Any Russian solders left to their fate should immediately call the "I want to live" hotline. They will be treated well because Ukraine needs their own people back in exchange.
I watch the Russian "1420 by Daniil Orain" channel here on YT. Daniil is a savvy interviewer who asks Russian people in the street about certain topical issues. In WW2 there were the Good Germans, the ones who resisted the Nazis. Well, Daniil is one of the Good Russians, knowing what and how to ask everyday Russians questions about the war, where they stand and what they think. It is often hard to get straight replies if the responders are anti war/Putin(and there are many that he comes across), there is much fear there in Russia, but Daniil takes the risks to make people in Russia step up and think. When the Ukraine wins this war I hope they remember and acknowledge folk like Daniil: Ones who resisted in the ways they did to help stop or curb what is so very wrong in Russia and by proxy in the Ukraine with this war. 💙🧿
@@christianevanherck6023 They don't even use articles in Ukrainian: it is a Slavic language. You are coming across as prescriptive and a little precious. If this were the case then we Greeks would have to remove our article from our name Η Ουκρανία, the Portuguese A Ucrânia, the *French* L'Ukraine, and all of the other peoples who use articles before their names they have in their languages for nations (those that do this). And some of these articled names remain in English: the Gambia, the Argentine, the Lebanon, etc. And the hegemony of these nations is not disputed, least of all for the Ukrainians whom we support in their fight to finally be free. 💙🌻
I also watch Daniil. He is a brave man. The Russians whom he interviews are so dumb and most seem to love wars - as long as it is not them who gets mobilized!
@@Theodisc You are coming across as defensive and unaware of sensitivities around this topic, mainly Russians are using it. The use of "the Ukraine" is officially deprecated by the Ukrainian government and many English language media publications. This was so depressing to watch. But very interesting and important, so I'm glad to have seen it. It's good that this guy is revealing the truth about russia's war, and he's encouraging russians not to fight. But this made me so sad!
For context: when he quit his mining job, where he worked double shifts, he was getting paid the equivalent inflation-adjusted sum of $200 per month pre-taxes
Wow, these people don't have choices..they don't have money to leave the country to avoid being drafted. The young russian people don't yet understand what will be the situation in the warzone..
They treat their own citizens as bad as they treat the enemy. Russia has numbers, but that is nowhere near enough to win this conflict. They can't stop the stories spreading around their own troops, about how they are treated badly, not equipped, poorly trained, not payed etc. It would destroy what little motivation they have. I believe it is just a matter of time before there is a partial or total collapse of Russian military. Corruption eats away like a disease, and had already infected the Russian military. Hence the unbelievable problems they have had.
Nothing good has come to the ppl of the occupied territories of Ukraine, even those who may have been in favour of seccession in 2014 must surely see the unfolding disaster and regret that they allowed themselves to be manipulated by Russia. As this man says their lives were much, much better before.

Don't defend Putin his ideas! Putin's worst fear is that the Russian people will see Ukrainians living a better life in a free society and will figure out that oppression does not improve their lives.
It’s doesn’t make sense to exchange all these people for Ukraine soldiers. They will be back on the front line trying to kill you again within a week. Exchange the old and injured. The rest could be put to use cleaning up after Russian missile strike. So they know what they do.
Even without any translation, you could tell this guy and many thousands of those who've died in Ukraine, in nooks and crannies never to be found until years after the war... are NOT professionally trained soldiers with the necessary clothing, hair cut, shoes, and other equipment. With $100B pumped into Ukraine just the last 1.8 years, however, most Ukrainian soldiers, from the life long pros to the newly conscripts, are well supplied with weapons, clothing, light body armor, basic maneuver sessions (tens of thousands also having trained in the West, by experienced NATO guys who've been in many wars in the last 40 years)....
I used to have sympathy for these guys. I used to think they were just more victims of the brutal regime of terroruZZia. However, they have guns and ammunition. If they chose, they could break their indoctrination and fight in the opposite direction when the "friendly" fire started coming in. Слава Україні!

