The reason it keeps showing a tree when he thinks of home is cause when Odysseus built his palace, he made part of his and Penelope’s bed as a tree so their love would be eternal
Actually, it was Penelope that said "if you can make me a beautiful bed with trees around it, I'll marry you" and that's exactly what he did. It's their wedding bed, it symbolizes their love which is why it's so important to Odysseus. At least, I'm pretty sure 😭
Odysseus actually did apologize to Poseidon there, it's just easy to miss because it's not our modern standard of apology. Back in Ancient Greece Culture, a demand for an apology was basically the harmed party saying, "Make it make sense, and maybe I'll let you off the hook," and the instigating party would give their reasons, and hope the harmed party would accept said reasons.
Ah, I see! Thank you for explaining! I saw another comment explaining too and I really appreciate it! It genuinely confused me why he didn't just say sorry :')
yep and Poseidon saying "the line between naivety and hopefulness is almost invisible" was his way of saying did you really think i was actually going to forgive you?
Lets add to the pocket sand that is the lyrics. When the souls are interacting with Ody in the Underworld, they are written in a way to show their last thoughts. So his men wondered why their captain took the steps he did, Polites still thought of meeting the world with open arms, and his mom no matter what was waiting for her son. Thank you Jorge for making me tear up when these all come up XD / Also Myth-wise he tried to reach out to his mom three times but couldn't reach her.
1:18:07 there is no irony from Odysseus letting the Cyclops live to killing the baby who was far from innocent. At least not at present. Zeus himself prophesied that baby will grow up to kill Odysseus and his family and following through that horrible act will allow Odysseus to live a good old age with his family. In fact, killing that baby is what caused Odysseus to be more merciful as the story went on. At least merciful to the cyclops he blinded as a means of making up for what he did. At the same time, other heroes and kings in Greek Mythology who tried changing such fates ended up in misery and horror.

Letting people express themselves and feel free to be themselves is the best thing we can do. Maybe not jumping in mid sentence, but correcting someone in general shouldn't be a bad thing
If I've misread or misinterpreted this comment, then I apologise. I also apologise if I explained myself poorly, it's something I struggle with but I'm trying to get better :)
@@galacticsaz the very act of interrupting people because you want to feel comfortable, is already preventing others from expressing themselves. you are the initial instigators. and people like me are getting very impatient. you might not be glad that happens
@@MCCaradon This is why I suggested correcting people once they're done talking. That way, no interruptions and we get to feel comfortable. I personally think this is the best compromise :)
@@galacticsazemtirely unprompted rexommendation: be more strict if you want to create a welcoming community. i know you're still at a size where it may feel like every person matters, but thats not a good reason to emgage with bad faith arguments. don't tolerate intolerance.
@@laundmo I know I should but I kind of struggle to identify what's good intention and bad unless it's completely clear... I think when I initially read that comment I just immediately assumed it was just an annoyance at being interrupted and not against anything, if that makes sense. Sorry, I'm kinda bad at explaining myself :')
