Why not a 351 in it instaed of a chevy.
Nick, That "dead" dash button would be the Starter button if original positive ground system was still used. In 1940 you would turn the key to "ON" and press the button. Original button could have had a chrome "START" ring around it that acted as a ground. Despite some issues that '40 is very nice.

Sweet '40! Still has the original banjo rear end and transverse spring. Love the sound. That's one reason I don't want an electric car!

Add a car I owned to the unique cars with 305's under the hood club with my 1963 Corvette roadster had a 305 :) true { back in the 80's } ran good :) Nice ford there !

Now that's a neat car , i'd happily drive it rather than the cookie cutter cars of today and I learned to drive with three on the tree cars so no problem there .

Pretty mint condition 40 Ford Sedan street rod only thing don't it's got bad 305 powerplant a nice 327 Chevy SB or a 329 Ford SB would be good fit for that car

I have a 1940 Ford Tudor slant back that my grandfather was restoring as a gift to me. Sadly, he passed a few months ago. I can’t restore it, so I’m looking to sell it. I have very little knowledge of the value and would greatly appreciate help from anyone who could possibly direct me to someone who would give me an honest quote. I found a dealer online who offered to appraise it for a fee of $200.00, but that would be based on photographs only. I would rather someone actually see the car as to avoid any misunderstandings. In case someone is interested, I will try to give you a description of the car as it is and what I do know about it.
A 1940 Ford Tudor 2door, Slant back. I believe it is an all steel body. Original engine in working condition. The overall body is in very good condition; no rusted out spots. It has been prepped for new paint. New console. Chrome grill, chrome seam down hood and along sides. Chrome hub caps. Original Radio. Original front and back seats. Two Original horns. New replacement windows. Numerous boxes with new parts, but I’m not sure what they are.
I believe the original interior was red and beige and the outer paint was black. Grandpa had planned to paint the old lady red and I would have been so proud to drive her. My grandpa served in the Air Force as an engineer. He was a kind and good man. I know these things won’t matter to anyone else, but my grandpa was all that I had in this world. My own parents abandoned me as a baby, so my grandpa raised me. He was everything to me. I truly hate to part with this car as it was a labor of love, but retiring it to a garage is no place for her. As I said, I know very little of its value, so I’m hoping that I can find an honest person to deal with.
I am open to any and all advice.
