Pick up new hobbies and learn new skills. Find your passions. Do things that stimulate creativity. Artistic things like painting, photography, interior decorating, etc. Learn a musical instrument. Read books. Explore new music.
Exercise and sporty things are a good way to expend bad feelings too. Doesn't have to be the standard going to the gym. Learn boxing, martial arts or yoga. Go swimming, hiking, biking, etc. Go out into nature. Visit state parks or national parks.

"glorified pacifier" thank you I'm going to start calling it that. I grew up around nicotine abusers my entire life and when I was younger I tried a cigarette because my whole family did it and everyone else I looked up to and no matter how many times I asked them to stop they didn't I didn't understand and I wanted to. I tried it and I was repulsed, I could never bring myself to drink alcohol or smoke cigs/vape after that.
Edit: since I came off as aggressive I'd just like to point out I'm just sharing my experience. I understand why people get addicted to things but I don't understand what it's like to be addicted.

My mom was a heavy smoker for a good portion of her life. She started at 9 years of age and it was due to peer pressure from family members that also smoked. She didn't quit until after it almost killed her or could have easily left her a vegetable. She quit when she realized how it affected her children to see her go through that. She quit cold turkey and hasn't smoked a cigarette since. I'm proud of my mom for it. Honestly the best way to stop vaping is to read/watch videos about how it negatively affects your body. Constant reminders of that can put you off it for the moment. And when you crave one, literally not having one nearby is the simplest solution. I once craved it so badly, I looked around the entire house to see if we had any left after getting rid of them, and when I didn’t find any, I just let the feeling pass and forgot it about an hour later.

It still has to be a personal decision to quit, the exposure to information doesn't matter. There's better ways, but there's no "best way". I personally love nicotine and will never quit despite being well educated on the harmful effrcts, I just have the personal preference of enjoying certain things in life (its more complicated than that) and am satisfied with my decision, but that doesn't apply to other people, nor should it.

For me it all boiled down to “do I wanna be labeled as a smoker?” And I always thought of that when I get the urges to start smoking again.
Hitting the gym hard, drinking a bunch of water, reducing caffeine intake, and finding distractions when the urges get bad are what helped me stay off of it this long.
If I can do it, everyone can do it. Trust me your quality of life will improve so much. I have way more friends, look a lot better, I’m much more productive, and I’m overall very happy with my life once I quit.

There are effective ways to stop smoking anything nicotine or not, I wouldn’t recommend just cold turkeying it or else you are more likely to fail and go back to it. You must be gentle to your system, it’s used to having then and suddenly it’s taken away, so you have to adjust. but if you are smoking with nicotine use nic patches or gum and slowly ween off of those, have something to satisfy the hand to mouth habit (it’s almost a form of stimming and that’s a big reason ppl continue smoking bc of the hand to mouth action, it’s self stimulatory), gain a new ritual like if you sit outside and smoke, make your favorite drink and prepare it calmly and go enjoy it outside (also satisfies hand to mouth motion), and meditation is a huge one. It helps gain discipline and regulation over your mind and body, and mediation is so many things. Not just sitting in a dark room going “Ohmmmm” (altho that one is rlly nice, just not for everyone esp at first), start doing meditative activities like painting, playing something musically just intuitively, don’t try to learn or create a song, just play it intuitively, lots of different ways to meditate. It is possible to quit!! (Also lollipops are great for satisfying the hand to mouth action through out the day, or a hard candy or something, even gum)
