- There are many ways to brighten dark subjects. In this video, Robert Correll relies on a different technique that relies on an inverted black and white layer (complete with a different blend mode) to even tones across the subject of a photo.

Awesome tutorial!! It has helped me so much! It's a great way to fix a photo if fill light ot brightness alone isn't working!
@myhotjeans There's various ways to achieve this, other tha what is shown here. You could use the One Step Photo fix, the Smart Photo Fix, use Fill Flash, use Backlighting, or even record this as a script so you'll be able to use it much faster on other images.

Just wondering if this is the only way I know in PhotoShop there is an action for it and it's like one click on where it's needed, I use this on a lot of my photos and just purchased PaintShop X3 and just curious if this has something like that....Thanks!
