A flame thrower uses a compressed canister of fuel, sometimes napalm like substances. it has a flame which remains lit, and apon pulling the trigger instead of just gas, it shoots out a goo like substance that is lit and thrown, hence flame "thrower" which lands on surfaces and continues to burn catching nearby stuff on fire and overall being more dangerous than a blow torch.
