Getting a pull over by the rangers when I was driving back to my campsite, and having to pass several tests to show I hadn't drunk, well, that was to me the most exciting experience (not the most desirable, though)
I am from Liverpool, I visited Yosemite 2 years ago, I have travelled all around the world, but Yosemite is easily the best place I have, and ever will experience. Breathtaking scenery
I live in Merced, CA which is also known as “The gateway to Yosemite.” I live so close to the park that we often take day trips there on the weekends. It truly is a magical place that I wish everyone could have the opportunity to see for themselves.
i'm going to a wedding in san diego in may. i have family in LA i will visit for a day, BUT i really want to make it a point with my wife and son to visit Yosemite. I hope i can make it happen.

My national parks pass was the best Christmas present I've ever bought myself. I hike Yosemite at least once a month. My happy place. Best bet is to take a Friday off and spend the day hiking. Easy parking, less crowds.

Been dreaming about going for a while. Live in the UK though so I will have to tie it into a tour of California to make it worthwhile. A week in San Fransisco, a week in Yosemite and then a week in LA and surrounding area. Oh and a trip to Sequia! That will be a couple of days. You Americans are so lucky to have places like California.
you should include the rest of the Bay Area in your week in San Francisco. You should also visit Santa Cruz (about an hour south of SF). Basically you could spend half your life in California, and not see everything lol.
I'm from Toledo, Ohio and I flew my mom out to California for her 70th birthday a couple years ago and the last place we visited was Yosemite. Pictures, movies and explanations of this park will do no justice! This is a place you have to see for yourself.
Yosemite is such a breathtaking place, you don't know what to do first because there are so many things to do and see. I went to Yosemite like 6 years ago and it's still one of my favorite national parks I ever visited in California ;) by the way, thank you National Geographic to make all of these short but really cool videos :)

Sequoias are thousands years old, amazingly giant trees, only seen in California. It is a must-see. Makes you feel like the smallest creature on earth.
These attractions are at least an hours drive from the valley floor. Place is huge and some trailheads might be miles away from lodging. Speed limit is 10 or 15 mph so somewhere 20 miles away can take 2 hrs.
monkey paw whenever there isnt 1 million people there. Winter is pretty dead but also very cold and the valley is closed. But if you climb you can still make it to the walls. Id say Autumn is the best because its not super hot and lesser crowds than summer
That was a pika (Ochotona daurica), and, yes, they are common in the park and throughout the Sierra in rocky terrain at higher elevations, say 2500 meters and above..
@@professorsogol5824 Interestingly my dog is from Texas, and when he heard a recorded Pika call, he perked his ears. Most recorded animal sounds don't interest him. Thank you for clarifying.
I noticed that too (at 1:08). Also several of the Halfdome views are not from the Glacier Point perspective (from the west, looking east, but from the east, looking west.

SoberRS Check out Yosemite Valley. There are a lot of trails and they have free shuttle buses there for you to see areas far away from each other. Late May and early June is a nice time to go because it is not hot and the waterfalls are flowing. Also bring lots of food and water because the restaurant there is quite expensive. Yosemite is full of stunning valleys and incredible wildlife indeed! Did you have a favorite part from your visit?
So many highlights to the journey, camping out under the starts, cycling through the forest and seeing wild deer. An amazing place :)
Been to all the national parks here in California! For my opinion, California is the most beautiful place to live!
Except all you can see around the cities are dead deserts. You are gonna need to drive quite far to see those
Kyu Kim I live in the Central Valley, I live like basically in the middle of California.
It must be incredible to live so close to these national treasures!
Yosemite and Sequoia N.Ps are really hard to beat! Also the Mt Shasta area..

The waterfalls are practically barreling down in the spring, so I'd say late March/early-mid April.
Not on the weekend or national holidays
