May 2, 2019---Thanks for the video, but wondered if this wasn't an exercise to get deliberately stuck and then getting pulled out? And wonder how these things work in DEEP mud? Seen a few videos on 6x6's in water/mud sloughs in Florida that got stuck, but they worked themselves out on their own.
The MTVR'S are Marine truck of the FMTV (medium tactical vehicle) family. The HET's are of the Army's FHTV (heavy tactical vehicle) Family. My employer makes both. The heavies are not meant to travel the exact same terrains but can still handle varied conditions.

The HET is purposely built,even with 1600×20 CTIS Tires,to handle this kind of ground and travel if needed to,the M1070 is rated for 231,000 lbs.

I think Stewart & Stevenson stopped making the M1078-M1088 in 2006,and then Oshkosh makes them now like you said such as the M1142 or some thing like that. The one tugging isn't even close to stuck joys of good tires and all wheel drive its is insanely hard to truly get them stuck the truck usually is only held back by the driver the one in the rescuer truck obviously understood that you can spin tire's a little aslong as your moving so your not digging down he should have stayed in it instead of letting the chain slack but also the sudden tug helped the stuck truck get enough bite to get up on top so it ended up working but that tug if to hard is easy to break chain with
@@semajniffirg230 you're right the M1070 total weight is 231,400 pounds and the Abrams is 120,000 pounds exactly. Someone was a 88M. This truck also has a giant winch that could pull 2 stuck tanks out of the mud.

yea it’s probably a training. the army is always training no matter what it is. looking at all the vehicles without a trailer and on the sand i’m guessing they were training on the CTIS. also they don’t get paid by the hour so taking out the chains instead of using the winch is much faster. dragging a 1 inch cable or just tiny chain i’m picking the chain. plenty of trucks capable of freeing each other to worry if another gets stuck.

Don't need a difflock when you got a convoy of trucks and m88s there to pull you out. It's a training exercise in the video. The m1070 has a different system than a traditional diff lock both tires get power but it's not evenly divided.
I thought this kind of truck can pass almost anywhere, much on sand? Soviets must have enough ways now on how to weaken Americans, in transporting their military equipment to the front....

@@HopeIsAlliGot AWD and 8×8 aren't the same bro...This is like discussing AWD and 4×4.When a Truck has Lockers and Hubs,for the most part,it has Options to either Engage or Disengage which Axle,or any Axle depending on how many Wheels the Vehicle has,in Low or High,which balances out Gear Ratio from the Transmission,and especially the Transfer Cases on Heavy Rigs like these.All Wheel Drive on the other hand is Constant,now Options to lock it in or unlock it out,all Wheels are always moving and Connected.

This sand wouldn't stop this truck. This is training. The M1070A1 has CTIS with terrain condition settings.
Both the M1070 and M1070A1 do,I prefer the looks of just the M1070 itself.

True, but there wasn’t a lot of tension on the chain. Since it was all sand they couldn’t get any traction, just needed a little push to get moving.
