I've always known of Atom since AVA first got together but I never looked that far into him as a drummer but up until a couple of weeks ago I did more research on him and he's quickly becoming one of my favorite drummer's and a huge influence on me as a drummer.
I love that snare!!!! When Atom was making this album he had free range on any drums and what ever cymbals he wanted... The Sky was the limit!! Every Drummers dream right???.. whenever he's asked about the set and sizes he used for this recording and he couldn't remember... Hmmmmm.... How the fuck could he!!!??? He had a legend like Tom DeLong backing him saying what is your dream kit!! And let's go get it man!!!
Lol I dont think you know who Atom is or how long he's been playing drums. Music isn't always about showing off how much you can do, especially with the sound Angels and Ariwaves goes for.
I love Blink sooooooo much but AVA just beats them by that little bit... which is this man Atom :) its not all speed and quick drums fills aka Travis, its passion and feeling he brings to a song with his drumming :)
@GermanEaglePatriot Atom hits super hard that might be one of the reasons, but they're probably to eliminate background noise though. So the mic picks up only what's coming from what's being hit and the cymbals only go into the overheads and not into the mics over the toms or snare.
@boobietrap1000 just because something isn't complicated or overplayed does not make it bad. sometimes a song or band requires a straight forward simple beat, sometimes it doesn't. he fits well in a&a and the whole band seems to think that aswell clearly
@AvAAlr that's cool, for me I've always just loved Travis' grooves like the groove from Anthem for example, that's awesome, but yeah it;s cool that everyone's into different things, I mean, Travis was my favorite drummer when I was like 10 till 14, but nowadays I listen to all kinds of drummers, like Thomas Pridgen, Terri Lyne Carrington, Aaron Spears, Billy Cobham etc, I just recently remebered how much Travis inspired me ::)
@AsteroidsFlight it looks like it, ive got a club jazz, only difference is bigger bass drum and extra floor tom, god i love my gretsch set, looks like natural finish like mine
@boobietrap1000 Lol. That was dumb. His stuff isn't boring. It fits right. That's the most important part of drumming (or any instrument for that matter.) You have to blend into the mix well or you are a negative influence to the band's sound. He actually has some very complicated parts that fit super well. He knows when to make it technical so it fits perfect. He also knows when to play simply to make it sound the best.
@Hrl4EV I love Travis because he is a very creative drummer, he changed completely Blink; I didn't really like them before he joined, I mean listen to Adam's Song, Dysentery Gary, Feeling This, I mean any Blink song he played on really, some of that stuff is complicated, but it's also just really creative - you could get away with playing fairly standard stuff with a band like Blink but Travis just came up with up with the best Pop Punk drum parts I've ever heard, best Pop Punk drummer there is
@kevinbothwell Any kit can sound great providing it's freshly skinned, tuned and played properly. I have a soft spot for OCDP but it really pisses me off when bands want to sound as good as blink but they treat their gear like shit.
3 years into the future I believe the reason is simply it was his time. Tom was flirting with Blink, taking ideas from AVA and putting them to work elsewhere. He wanted to tour alot more and felt AVA was Tom's side project to TTSA. Iian is a solid replacement in AVA. Probably more better fitting than Atom.
@Hrl4EV i like him not for those reasons... i like him for how he plays but atom and travis are two completely different styles of drumming also one of the biggest rips on travis is how hard he hits but then again so does atom. there both amazing but completely different
@Hrl4EV yeah but they play to completely different styles. never really been a a&a's fan but from the little bit ive seen of them they're at a much slower pace. and this particular song is anything but complex. just saying.
@rosssparrow Well without AVA there'd be no Blink reform or the new sounding blink... Yeah Travis would beat Atom in a drum off but really when it comes to songs its about spead its about bringing emotion to the song.
i think he left AVA because he wants to play shows all the time and not wait for tom to have some off time from blink to set aside for recording and playing AVA shows
@MacFarlane92 without blink there is no ava. blink kills all other side projects. but the side projects are stil bomb. barker would still murder atom in a drum off
That snare sounds fucking AWESOME.
He was definitely a huge influence on the sound of that album!
Atom is without a doubt my favorite drummer to watch play. He just gives off so much energy in every song.
One of my fave drummers ever.
this guy inspired me to start playing
WATCHING ATOM DRUMMING IS MORE LIKE AN ADVENTURE!!! WE LOVE YOU ATOM!!
I love his style.
we gonna miss u atom !!!
2021 missing this AvA era still thankful of current work but this was epic.
always loved this dude's drum tone
Atom left AVA......i cant stop crying......
so fresh so clean atoms an awesome drummer
I've always known of Atom since AVA first got together but I never looked that far into him as a drummer but up until a couple of weeks ago I did more research on him and he's quickly becoming one of my favorite drummer's and a huge influence on me as a drummer.
i love atom , I look up to him when it comes to drumming , i aspire to be as good as him one day XD
energy. 💥🥁✨
I looooooooooooooove is drumming so much
TIGHT!
he is painting his drums...oh he is awesome!!!!!!!
Love him!
Verse groove is amazing yet simple... sooooo stealing it :D
one of the most inspiring drummers! i love the way he plays, he was only a bit of at 3:54 but still a sick video
I like it when he hits the crash
I love that snare!!!! When Atom was making this album he had free range on any drums and what ever cymbals he wanted... The Sky was the limit!! Every Drummers dream right???.. whenever he's asked about the set and sizes he used for this recording and he couldn't remember... Hmmmmm.... How the fuck could he!!!??? I'm glad that tom went with a different drummer. Atom did a really great job. Ava would not have been this good without Atom.
that snare is so epic
Atom, travis best drummer of pop punk
He is such a 'musical' drummer,... he's got style, even when playing loud.
The Offspring and Angels lost a great drummer.
Atom didn't wanted to be in these band idk why he left
@@royortiz7550 cause they weren’t full time and dude needs to support his family.
awesome! this is the actual recording used in the song!!
that's sometimes what makes a good drummer, playing to the music to make it better and not to show off
That's always what makes a good drummer for me. I've known many drummers who can do some silly technical fill, but can't play a simple beat.
hes so god damn tight!
it's an a sweet ride in a brilliant finish
ohTHANKgah ; this restoreth my soul
It's like we want you to go from a garage drum kit to picking whatever kit and cymbals you want!!!!
My favorite fucking band of all time
Atom Willard 🙏🙏🙏🥁🥁🥁🥁
Thanks for upload bro,
after he head bangs, his hair manage to go back in the same position hahah
Does anyone knows about what shellpack, snare and cymbals are these??? Pleasee
Awsome bro
Damn right. Thank you for saying that.
atomic great machine...
So that is how his cymbals sound so good......Sharpie drawn stars on cymbals.
at studio 606, foo fighters studio
@GermanEaglePatriot

