I own that same rig, have about 18 months on it. Only complaint is I can't keep the battery charged. It's super fast, cab setup is hard to do without now. I personally liked the Kubota version best. Fuel economy and cut where better than the Ferris for me. The Ferris is faster and rides better.
I have the kubota version I think we chatted before. the switch on the kubota is set to around 70% for the a/c. I tried taking it out and then adjusting it down to like 40% both times battery dies out pretty fast. Wish we could get an alternator for just the a/c and blower side. Definitely needs more power. And man I would kill for a sliding window or two, I have cut in the spring now with the doors off.
Yes on the intercom video. I am new to a cab tractor and my wife always thinks I am yelling at her when she is in the cab. I think this would make her feel better
the JD 1585 with cab and A/C is the next machine you have to try. Being a front mower you can definitely cut under trees even with low hanging branches. You can also get a rear discharge deck, which is nice. Our customers also use it in the winter with a blade or a snowblower for sidewalks or small parking lots. You have to show it on the channel!
Yes to the intercom systems your using. It was great to see everyone being able to communicate in the pond video you made with 4 different tractors going at the same time. I would love to see a video about your communications setup.
Hey my name is Josh and I have a Lawn Service in East TX. I have just ordered a John Deere z970R with the cab over air conditioner. I'm excited about getting it, I've been I'm this business for 30 yrs and never thought of having a zero turn with ac. But thanks for showing me about it because since I saw you with it I had to get one. Thanks Josh
@@TractorTimewithTim Ive never checked the Db but it is not quiet, you need ear protection still.. I know some people do some additional sealing to the cab that helps with some of the noise
I don't have the cab, but the 3300 with the 40hp engine is a beast. I just mowed knee high damp grass with one pass near full speed a few hours ago. When it's dry it's full stick... I love it. I mow 14 acres with mine.
I would be nervous flying at that speed. I took out the the deck frame for the blades on a driveway edge on my Deere X590 at much slower speed. It would be spectacular (and much more expensive) to hit something at the speed he's going.
Along with testing the Ferris, it was a good opportunity for you to share a lot of information about what all is going on. Nice to catch up. Also, your communication sets sound great. Blessings.
Tim,, I love your reviews of different equipment, your knowledge is unmatched in this area. Thanks for your guidance and direction with these many items. I so enjoy your channel!
Personally, I would not cut the new grass but let it grow up so the grass blades are longer. This helps to develop the root system; which helps the grass thrive and spread; and a more developed root system helps the grass survive the hot, dry days of summer, although we are getting plenty of rain here in eastern Missouri.
Just put a factory cab on my HR5111 jacobsen love it now looking to put AC on it mounting the compressed will be the most challenging it does have a heater so everything in the cab will be easy
I currently have a 3300 without a cab on demo right now and the machine is a beast. You can mow full speed and with the 40hp it won’t leave any standing grass behind. The suspension handles the speed but honestly the mower is too fast, it’s faster than what you really need. Also went through the right side fuel tank in two hours so the thing obviously guzzles fuel. Definitely a nice mower but it seems like it’s best for properties like Tim’s that are wide open mowing with acreage. This isn’t the mower for commercial mowing or a property that is on the smaller side.
I'd definitely like to hear about the different ear protection intercoms. We use the Walker Razor head phones with their clip-on PTT walkie-talkie. The VOX doesn't work well when it's loud around equipment, but the PTT works great and we can talk/hear each other about 1/2 mile away through the woods/hills. That's the reason I went with that instead of the Sena, which I think uses kind of a high powered bluetooth.
I have JD Z970R with curits cab for 4 weeks ; much less dust and much cooler but not cold in bright sun but comfortable in Mid 90s day in Georgia. It is worth it to me
I would love to hear reviews about different hearing protection devices. I’m trying to find a good pair and I don’t even know where to look or where to start. I would love to know your feedback and opinions. Money would not be an obstacle.
