me with choose, whats the best 50mm for e mount? im choosin yongnuo, sony and some no name manufacturer
@@Iromzy I think the 50mm in this video is FE, whereas for APS-C, there is a different 50mm lens and it has OSS and slightly more expensive (than the FE one), but very good lens. The two models are SEL50F18F (for FE) and SEL50F18 (for APS-C). For APS-C, SEL50F18 is very good.
Always enjoy seeing optical wander just posted on TH-cam, great video as always. Can’t wait to get back into the city myself maybe I’ll use the 50mm when I’m next in.
Recently really started getting into photography and just bought a 50mm F1.8 a few days ago. Had saved up a little bit and after buying a cpl + nd filter thought it was finally time to upgrade from the canon kit lenses. Great video and can't wait to have the 50mm in hand soon
50 F1.8 is the one lens that opens the world of photography to millions of people, for many years, everywhere, on all the systems))) Nostalgic every time! Thanx, man!
I took those "through the fence" shots of tower bridge last time I was in London with evening light, early golden hour. Sure hope to run into while I'm over this week.
I mostly use Sony lover, I don’t add it because I use it as a base and work from there. So I don’t want to mislead people to thinking all they have to do is press that one button and their photo will look the same. But for reference I typically use Sony lover as a starting point 🙏🏼
Your videos always inspire me to get out and shoot street photography with my Z6ii, but i'm so socially awkward that even holding my camera up in a town or city makes me nervous, that lady on the bike would've probably put me off for weeks because i'd be too nervous to get out again for fear of p*ssing someone off.. Wish i had your confidence man! Thanks for sharing these videos, hopefully one day i'll have the confidence to do it myself.
i've sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens. do you think it still worth to buy this? f1.8 looks temping but can you please recommend me if i have sigma already? Please
Hi Sam, awesome video! The 50mm or Nifty Fifty 1.8 was the first prime lens i ever bought. Over the yearsn I have since bought a few more primes, but the 50 mil still remains one of my favorites and am still using it today. It stays in my camera bag.
Nice video bro! i was wondering, i bought the same lens 1 month ago and when i take pictures with it i get a lot of chromatic abberation, do you have any idea where it's from? or maybe i use bad settings?
I love these videos! Could you give any advice for doing street photography for people who live in uninteresting city’s… I have been going out but I just can’t get photos as cool as yours
Do you have any advice about not being shy going out recording, wanting to do some shoots in cities around the uk but Im not the most confident in recording
Great video Sam. Interesting to see that this lens has the same optical configuration as the Minolta f1.7. The coatings are of course better and the Sony has a circular aperture. And the Minolta is slightly smaller. That is the lens I use on my Minolta film and Sony Digital A mount cameras.
@@richards5328 I have just gotten my a6100 but havent gotten around to use all the features. Do you know what this function is called and how to find/use it?
@@Opticalwander I agree both are good lenses. The 85mm is very good. The 50 mm is not bad at all. It's very good for its price, very light and compact. Definitely, there are better lenses, but much more expensive.

What ISO do you shoot at in these night scenarios?

Utilizing this same lens, in the same lighting conditions, what ISO do you recommend to get good lighting but not too much noise?

Lightroom presets? Let me know!
Loved walking and listening to London with you - sensory chill and visual massage . St Pauls looked moody