@lwl0296 In an interview he says he uses Vador 5B sticks. I was Vador 5A. I love them.
@AsteroidsFlight I think it's a sonor, not sure what model though
@boobietrap1000 just because something isn't complicated or overplayed does not make it bad. sometimes a song or band requires a straight forward simple beat, sometimes it doesn't. he fits well in a&a and the whole band seems to think that aswell clearly
So fucking good!!!!!!
i miss to see him play for ava
so long atom
@AvAAlr that's cool, for me I've always just loved Travis' grooves like the groove from Anthem for example, that's awesome, but yeah it;s cool that everyone's into different things, I mean, Travis was my favorite drummer when I was like 10 till 14, but nowadays I listen to all kinds of drummers, like Thomas Pridgen, Terri Lyne Carrington, Aaron Spears, Billy Cobham etc, I just recently remebered how much Travis inspired me ::)

atom makes drumming look so hard.
@Coats182 do they are professionals..they know what they are doing..
✌✌✌❤❤❤
His hi-hat position only got taller since this, its almost touching the ceiling now
what hi hats is atom using in this recording? They are amazing!
Alan Martin 15 inch zildjian new beats
@boobietrap1000 Lol. That was dumb. His stuff isn't boring. It fits right. That's the most important part of drumming (or any instrument for that matter.) 💙🤘🏼💙🤘🏼
You can see Lard Ulrich influences in his drumming
@Hrl4EV I love Travis because he is a very creative drummer, he changed completely Blink; I didn't really like them before he joined, I mean listen to Adam's Song, Dysentery Gary, Feeling This, I mean any Blink song he played on really, some of that stuff is complicated, but it's also just really creative - you could get away with playing fairly standard stuff with a band like Blink but Travis just came up with up with the best Pop Punk drum parts I've ever heard, best Pop Punk drummer there is
that bit from about 4:10 i love so much
What a true pro Atom is, bet he did this in one take :D
Is he in the studio?
wtf did the camera said in the end?
@RespectTheDrums i wanna know too
anyone knows what his cymbal setup is?
" it's so easy, it was just soo..." Why did they cut it off then.
is that the gretsch catalina club rock ?
what stick are those?
Snare sound slap harder
what hi hats are those
Any1 know the crash he's riding. It's an A custom something
They dont call him "One Take Willard" for nothing. Fun fact, the World Metronome Association uses Atom to calibrate their Metronomes.
What fuckin snare is he using?
Now everybody's looking after @BoxCarEraser 's comment xD
@TheSoccer123soccer Look like Zildjian A Mastersound 14"...Not A custom
WHAT DRUM SET IS THIS?
I need to know it too!!
Gretcheo USA Custom
@GermanEaglePatriot
I'm probably wrong, but I think they might be Styrofoam pads.
@Hrl4EV don't think Travis' beats are that simple ....
he use the french grip ?
Great, now we start the search for BoxCarEraser's comment
@kevinbothwell Any kit can sound great providing it's freshly skinned, tuned and played properly. I have a soft spot for OCDP but it really pisses me off when bands want to sound as good as blink but they treat their gear like shit.
@Hrl4EV not that Pop Punk is the only genre he can play
Um Heaven by AaA is a good song to use in comparison.
why he left no one knows
3 years into the future I believe the reason is simply it was his time. Tom was flirting with Blink, taking ideas from AVA and putting them to work elsewhere. He wanted to tour alot more and felt AVA was Tom's side project to TTSA. Iian is a solid replacement in AVA. Probably more better fitting than Atom.

NO NO NO> Its Crassssshhhh, snare, Thud!
@Hrl4EV yeah but they play to completely different styles. never really been a a&a's fan but from the little bit ive seen of them they're at a much slower pace. and this particular song is anything but complex. just saying.

lol
"dude that was so loud.."
adam*
@avarocks1000 ya
dude that SNAARE
i didn't know he recorded this song with a Gretsch catalina kit
i think he left AVA because he wants to play shows all the time and not wait for tom to have some off time from blink to set aside for recording and playing AVA shows
He uses 15 inch hi hats.
@LOVEAstronaut182 he'll leave Danko Jones and come back to AVA ;P
@MacFarlane92 without blink there is no ava. blink kills all other side projects. but the side projects are stil bomb. barker would still murder atom in a drum off
