When I first watched this live in 2019 it became (and still is) the greatest basketball game I have ever seen. Ryan Cline going nuclear will forever be my favorite March Madness memory.
CARSEN EDWARDS OF ATASCOCITA HIGH SCHOOL in Humble/Houston, being left off of the UIL 100 BEST IN 100 YEARS of BASKETBALL team is a joke..They lose the 2016 6A FINAL, and MARCUS BOLDEN of DeSOTO who has not had the college career at Duke that Carsen had at PURDUE, makes the team and EDWARDS doesn't? HE AVERAGED 25 TO 28 POINTS A GAME in high school..and his team with post FABIAN WHITE who helped take U OF HOU. to the SWEET 16 a couple of years ago, goes 38-1= marking it as a TOP 100 IN 100 TEAM..BUT YOU LEAVE OFF THE STAR..? I am waiting for an explanation, UIL.
Both this game and Purdue's Elite Eight showdown against Virginia were instant classics with a ton of good basketball, but I want to take a moment to shout out Brian Anderson on the play-by-play. Two fantastic games needed fantastic announcing to back them up, and he delivered.
Honestly 2019 Purdue should’ve won the tourney they were one of the best teams that we’ve seen in a long time especially when you see the young talent in trevon williams and noelle eastern
I don't know if this was the best game of the 2019 tournament it was a lot of great games heck the Purdue Virginia game was back and forth just like this Tennessee Purdue game. And then the final four games Auburn versus Virginia Texas Tech versus Michigan State at the national championship game Virginia versus Texas Tech were great. Forget Duke versus UCF Michigan State versus Duke was another great game that came down to the last seconds Kentucky vs Auburn, Tennessee coming back from 25 points down to beat Iowa in the second round in overtime etc
Oh my god I just love NCAA basketball 🏀 tournament !!!! When I was younger I used too watch almost every game I could u know just the excitement of it all
This game was so traumatic for me 😂 I picked Tennessee to win the tournament I was at the Sixers game we had just beat the nets pretty easily and then as i was leaving this game is on the tv so i stopped to watch the ending and proceeded to see my champs lose after seeing what 4 of their players foul out smh
Tennessee down by 12 at the half. 40-28, I expected the Admiral and Williams to score more in the first half. I had heard so much about Tennessee, but Auburn beat them in 2019! Tennessee let me down!
Well Tennessee won 31 games this year I didn't know that !!! The ACC is a really tough conference in basketball the SEC is pretty tough conference too though
It surely was not Auburn , who in 2019 beat Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky only to lose to Virginia in final four game with no time left. Coach Bruce Pearl did an excellent job growing this team. 2021 he has lost 80% of his scoring so Auburn is rebuilding with freshmen. Expect great things from Auburn soon as they mature.
The fact the Iowa game went to overtime suggested that Tennessee would have a hard time trying to knock off Purdue, who Tennessee beat in OT in the Atlantis quarterfinals back in 2017.
The Celtics knew who the real champ was from this game. Grant Williams. Where is Carsen edwards now. Playing for some g league team. A foul by turner ruined this magical run that could have been national champions.
They gave Carsen a contract within days of giving Williams one. Also, he's back in the NBA.. I'm not saying Carsen is the better NBA player, but your argument that Carsen wasn't a champ after his performance in this tourney is hilarious
I watched this game in the middle of enemy territory, Knoxville Tennessee. There were at least 30 Tennessee fans surrounding me. I'm surprised I escaped alive.
The refs lost Tennessee the game on the out of bounds call, foul on Edwards three point shot, and the clock at the end with only 0.1 seconds when it should have been like 0.5
To be honest even if there was 0.5 odds are they still old have missed and foul on Carsten Edwards was a good call he was clearly bumping into his legs
Refs were terrible. Im still salty about this game. I was there and Purdue fans were such jerks. Tennessee was the better team and would've had a great shot to beat Virginia
Ball touched Edwards' leg with 2.5 seconds left. Timeout was called with 0.6 seconds left. Terrible mismanagement from the referees. But what else is new in college basketball?
18m39 the entire team was awesome, shot bad early no help to Barnes. Doesn't have it, told chancellor I did..housing dude with bolted back n proof..Best just use him
22 o8. He got fouled on that beautiful missed foul look at his wrists n hands get hit. Oh there's one I got good picks of. Purdue block out called a foul.
12m 18 sec slowdown..dude has a traveling ticket to Rome, slo mo. Announcer uh. Never played ball..and to lose this on a tray 80ft away a guy blocks out on.
When I first watched this live in 2019 it became (and still is) the greatest basketball game I have ever seen. Ryan Cline going nuclear will forever be my favorite March Madness memory.
Man, Carsen Edwards would have been the tournament's most outstanding player had his team advanced to the final four
Sports 311 we would have won
If that happened
CARSEN WAS INSANE THAT TOURNAMENT SHOULD HAVE BEATEN UVA
I'll never forgive Cline for missing that free throw against Virginia. Would have given them a 4-point lead.

