The comment about the lubricator inside the tank feeding the inside motion, it doesn't. It's a displacement type lubricator for the cylinders. So don't forget to oil the inside and outside motion axleboxes etc. Watch keith appletons series on rebuilding one of these engines to get a good idea of its positive and negative sides.

Fire little and often and keep the fire hole door shut as much as possible
I do not use a shovel, I use a shute made from a bit of thin brass. With this I can shove a handful of coal in at a time.
I ran at my clubs open days for many years hauling 1/2 ton of passengers with my 0-4-2 tank. Never ran out of steam or broke down.

Jenny. I am looking forwards to seeing you steam your loco. I hope that you start from the basics and share your experiences of learning to drive. I have thought of buying an Sivercrest loco as a tribute to my late father en ex railway signalman at Crows Nest Junction and other boxes in the area. At the moment I am modelling in On30. It didn't take you long to make the leap from O scale. You will be up to 1 to 1 soon.

Hi Jenny, welcome to 14xx 5" World. I've had a Kingscale 1420 since 2019. Great fun but you do need plenty of practice and guidance in how to run it properly and safely. I'm sure you will get plenty of that at this track.

It will be running after winter. We had a couple of issues with it (not due to the previous owner) so those needed to be sorted before we can get up and running.

Watched your video with interest, I am thinking about getting into the hobby myself as a bit of a change. I have built boats for many years including steam launches and several steam tug boats, however locomotives seam to be a completely different kettle of fish ! Everyone you speak to seems to be an expert but when it comes to the rub of operating them their seems to be a lot of people flapping around like headless chickens and a lot of their hardware just never seems to run correctly ?! So they are obviously not experts ! I would want to see the thing running perfectly before I handed over my hard earned money !

Evening Jennifer, what plans do you have for steaming your new acquisition. Do you have a location in mind? I presume you're aware of the miniature rail track in Moss Bank Park, do you know if this is still used and would you be able to run your loco on it?
