I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of this radio, especially on FM. I probably would have passed over this one with its rather plain looks. I think this would be the perfect first emergency radio for someone on a budget.
I got a yellow one of the digital version last summer, under the MAKSH (correct spelling) & it also becomes less sensitive the higher up the AM band you go.
I really like that a lot of these newer radios use a removable 18650 battery plus the ability to use traditional batteries as a backup. The Crusader One seems to be a very good emergency radio. I’ve heard you say many times that more radios should add a weather band and I agree 100%. There are usually a dozen or more times a year we use a WB radio. Thanks for sharing.
Somehow missed this when you first released it. Looks like a nice one. That name, though: I'm a bit surprised a company is using that name in the 21st century.

Thank you for your review. I have to say, I'm particularly impressed with how many NOAA stations you were able to receive!! If I already didn't own so many other Weather Band radios, I would strongly consider picking one of these up!! But... If I were to succumb to temptation, I would choose the red cabinet for something different. Thanks again!!
Hey Toderbert nice review of this radio. So nice that I brought the red one from Amazon. I really liked the rechargeable battery that can recharge with the solar panel and a hand crank in case you need to use it. Plus NOAA is always a plus out here in Hawaii. I'm in the market looking for a powerful AM radio. This radio only catches 2 AM stations where I live. As far as FM stations those come in pretty good, and as for the NOAA I pick up the last one to the right of the dail it comes in very clear. Is there a AM radio that you can recommend that has power to bring in AM stations. I like listening to sports stations and talk radio. Thanks in advance. Aloha
Not sure of your area as far as AM goes, but any of the radios that sport a 200mm internal ferrite antenna may be worth checking out. Sangean PR-D5, PR-D15, C.Crane CC Radio 2E/3, EP-Pro, ect.
Todderbert I looked at your video with an am loop antenna and after the video I decided to get one. Tecsun AN-200 from Amazon and I can't believe the results I'm getting, two of my favorite sports stations that was just static prior to using dis antenna 1420 & 1500 both are coming in clear. After trying different positions the best is actually placing it over the radio lying flat. Thank you again for your in depth reviews it really helps.
You can fast charge these off grid with a 30+ watt folding solar panel.