@@povertyspec9651 You should though. He was the only reason Purdue made the Elite 8.
"Step-back three for the tie OH! HE'S DONE IT AGAIN!"
Possibly my favorite moment in history of Purdue basketball.
Drew Riley bolier up
@@Jacob_Buehler you hype for today?
@@TyreseHaliburtonIsHim yes sir
@@Jacob_Buehler I think this may be the easiest big ten tourney of all time!
We didn’t even play a double bye!

It was sad that March madness wasn’t on this year

Ninja Aiden that speaks volumes of your fan base
Furious Mittens I have no idea what you are talking about cause Purdue is clearly the best ever
ncaa i looked to the ends of the earth to watch this game thank you SO MUCH
I dont know how many times I have seen and recommended this game, and I still believe this is the greatest basketball game I have ever seen
Even tho this game made me cry as a Tennessee fan, this was an amazing game and I respect Carson Edwards and Purdue. #gboforever
The PA announcer saying "Ryan Cline" after Cline nails a three everytime sounds like a satisfying sound effect in a video game.
Dude Ryan Cline and Carson Edwards went OFF
Five years later, they meet again in the Elite Eight
I remember I was supposed to be at work but I got sick right before this game came on and I’m so glad I was able to watch this game with my dad
Honestly 2019 Purdue should’ve won the tourney they were one of the best teams that we’ve seen in a long time especially when you see the young talent in trevon williams and noelle eastern
one of the greatest college basketball games i've ever seen between two great teams
i remember this game. one of the best in recent years.
Yeah gets me hype for this year
Best game of 2019
completely agree purdue and tennessee were both top 5 teams that year imo. shame one of them had to go out so relatively early

Question: What NCAA BB Team has beaten 3 #1 seeds to win a National Championship?
Answer: Arizona (1997 - defeated #1SE Kansas in Birmingham and then #1E North Carolina and #1W Kentucky OT in Indianapolis).
It surely was not Auburn , who in 2019 beat Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky only to lose to Virginia
in final four game with no time left.
Coach Bruce Pearl did an excellent job growing this team.

Kentucky vs Notre Dame: 2015 Elite Eight.
ive been looking for that game
was a classic
This game was unreal
These teams shot absolutely awful from the free throw line for a sweet sixteen game there was like 30 misses
Ben Kutilek and they both still somehow scored over 90 points
yeah but 90 points though
1:35:00 fastest foul of all time
The Celtics knew who the real champ was from this game. Grant Williams. Where is Carsen edwards now. Playing for some g league team. A foul by turner ruined this magical run that could have been national champions.

purdue is lucky cline had the game of his career cuz tennessee would have ran away with this game
Purdue was blowing them out in the first half well before Cline went off.
I watched this game in the middle of enemy territory, Knoxville Tennessee. There were at least 30 Tennessee fans surrounding me. I'm surprised I escaped alive.

Josh Clark good point
It was BS. Purdue took 7 sec to throw ball in and that was not a foul on the 3 pointer
Where was the foul on Kline at 29:02? Literally didn't see anything that would warrant a whistle.

I predict the winner of this game will have their hearts ripped out and fed to them by Virginia.

Ball touched Edwards' leg with 2.5 seconds left.
Timeout was called with 0.6 seconds left.
Terrible mismanagement from the referees. But what else is new in college basketball?
It didn’t touch his leg but also he stepped out of bounds before the “foul” with 1.7 seconds left
32m36 thats a good basket . No need for 3 Xtra free throws on a block off
18m39 the entire team was awesome, shot bad early no help to Barnes. Doesn't have it, told chancellor I did..housing dude with bolted back n proof..Best just use him
