Very interesting review & I listened intently. Many years ago I bought a Discovery TDi 300 and bought an extended warranty. The very next service, it needed some warranty work doing and I was assured by the Dealer that it was covered by my extended warranty, no problem. When I came to pick it up, I was told "sorry, it is not covered so £500+ please". A big row ensued and we ended up going 50/50. The very next service, I was presented with a quote for a couple of pipes that needed replacing, the cost of which was very similar to the 50% the Dealer had contributed to the last issue. I did another 80,000 miles or so and sold it without ever having the 2 pipes replaced. Make sure you read and understand ALL OF THE SMALL PRINT. No such thing as a free lunch.
Very interesting review. When you were discussing the extended warranty and said "scared not to", that doubt over the reliability is real. Nice bit of kit though. I would expect oil leaks in connections if the loader is being removed regularly. If it's on all the time, it shouldn't leak.
Great video Andrew, thanks for sharing the review, being a Massey Ferguson fan it helps us in buying new tractors and equipment, thanks again have a blessed evening
Maybe its just me and my way of doing things but I change oil and filter every 200 hours on my old Massey 5460 as I dont have the same faith in oil as the manufacturers have but it looks good for them not to have to change oil too often in the brochures. I know where you are coming from when you mention 165 and 135 and these newer ones are fantastic when working but with add blue and sensors everywhere they are a potential money pit if not maintained well and I can see why you would consider extra warranty but they will obviously stop you repeating it at a certain age or make it financially outrageous to renew. Good video and hard to beat seeing these videos from real farmer's and not journalists..
Pretty sad situation when you have to take out extra warranty on a one year old tractor, it doesn’t say much for the reliability. Massey used to be renowned for reliability. Maybe that was because they were British 🇬🇧 built at Banner lane in Coventry.
Agco seem to put profit before quality and reliability these days. I hear of lots of problems with all the Agco brands, Massey, Valtra and Fendt. It would definitely put me off. Well unless the local dealer had your back anyway.
Hi, have you had any add Blue issues with it? I have a 5s 145 and its been a absolute nightmare, the tractor is fully loaded and is a really nice tractor to use its just the add Blue issues.
Shims would work fine on the loader movement very surprisingly that quicke didn't suggest that already and get your dealer to fit them very easy job and lots of loading or digging machines already have them from brand new
Interesting review, thanks. Out of interest, what do MF want for an extra years cover and are there any exclusions ? Daughters Boyfriend runs JD, they upgraded to 3 yr warrantee + all maintenance but apparently it was expensive but at the price of repairs to a 250r that also goes contracting, its a no brainer I suppose.
We have one and had the def pump go and it was under warranty thank god because they were back and forth alot and the pump was in the thousands. Dealer pretty much told us to delete it. The engine dipstick is not easily accessible. The hood has these stupid Allen key buttons . The Perkins 4 cylinder is why I fell in love with Massey and the 4 cylinder sisu will outright fall on its face unless you rev it up a bit
Hi good review! Sounds like the roof drip is from air con unit freezing up. We have a quickie loader on flat face couplings and they’re rubbish. The old 1/2qr fittings never leaked. We have a 06 5455 loader tractor it’s great pulls like a train and a nice bark with some black smoke 👌

Bit weird the loader was the width the same on both side's
Glad the tractors been OK

I took out 2 years extra warranty on my 5s after having a very troublesome 5712. I think it's definitely worth the extra expense now.
How much for extra warranty
Only one yrs, that's a bit mean..
For the cost of them.
Is it not somthing to do with the tractor not having a true line chissis, seen it on quickie loader on a nh