I have this same mower only with the Kawasaki engine. I bought it because my 5 acres of bump country lawn has helped take its toll on my back. I had to have fusion surgery on my back at the beginning of this year for a disc that was blown out and severe pinched nerve so I knew I was going to have to make some changes. The mower it replaced was a Kubota zg127S. The kubota has been a great mower as far as reliability and does have a suspension seat but after you ride a Ferris there is no comparison. The suspension seat on the ferris is far superior and the suspension on the mower makes you feel like you float across the ground. They did an amazing job as far as that is concerned. Mine was about $17k out the door after rebates and negotiation and if you had asked me a year or two ago if I ever would pay that amount for a mower I would have laughed. Its honestly worth every penny. My teen daughter helps me mow and I did turn down the speed limiters on the sticks because the mower is FAST. My only gripe is the mower is heavy and with the new tires if the ground is even slightly damp it likes to pull grass at the tires during a pivot. We still haven't figured out a good method to prevent that.
I love my Ferris zero turn mower. Now Ferris is building mowers for Stihl with a very similar suspension. Neil's kubota burned in a garage fire and now he has a Ferris

Nice 0-Turn! It goes really FAST. I would seriously think of getting one if if I hadn't recently got a diesel 'Vinny' w/ 60" deck. I think my preference would be to use the 12' batwing for the big part of your lawn and Vinny for trimming; from your equipment choices; I do realize not all have such equipment. My wife and I recently got the Sena 4 comms to put in Pfanner Helmets (when chipping, etc.). We hated not being able to communicate well (if at all) when using very noise equipment. My wife had asked sometime ago about your comms and believe she said the Sena 4 is what you use (in the Stihl headset), or at least one of the types that you use. I would definitely be interested in watching a review on the comm types which at least you use, and perhaps a few others that may send them to you for review. Thanks so much for the work you and Christy do; putting these videos together, etc.
I would like to hear your findings for noise cancelling coms/hearing protection. Tree industry has some good integrated offerings but noise cancelling is all but non-existent.
I love my Ferris ISX800 mower. An AC cab on it would be great. I have almost no trees to be an issue. With about seven acres to mow that cab would be great. I don't think you can beat a Ferris mower.
Is that actually cutting all the grass at that speed???? That is amazing. My 50" 2023 mower probably only moves 5 or 6 MPH which feels really, really slow compared to my 2008 Dixon...but the Dixon is only 30".
Yes. I’m as surprised as you. I should have shown some close ups of the cut grass. If I looked really hard, I could find a few sprigs but I would say it cut as good at high speed as a rear discharge deck at any speed :-)
I have a Kubota ZD1211 diesel 60 inch deck with a Curtis cab coming in a couple weeks. Dust was overwhelming last year in the drought last year in Minnesota. A/C and more importantly filtered air or sell the property was the ultimatum. I know leaks are possible but get creative with insulation and tape! No overhanging vegatation to get into on our property so no concern there. I liked the idea of not filling all the time with the diesel. My Deere 1026R with 60 inch deck I'm keeping just sips it. 13 gallon cap with two tanks on the ZD1211 should do it. The Deere X590 with 54 inch deck I traded in I had to fill constantly. Love watching your channel. And we love most of your values :)
Yes, be creative with plugging the holes. The Deere had such large openings that I found them hard to plug. Not so with the Ferris. I’m sure I could improve it, but it is already much better. Anyway, congratulations on your purchase!
@@TractorTimewithTim Kubota dealer says keeping the vent window open and then closing door is the practice. Apparently they have it sealed well enough it's hard to close the door from air pressure. It'll be interesting to see!
