  • Showing off the RobotDigg.com injection molding machine! It works really well and I get a lot of emails asking details about the machine so I thought I would make a shorter overview vid.

    I see mention of you making your own molds? Any recommendations? And any chance of another video showing that process?

    I'm actively looking for machines at the moment and have come across these. How much do you pay for the molding plates? What else do you need besides the machine (I think I saw you had a pressure tank in a video?) What is your typical maintanence costs and the curve of learning on repair (and is there support for maintanence/warranties?). With shipping what was the all in cost? What's the max amount of clamping force can it take? What's the largest shot can this machine produce at a time (it appears more than adequate for my needs). Sorry for the question, very interested!

    How is the reliability on this? Will it run parts all day without ending tuning all the time? I'm thinking about getting one, need to produce 1000-3000 pieces a month

      It should. But with 'normal' cycle times (lets say 20sek) and simple molds you should be able to get your 3.000pcs in one day easy. If you use Aluminium molds they will usually only Last 5-10k shots.

    read comment below . You need to pick one of the boxes below "RDGInjection", for instance, and it will come up with an $8k price tag. Add another $300 for 110V if you need to have it converted.

    All-electric machines actually have a fixed screw but from what I understand those can only be used with virgin plastic. The Microplast desktop moulding machine made by Andrey Korotkov in Russia is an all-electric machine.

    hi,. curious to know how many Decibels noise the machine it self makes, is it too loud ( can i leave running in my neighborhood garage like at 2am ? ) of course taking in consideration will add some sound proofing on walls / garage door.
    also do you have any experience with runing this machine with 3d printed molds ( like on the old 3d printer Stratasys Objet30 resin type of mold ? )

    That's pretty impressive. What PSi do you use to run that machine (I like California air tools compressors-quality stuff)?
    After watching your videos I'm hooked and hope my compressor can do the job. I have custom prototype parts I've 3D printed and still might have molded for me but this approach would pay for itself (minus plastic material) on the first order.
    Sadly I saw the latest video from what might be the owner of RobotDiggs discussing the backorder status due to the Coronavirus. Very sad, I hope all turns out ok for them soon.
    Keep making videos...I'm subscribed!

    took me half a second to see why your cycle time is high. if you add cooling to the mold you can cool the parts faster. but you probably knew that.

  • @BillyBob-si2db
    @BillyBob-si2db 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can see the screw turning, is that the only way that the plastic goes into the mold, is there also a "piston" shot, or just the screw?

    • @thegreatestmoo
      @thegreatestmoo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The screw turns to feed the plastic into the injection chamber, it has a full screw with a valve on the end and everything. After the mold ejects the previous part then the screw get injected into the mold, it will fill the full 30 grams into the mold VERY quickly within like 1 second. The screw acts like a plunger when full, you can see @ 7:47

    • @BillyBob-si2db
      @BillyBob-si2db 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thegreatestmoo Okay, so if I am understanding correctly, the screw mixes and pushes the molten plastic into the "injection chamber" then there is a mechanism that then shoots the contents of the chamber into the mold cavity?