The perfect answer to an idiotic comment. ( in 1918 in Germany the workers were paid two times during a day cause the inflation would go to the sky in matter of hours. A billion marks were just enough to buy food for two or three days. Let's compare now with the cost of cigarettes in Dombas or New Zealand. Do you think it is idiotic????
Yep, they earn 3.5 million rubles a year and yet they are still poorer than the average Ukrainian. Why, it costs 350 million rubles just for a house in New Zealand. Immigration has made the cost of living so expensive, even the big money you earn still means you are poor. A cup of coffee in New Zealand set you back 2000 rubles as well. The governments answer print more money and pay more, only the more you get the sooner you find yourself paying a higher tax bracket, essentially meaning the more you earn the less you get. It is a net win for the government, but for the average person, it is a complete scam. The focus shouldn't be on increasing pay, but on decreasing the cost of living. Something the New Zealand government won't help with. One obvious way for the government to decrease costs is by doing away with GST/ VAT. The worst gangster tax in the world.
A lot of these blokes being interviewed have dirty hands - Are they being interviewed just after capture, do they not have access to washing facilities or do they just have poor personal hygiene?
Russians generally have very poor hygiene. Many homes outside the cities do not have inside bathrooms. If you visit a major city and you need to use the bathroom, the babushka will hand you TWO pieces of hard toilet paper (like UK schoolchildren used in the 1960's). Personal observation of public facilities I noticed that washing your hands after wiping is not commonplace.
Prisoners by definition cannot give free consent, showing their faces is still prohibited by the Geneva Convention. Just because Russia doesn't follow the Convention doesn't absolve Ukraine from doing so. Be better than Russia, stop breaching the Geneva Convention.
Why do UATV use a translator with such a stilted and heavy accent that is very difficult to follow. It would have been better to use subtitles, plus it allows us to hear the demeanour of the interviewee.
Fully agree . I made the point and was mildly reproached. Linguistically the "th" sound is not that difficult to learn to pronounce correctly. It bugs me too .

FYI: The Ukrainian position is that the usage of 'The Ukraine' is incorrect both grammatically and politically.
Ukraine is the official full name of the country, as stated in its declaration of independence and its constitution; there is no official alternative long name.
I saw a video on a telegram of six Russian soldiers swimming across a river. They were met on the other side by Ukrainian soldiers with blankets!!!!!

In this ever chanching world, there's one thing that never changes... russia. NKVD, FSB, stalin, putin... it's all the same.
Wow, these people don't have choices..they don't have money to leave the country to avoid being drafted. The young russian people don't yet understand what will be the situation in the warzone..

Yes, the title of this video is a bit ambiguous, because this man is an Ukrainian.
@@dougveganparadisebuilder5808 He shouldn't be considered a prisoner of war but a liberated Ukrainian citizen.
I was seriously amazed that such an older man was brought to battle. According to what you often hear, the Russians don't resort to such tactics.
He looks like.75 years old for sure
Terrible life in Russia for sure 😂
They treat their own citizens as bad as they treat the enemy. Russia has numbers, but that is nowhere near enough to win this conflict. They can't stop the stories spreading around their own troops, about how they are treated badly, not equipped, poorly trained, not payed etc. It would destroy what little motivation they have. I believe it is just a matter of time before there is a partial or total collapse of Russian military. Corruption eats away like a disease, and had already infected the Russian military. Hence the unbelievable problems they have had.

I think, legally he is still a Ukrainian citizen and can stay in Ukraine.
Nothing good has come to the ppl of the occupied territories of Ukraine, even those who may have been in favour of seccession in 2014 must surely see the unfolding disaster and regret that they allowed themselves to be manipulated by Russia. As this man says their lives were much, much better before.
Stop the war !!!

💛🇺🇦💙
Good advice.
That's to old army.. That's the army of second super power in the world.. tsk tsk tsk..

I used to have sympathy for these guys. I used to think they were just more victims of the brutal regime of terroruZZia. However, they have guns and ammunition. If they chose, they could break their indoctrination and fight in the opposite direction when the "friendly" fire started coming in.

What a weird, weird comment. Like a Martian pretending to be an Earthling. Average New Zealander earns over 3.5MILLION rubles a year.
@@eh1702 Dude it's great context. Imagine yourself in Russia learning that an average person in New Z earns 3.5 million rubles a year.

Ужасный перевод, монотонный голос, слушать очень трудно. Где можно увидеть это интервью в оригинале?
A lot of these blokes being interviewed have dirty hands - Are they being interviewed just after capture, do they not have access to washing facilities or do they just have poor personal hygiene?
Russians generally have very poor hygiene. Many homes outside the cities do not have inside bathrooms. If you visit a major city and you need to use the bathroom, the babushka will hand you TWO pieces of hard toilet paper (like UK schoolchildren used in the 1960's). Personal observation of public facilities I noticed that washing your hands after wiping is not commonplace.
Dirty hands? Did you even watch the video? He got wounded, what you see on his hand are scabs!