I'm buying a ZD1211 with 60" deck in 5 days. Dealer install cost of the cab is $2,000, They said if I install it it would void the warranty. I looked at the 40 HP Ferris and leftover model from last year is $17,000 72" deck, and $13k cab. But 2 gallons of gas per hour of gas on Ferris vs. 3/4 gallons of diesel was the deal breaker. I just got a bulk tank for diesel and want to get fuel delivered for free and use it summer and winter. I also heard the diesel engines last longer and it took me a year to convince my wife to get a zero turn and we already have a blue 26 HP tractor for snow removal, bought 2 years ago. I want to upgrade the ZD1211 seat with the ZD1511 air ride seat, but its $1,800 at Messicks. Neal Messick mentioned in his video the ZD1211 72" bogged down a little bit at full speed up hill. Niel mention there is a micro switch on the throttle that shuts the air conditioning off so you don't have to worry about flipping the switch a/c yourself, the switch allows the air conditioning only to run at full throttle. Cab options, not including dealer labor, prices for Kubota cab as of last week: Wiper Kit (1KUBZD1211WK) $411.25 for the wiper kit. Console Kit (1KUBZD1211CK) $190.00 Light Kit (1KUBZD1211LK) $248.75 Side View Mirror Kit (9PM5)$164.29 ( Niel mentions in his video that mirrors are a joke because they vibrate too much!). I'm getting the wiper and console kit. I'll find cheaper work light, as I tend to mow after dark some. Niel also said the a/c works really good in his video, and it better for over 13k for the cab addon. Lol
@@Golfboy-ze3le Kubota dealer said they had a person return their ZD1211 with cab because the A/C never worked after having it a month. Kubota discovered they were keeping the rpm too low! Now they haven't heard from them for a year :)
that beast is fast. Just watching you fly down the path. We have Bad Boy that goes 7 mph but you can barely stay in the seat at that speed on our rough ground.
Tim that’s a wild machine. But goodness I wish that I could use a mower setup like that on my big property. I can use a Zero Turn but not one with a cab. I told my financial committee that I need a new 1025r like Johnny X.
I currently have six ferris mowers three sit downs and three standers. They are constantly in the shop. Belts hydro pumps spindles engines. They range from 200 hours to 900 hours. All have very regular service. Also have two wrights and two scags that very rarely have to go to the shop. For me switching to the Ferris has been a very costly mistake.
Tim, in 2017 we purchased a Ferris Model #2100Z 61" mower after I had my 3rd back surgery. I have owned various zero turn mowers over the years, including Woods, Toro, Husqvarna, Kubota and others. We selected the Ferris mainly because of the suspension, as my last Kubota cut great but I knew in rough areas it would be really tough on my back. We have been using zero turn mowers since back in the 90's and love them for speed and efficiency. My wife started using it shortly after I got home from the hospital, and never gave it to me. It is her mower and she loves mowing, about a 6 hr job on our large farm yard. She is still mowing and continues to LOVE her mower, while I'm currently recovering from nerve damage from my fourth spine surgery. The recovery is in the Lord's hands. I wanted to ask an unrelated question. Do you have a suggested email address and phone number you could recommend in addressing John Deere on there current corporate woke policies? Thanks, we always enjoy your informative utube messages. Bob
WOW 30 grand. I can save a ton of money, I'm going to cobble a 6ft deck onto the front of an older Cadillac. Comes with A/C in the 'cab', quiet, and comfy ride as well.
THANK YOU for the review on this machine, hadn't heard of one like it before and watched out of curiosity. Couple thoughts. To me, it seems like obscene overkill. And typical of we Americans where everything gets bigger, fatter and heavier. The cab looks like it came from an articulated, 8 wheel drive, 550 HP JD 9630 (Which I've got about 80 hours on, thanks to a farmer friend). The inability to cut near low hanging branches would be a deal killer for me (Someone did mention another unit with front hanging mower which would solve that problem). The weak AC and high electrical drain is a big negative, IMO. Another thing. I just don't get it when guys ram their throttles to full wide open even when creeping around trimming areas. Yes, the manufacturers recommend that. The same manufacturers that sell replacement engines. Anyway, just my thoughts. Would be cool (Pun intended) to have AC and impress the other neighborhood dwellers. Signed, Guy who's been mowing for 60 years. Owner of a 1975 one owner Cub 1650 that is still going strong despite years of mowing and blowing snow with it and very regular oil and hydro oil changes which I always do myself. Also a 5 year old Cub ZT2 zero turn with about 220 hours on it and regular engine oil and hydro oil changes which I do myself. Oh, and I always sharpen my own blades.
