- How do you stay creative when you're under stress, feeling depressed or full of anxiety? In this video I share what I've been doing to keep myself busy during these strange times, and also, I want to introduce you to my new Golden Retriever puppy!

you are not alone. i, too, deal with anxiety and stress. i seem to have been doing everything but draw, even though it's just sitting on my table. i have totally decluttered my living space, and nap. i am just starting up again. thank goodness i have some clients who always say "no rush."

It has been strange. The year started off gangbusters, art selling as fast as I could make it...then it dried up. Then I dried up! I just could not get back in the groove. I had to verbally remind myself of that which I preach to other artists: Painting is not about a feeling...just paint! Getting my inertia going again!
YES!! Exactly right, and everyone gains inspiration differently. I had to jumpstart mine with that online class. Sometimes I just need to be told what to paint and that's okay; giving myself permission to be led instead of trying to be the leader has really helped. Thank you for your comment!

Yes, I am finding this new social pandemic very strange too. I suffer with high anxiety and its been tough. I would love to see more of your videos and your new baby ! She is such a cutie ! I love animals so much. I hope you are feeling better now with the new baby, I find a new pet is never a substitute but it sure adds lots of love and helps take your mind away from the sadness. I believe its one of the best medicines !. Stay safe and be well ! 💗🙏😃

I agree with your comment of time is standing still but also going really fast - feels like an alternate universe. Maven is so sweet!! I had a Golden....I miss him, and yes, it's really hard when they pass. But they are such great dogs!! I'm a crazy cat lady now as I rescued some feral kittens a couple of years ago. Looking forward to your future videos and seeing more of Maven as well !

2020 was a fantastic year for me with online art sales. 2021 however has been the opposite. Looking forward with optimism to 2022 being a much better year for all creatives.
I’m so glad you said what you did about having a puppy...not having much time to paint! It makes me feel better about myself! This summer, I raised 3 baby guinea fowl keets and was really relieved when my old guinea hen took them on as her own. I figured I’d be able to get paintings done! Then, after 30 years of not having a dog, we got a corgi puppy! Talk about energy...and snapagator teeth! 😂 That was the end of June. I’m just now starting to get a little work done!🙄
I am fascinated to know you raised three baby guinea fowl - wow! I am in love with those birds! It must have been deeply satisfying to finally see them taken into the fold. And oh my gosh, the vampire teeth of puppies are bananas!! My pup is almost 7 months old now and I'm still soooo behind on painting. The time goes by super fast though; she changes right before my eyes! Congrats on your sweet corgi - such great dogs! And here's to snatching some peaceful moments to paint! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Maven is beautiful! but yes, babies take a lot of time and energy. We got a kitten in November and she's been into everything. She's just turned 1 and I'm finally able to sort of get back into the studio. Congratulations!

Hi Ellen, glad to have you back. At the start of the year, I was all set to get my art business going. This pandemic made me put that on hold. In lieu of art business, I´ve kept on painting and getting some kind of following on Instagram @bebeno11. The shut-in has given me the time to just paint and paint. So, to a degree, this has worked out - and is working - for me. We´ll see where this goes. Good luck to all and stay safe.
Hi Ellen.... nice to see you again... yes, this pandemic has been a trying time, you're not alone when it comes to sheltering in place. Hopefully your video has been inspirational to some of your viewers. It's not just the pandemic, it's the results of the pandemic that are affecting a lot of us, specifically the economy. All we can do is hang in there and try to stay in good spirits because I don't think this pandemic is going to disappear very soon. Nice addition to your family, I'm guessing you will be doing a few portraits to add to your collection. Stay safe.

Hi, I'm actually watching this in August of 2022. We are past the pandemic but I'm going through a period of being very blocked artistically. My husband is newly diagnosed with Parkinson's so that has been a change for us. Around the time you posted this video we lost our 13 year old yellow Lab and my heart is still broken. I don't know if I can do another puppy as I'm now about 70 and big dogs are harder. But I loved seeing your puppy they brought me a lot of joy! I wish you all the best with her. Also thanks for the validation that we all get blocked especially in stressful times. Stay well!
Hello! I'm so sorry for your loss. The pandemic was difficult enough, but losing a loved one during that time must have amplified an already deep heartache.
We dedicated ourselves to adopting senior Goldens and had a good run for a while; then lost 2 within a short timeframe and my heart was so broken, I couldn't deal with another loss so soon. Along came Maven. Since then, we've adopted another rescue. In my case, the joy of being with dogs eventually outweighs the heartbreak. I know this isn't the case for everyone, and I do hope you are able to find some peace.

Aww! Maven's GORGEOUS!! I myself lost my golden/lab mix and totally understand what you went through- it took me 2yrs to get a puppy.. Blue's a black lab with boundless energy. I got him last July @ the same age as yours. He's brought me such joy thru all of this & is finally calming down a bit now :) Super happy to see you again, and yes it's not been productive for me thru all of this. I've only been semi back to creating for about a month now and looking at new subject matter in new mediums to push forward, take care!

awwww cute puppy!!! I lost my golden retriever last November. I know how you feel about being broken hearted. I'm not ready for another dog or puppy yet.
I'm so sorry you lost your goldie :( I understand the need to wait; we waited until the longing for a dog outweighed the loss; sometimes it comes really quickly and other times it takes a lot longer. You'll know when you're ready :)
