Common air leak on a Freightliner Cascadia, pass through manifold or air manifold

  • Common air leak on the Freightliner Cascadia, the pass through manifold or air manifold located in the driver side firewall just behind the foot brake valve. You can try to remove the air line and cut tip off and then reinsert the air line and see if that helps. But the problem is usually in the fitting itself which is NOT serviceable.
    TOOLS needed: torx bit set, ratchet, extension, 1 and 1/16 deep socket and maybe flat screwdriver.
    Takes about 1-2 hours to remove and install depending on your experience.
    Super easy to do yourself.

    The o-rings inside the manifold are replaceable. Spent $0.90 replacing three cracked o-rings. New manifold is around $180 at freightliner so I saved a lot fixing my old one. Look into this before replacing the whole manifold!!

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on how bad the air leaks is, I would recommend to get underneath the truck and try to locate the air leak at or around the transmission. The leak on the manifold maybe a separate air leak.

      If you are talking about the pressure sensor, then yes you can just replace the sensor. Go to Freightliner and take the sample. There are a few different styles and they look the same. So a sample is better

    Will a bad pass through / censor cause you to hear air hissing from your tractor parking brake valve, when it is pushed in? I just replaced the valve assembly in the dash, but still getting the hissing sound. Only when the tractor valve is pushed in.

      Check down at the manifold. There are pressure sensors that tend to leak. Remove the covers at the pedal. Release the brakes, make sure the truck is secure, and use some soapy water and look for bubbles.

    Hey man I’m not even sure if this is relevant but I keep losing a lot of air from my valve brakes. I’m not sure why but they were leaking air when I stopped to fill my tank and now the alarm just keeps sounding but the gauges are at 100. Hopefully you see this in time any suggestions?

      The low air pressure sensor is located on the air manifold. There are 2 sensors,
      As far as the air loss, is this when the truck is sitting? Is it the air valve on the outside firewall on the driver side?

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  ปีที่แล้ว

      The air leak is typically at the manifold, inside it fails but you can try removing the air line and cutting the end around 1/4 inch then reinsert. See if that works if not the manifold will need to be replaced.

  • @jeremylewis4450
    @jeremylewis4450 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did you cut your lines clean first? Or did you just say manifold?

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cut about 1/4 inch off before installing the lines. The lines will have a small crease and can let air leak even after you replace the manifold.

      Air lines were leaking, if you hear the lines leaking you can remove the line and cut the tip, about a 1/4 inch and then reinstall. If it stops then you are good to go. If not the. You have to replace the air manifold assembly

      Check the valves at the rear of the tractor. You have the blue and red air lines.
      Are the brakes locking up? Are they dragging?

    • @RichardLuna2025
      @RichardLuna2025 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The brakes on almost every trailer drag to the point of smoking. The cab brake lights come on, and so do the trailer brake lights when no one is in the truck. Every time you apply the brakes the air gets trapped and the brakes on the trailer just drag. This has been going on for over a year. No one can figure it out.@CarlosDieselElectric