I’ve always thought it would be helpful if the mower deck (on any company’s platform) had the ability to shift left 8 to 10 inches. That would be so helpful around limbs and shrubs. With every company always searching for the next best idea, I wonder why that’s never been considered.
The cab would be cool in open spaces. It wouldn't work on our yard at all. We are a John Deere family and l was a hard core tractor guy. Then my grandson let me try his and that was it. I had a Z Turn the next weekend. I don't know if l would want to mow with a tractor anymore.
At 1st figure trimming the trees would help with the cab or just use a different mower. As I was watching was getting curious how safe that is on slops? Always the worry of tipping over
@@TractorTimewithTim had one particular slope in mind at my dads that I’ve mowed. Hard to explain it without taking a picture. If you mowed it going down than up the septic mound it’s like unloading from one pickup bed then right up into slightly taller pickup bed, Never mowed with zero turns, feeling like they are more prone to tip than a tractor.
It won’t freeze you out , but it will make it pleasant enough to be enjoyable. It gets the humidity out, and keeps your neck and back cool. Overall, a positive experience. I don’t think I could say ‘it will keep it at 78,80,etc, as it will cool on you, and much hotter near the windows.
I would be curious if AC Curtis cab is that much cooler than the Ventrac with the fan on the sunshade. Plus, is the Ferris that much more comfortable than the Ventrac when mowing with wide area mower deck.
Tim, could you confirm if this is a gas or diesel motor please - thanks! I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on wheels v tweels on zero turns too if possible.
@@HCH9990 tweels take the jarring out. I returned my 740r back to stock when I traded for the 760r. All accessories fit the new mower. The jiggle/jarring from bumps are minimized with Tweels. I have Tweels front and rear
I went to my John Deere dealer to buy some tweels, holy Toledo have you priced those things. Two rear tires for a mower were as much as a set of Nitto for my truck. NO! It isn't like I don't have tires on it now. The tweels were softer with a larger ground patch for better traction. No problem I have air valves. I started decreasing the psi being sure to keep them the same, I liked these at 12 psi. Thinking I had reinvented the wheel I was telling a pro landscaper, he rung 9 psi in his. It helps tremendously on ride quality and traction plus it's free, if ya don't like it air them back up. I might add we live in east Tennessee in the mountains so a zero turn get a good test of it's ability around here. I prefer a 4x4 BX size tractor.
The only thing I could think of that would be better is a drone in the air (projecting it's camera onto the big screen tv) while following your remotely controlled mower while you're sitting on the couch in the AC 😂. ❤
i saw a trench .. inlet or outlet? did you consider road runoff / trench for filling the pond? I may have missed one but i dont remember missing one ...
WOW $30 to $40k for a zero turn. I mean honestly i remember those hot summer fays running a z mower every day wishing someone would come out with an AC cab for a z mower. That was back around '00-06.
Interesting video. I can't personally justify the cost of one and since it takes me 20 minutes to mow my whole yard at like 2-5mph on my Deere rider... I might be able to mow my yard in like 48 seconds if I survived the experience.
GREAT mower, try wheat or oat seed in your yard... See if that works... Like that mower, and the information you put out.. 😊.. try a track mower on your ditch.. 😊😊😅
At that speed you almost need a mowing helmet.. That's something I don't think they've invented yet? Maybe a GPS locator if it turns over on the door and you can't escape. I don't know how top heavy the cab is. lol My Z920 doesn't get enough traction to turn over. It could get stuck on wet pavement.
lol, the speed of that is so fast, the corn was a blur. lol, lol. man! it's nice though. hm, it would nice if it was 40db. might be nice to have the windows tinted? the cut is looking good.
