Moving my work space to a larger room at home. Theres lots to organise and I thought the move would stop me making videos for a week or so but once I got the bench in place I thoughtit may be helpful for some people if I explain about how I made it.
Buying a suitable 2nd hand desk and then modifying it for making jewellery on is so much cheaper than buying a specific jewellers work bench.
Here's how I did mine!

I made my own bench as well. I started with a thrifted desk from the fifties with three drawers on each side and a wide one in the middle, I took the top of it, which was some crumbly composite material, put plywood over the side drawers. I made a frame from planks that I put atop and around the sides and back, to get the height I needed. Then I scored a huge, 4 cm thick solid pine coffe table for the top. The middle drawer is exposed and catches all the filings. 👍 I love it, it’s called Frankie, as in the “frankenbench”.

Thank you for your amazing tips! They are extremely helpful! Now I can start thinking of building up my own bench. I don't need necessarily buy a "jeweler bench" or "a jeweler lamp" etc. :)

I used an old hard wood door then made 4 by 4 legs ! And bedside draws on each side !

thank you for the video. As I have only little space I build my own bench it is abort 90 cm wide and 100 cm high. I think it is a little too high. 😇😁. When I'm sitting on a kitchen chair the bench top is at my armpit. Is there a formel for the exact high?

I started 15 months ago. Im short but would like to be higher at my bench. I only have an ikea table which is not stable. One day will get a better bench.
You can reenforce it with stronger legs and a thicker top maybe
I went to a big box store and found a damaged 10' length of kitchen countertop - 30% off because it was damaged 😏
I like having a curb on the back of my work surface, and a rounded front edge.

Thanks for this video, it is really helpful. I worked as duct fitter for 25 years so am used to manipulating metal on a bigger scale. I am in the middle of a 3d modelling course and have applied for an art and design-jewellery course after. Could you tell me the best course I should do to become a jeweller and how long it takes? I plan to start on a very amateur scale pretty much immediately, perhaps just buying broken jewellery and fixing it. Just subscribed and may join you on patreon.👍
Yo Good luck with the courses. I dont know about others but I am working on my own. They should be available in a few months. I recommend just getting started! Experience is the only way to learn
