The worms will eventually move over to the feeding zone, personally I use "faster foods" for the worms when doing migrations, and I only cover the feeding zone with bubble wrap to keep more moisture . I am putting a lot of flower heads in my bins this fall too, they have to be loaded with nutrients.
    Castings will be awesome!

Thank you very much for sharing this. Funny I was about to reply with information from my latest feeding! Lol. I really need to get my posts up to date. It makes sense honestly that they're not as interested in the feeding zone because I've not been giving them what they want.
I'm out of flower heads! 😒 I love knowing they're so nutritious. I bet your worms are happy.
Cheers to great castings! Take care. 🙋‍♀️

@@theelpydimension It is not so much the worms do not want that feeding, it is more that it is a very slow feeding. To entice worms faster, softer foods like lettuce, tomato, pumpkin, melon, cucumbers, banana break down a lot faster which equals a faster migration. If you really want to speed things up, blend the food, freeze it then offer to the worms.
Most of the flowers and seed heads I will be pulverising to make the nutrients available quicker.
I am always looking for better ways to produce the best worm castings possible. Think of it this way, people who eat fast and prepared foods are probably not as healthy as people who have a more natural diet. Nothing wrong with using expired processed dry foods in a worm bin, I just choose not to, that stuff goes into a hot compost.
Not any real wrong ways to raise worms as long as they survive, lol.

So true, as long as they survive but no doubt it's good to know how to improve your castings and your process so you can. I would at least like to balance it more, thus my addition of more plant matter.
Thanks a lot for those migration tips. It makes sense. This week I should have my latest feeding up; I just so happened to pick up a cache of old food including a couple heads of lettuce. So yee ha!
      Thanks again! Take care. 🙋‍♀️💜