I have the kubota version. Like anything has its plus and minus. The mirrors for me are useless as they vibrate way to much. Surprisingly I have used the wiper and fluid more than I thought I would. I know it would defeat the purpose of a sealed cab but I wish the windows would slide open on a nice 70 degree day. I have actually cut with the doors off a few times before it got hot. Wish the blower was better on the a/c but since its right over o top of you I can feel it. on a 100 degree day the cab can be down to 80 which is good. I asked curtis about the wide open throttle and its definitely a battery issue. I think my kubota doesnt even have an alternator just a charger. On my model there is a switch that got installed. Looks like the 1/c will pop off, or I guess on at 70% or more throttle. So doesn't have to be wide open but most of the way. I bypassed it when i got it and dead battery. I would think an extra alternator like they do on the bx25/23 add on unit would be the fix. I would pay extra for it
To anyone that buys this mower or one like it stay away from the vanguard efi my hustler has less than 500 hrs on it, and has had 3 sets of pushrods, 2 heads, and a burnt valve. I run amsoil zrod oil, and non ethanol fuel!

Cab options, not including dealer labor, prices for Kubota cab as of last week:
Wiper Kit (1KUBZD1211WK) $411.25 for the wiper kit.
Console Kit (1KUBZD1211CK) $190.00
Light Kit (1KUBZD1211LK) $248.75
Side View Mirror Kit (9PM5)$164.29 ( Niel mentions in his video that mirrors are a joke because they vibrate too much!).
I would like to see the intercom video. We seem to have a need for one and would love the practical information.
Lawn looks real nice. How would the Deere version of the Jacobsen 9611 trideck 16'rotory mower compare?
I can’t wait to get one for the landscaping business.
that beast is fast. Just watching you fly down the path. We have Bad Boy that goes 7 mph but you can barely stay in the seat at that speed on our rough ground.
The suspension, cab, and seat make this one comfy and smooth!
Tim that’s a wild machine. But goodness I wish that I could use a mower setup like that on my big property. I can use a Zero Turn but not one with a cab. I told my financial committee that I need a new 1025r like Johnny X.
If I was mowing all day I would buy that in a heartbeat just for the ac I’m to old and had to many cheeseburgers to be out in the heat
It’s miserable for sure 😂
I think the Kubota equipment lawn mower zero-turn has an AC. As well. If they do which one is better to buy between the ferris and Kubota.
Definitely would like to see an intercom video
I currently have six ferris mowers three sit downs and three standers. They are constantly in the shop. Belts hydro pumps spindles engines. They range from 200 hours to 900 hours. All have very regular service. Also have two wrights and two scags that very rarely have to go to the shop. For me switching to the Ferris has been a very costly mistake.
Would definitely watch intercom video. Particularly a bit on compatability between different types/brands.
That thing is flying at full mowing speed. Damn.
Great review. Looks like a premium offering for sure. I would be interested in a comparison between different intercoms.
Bob

Thanks Tim...have a great day.
Maybe a few shade trees to keep that water cooler?? Love to see some fish go in there, start off small, your building a ecosystem. Love the content.
WOW 30 grand. I can save a ton of money, I'm going to cobble a 6ft deck onto the front of an older Cadillac. Comes with A/C in the 'cab', quiet, and comfy ride as well.
Sounds like fun!
Tim I think your yard looks great. I love your property. 👍👍
Any interest in timed mowing for the tower property with this? Maybe after you mowed with another mower that way your not stressing it.
Should try cub cadet they have a mower the yall will love it's a wide deck and fast
Signed,
Guy who's been mowing for 60 years.
This lawn care stuff is getting crazy!
At 1st figure trimming the trees would help with the cab or just use a different mower. As I was watching was getting curious how safe that is on slops? Always the worry of tipping over
With this wide stance, didn’t feel tipsy at all. We showed some slope mowing.
@@TractorTimewithTim had one particular slope in mind at my dads that I’ve mowed. Hard to explain it without taking a picture. If you mowed it going down than up the septic mound it’s like unloading from one pickup bed then right up into slightly taller pickup bed,
Never mowed with zero turns, feeling like they are more prone to tip than a tractor.
Not sure of your deck height but somewhere around 4-4.5 inches really makes a difference on a lawn
4”
Thanks sir for the updares!
Yes on the intercom video please.
