Love the swinging d series of flies. Had a client out on the juniata River that has bought a bunch of flies off me in the past so took him on a float for smallies and the original swinging d was the ticket. It’s one of my go to small mouth patterns and they destroy them
Do you ever notice the wire wraps preventing a fish from getting hooked better? I use wire wraps on most of my changers but always wondered what you guys think since you fish bass every day
So the lead on bend does affect the swim with foam Dahlberg head design? Both work in creating movement. There is a lot of fly designs built into that fly. Nice.

Slick move with gluing tail feathers to create knife design.
Another great video Mike! Do you color the head or just leave it white? I’m guessing it doesn’t matter to the fish.
Beautiful!
Cool video, Mike.
I need to call your shop and get a kit for this one!

No eyes? This pattern looks very fishy. Great tying.
What fly line do you recomend to fish this with? Also could you just stack or spin a deer hair head instead of a foam one?

Yes, exactly
Do the mallard flanks add anything to the action of the fly, or are they just there to give the fly a darker back color
So what happens if the head don’t fit. Asking for a friend 🥸
