Great video Joe! Nothing wrong with those 6 rows. A good set of listing disks is absolutely essential for row crop farming. I love how you pointed out that they can be used for cultivating as well as listing up rows. I used to lay by my tobacco with 4 disks 2 on each side set back wide and they worked great. I remember grandpa used to run through his potatos when they first started popping through the ground with the disks on his cub. As for cultivating, you are absolutely right. It all depends on how deep you run them and how fast you go. I went through my garden the last time last year with the disks.

I love wrapping the plant with them on lay by with some big sweeps.

My dad had a set of Allis Chalmers discs that he used on our 140. They were about the same size as the international discs but the shaft they were mounted on were swept back instead of straight and my dad always liked that better.

I’m in south MS and have a good number of parts for duplex planters. Lots of plates for duplex and original IH belly planters. Sorta decided to start selling some stuff. Not as easy fooling with them as it used to be.

      Hey Danny
Thanks for commenting that. There’s some folks on here that might need some of that.

You are using the 140 for a garden tractor but I remember when farmers used 140 and super A to farm 20 to 40 acres, I have disc and a pair of rolling cultivators but they are on a cub and I can't can't control the lift it's either up or down good video

Your right Joe. My Grand Dad bought a 100 Farmall in 1959 and that’s what they used for everything.

    Joe,
Been watching your videos and love them. I have a 140 and have a lot of equipment for it. Most of the equipment I hadn't seen used before and hence how I met you on youtube. I know your busy prepping and planting, but I have noticed there are not any videos out there on setting up the 140 for planting. example: drive gears, planter ratio, checking for spacing of seed ect... I have multiple planter hoppers for the under slung runner planter and nothing to show how to use it. Do you have this type planter? Could you do a video on how to use it? I know you have the fertilizer unit and the 184 planter and this might be easier to use than the runner planter. I planted a few years ago with the combination hopper, but would like to plant with the duplex hopper this year. I noticed that Railey farm and field uses one. Thanks for the videos and supporting the Lords work.. Gary

Hey Gary your right Preacher Railey does use one. I got my Hastings corn seed from him. As much as I love to help folks I’m not really versed on ratios of the planters. I use kinda set it by looks of how fast the seed is coming out. I am going to do a video tomorrow that will cover a little of what I like seeing on my planter that might help. I’m also going to show the fertilizer hopper installation to. Thanks for watching and God Bless

My planter pins up to a tool bar that mounts to the front cultivator frames. It mounts underneath the tractor. I was able to order a book for from our ih dealer. It’s a 180 ih planter

I’ll knock them back down a little when I plant to give cultivators something to work with.

last year on a small space I used a motion detector. This year with what I'm going to plant I need to do an electric fence.th-cam.com/video/13wKHMNFBLM/w-d-xo.html

That cultivator arm is not a foot step. Just sayin. I have a foot step on my Farmall Super A. I think you would really like one on your Tractor.