I wonder about that AC system down here in the south on 102 degrees day like today how she would keep up with the heat
Hey tim being you are working with Curtis ,are they or anybody you know going to come out with a cab with air for 1025r
Doubt it. There is not a large enough market. The factory cab is made by a competitor, so no room for Curtis to squeeze in there.
One day, all lawn mowers will come standard with air conditioning😅. I think I could be persuaded. Pretty smooth lawn to run like that.👍
I would be curious if AC Curtis cab is that much cooler than the Ventrac with the fan on the sunshade. Plus, is the Ferris that much more comfortable than the Ventrac when mowing with wide area mower deck.
Yes, and yes.
@@TractorTimewithTim So I guess Ventrac needs to talk to Curtis Cab about a deal. LOL
@@jimmcknight3021yes!
Tim, could you confirm if this is a gas or diesel motor please - thanks! I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on wheels v tweels on zero turns too if possible.
40hp gas.
This machine doesn’t need tweels. It rides wonderfully…at least with the cab.
@@HCH9990 tweels take the jarring out. I returned my 740r back to stock when I traded for the 760r. All accessories fit the new mower. The jiggle/jarring from bumps are minimized with Tweels. I have Tweels front and rear
@@MJF40 @TractorTimewithTim - thank you both for your replies. 👏
I've had an ISX3100 for nine years and would only trade it for a 3300. It's been a wonderful machine. No cab for me. 😊
Ha! At these speeds, I’m pretty busy driving!
i saw a trench .. inlet or outlet? did you consider road runoff / trench for filling the pond? I may have missed one but i dont remember missing one ...
Wow, I have talked about this repeatedly.
The corn is looking good. Do you think deer will be a problem?
Typically not. Not sure why.
Tint the windows to keep inside cab alittle cooler
GREAT mower, try wheat or oat seed in your yard... See if that works... Like that mower, and the information you put out.. 😊.. try a track mower on your ditch.. 😊😊😅
At that speed you almost need a mowing helmet.. That's something I don't think they've invented yet? Maybe a GPS locator if it turns over on the door and you can't escape. I don't know how top heavy the cab is. lol My Z920 doesn't get enough traction to turn over. It could get stuck on wet pavement.
I honestly can’t believe you are driving one of these. I didn’t know you cared for Ferris lol.
Don’t particularly care about the brand. Just trying to provide informative reviews.
@@TractorTimewithTim 😭😭😭straight to the heart!
lol, the speed of that is so fast, the corn was a blur. lol, lol. man! it's nice though. hm, it would nice if it was 40db. might be nice to have the windows tinted? the cut is looking good.
Christy: 'Hey Dufus.......tck tck tck......yo!"
You should try a RC mower.
Yes, that would make a neat video, barring any run-ins with the pond.
Love the ferris mowers I have one but there not cheap
What did u spray on sweet corn?
How does it do on a yard that has a lot of slopes and uneven terrain?
We show one slope…our ditch bank.
Clear bra the windows would be a good investment
Wow, I would love to own that lawnmower. Maybe when I become a millionaire.😂
I would pay extra for it
All good!
Now Christy needs to demo a Polaris with A/c and heat
We have a gator with a/c and heat.
@@TractorTimewithTim Damn, Sorry I watched your channel!!
@@RonsHorsewhat does that mean? Not sure I understand.
you should try a john deere 1585
To anyone that buys this mower or one like it stay away from the vanguard efi my hustler has less than 500 hrs on it, and has had 3 sets of pushrods, 2 heads, and a burnt valve. I run amsoil zrod oil, and non ethanol fuel!
Is it more top heavy with the cab on compered to without it on?
I’m sure it is, but on this wide of a track, doesn’t feel tipsy at all.
Maybe a silly question but do you really want to be spraying grass into the pond?
looks great.
How much power does it take from the engine to run that? And also how does ot handle thicker taller grass, kinda boring watching it cut normal grass.
Suspension is ideal
That is definitely waterhemp in your sweet corn. 😉
I used to have a Ferris IS-3200 and absolutely hated the cut quality and power on hills. I was very disappointed and will never buy another Ferris
That would seem to be engine dependent.
