    You could make a bracket out of wood to sit the a/c securely on top of the closed tailgate, and a panel to cover the window opening around the unit. The generator is cutting off because the power draw is spiking above its max output. Closing in the cap might cure that, and should also get you more run time on a tank of gas.

    Girrrllll your reaction when the AC fell off the tailgate cracked me up! Awesome video 👍👍 I just have to add it’s pretty impressive how you just hang out and sleep out in the wilderness and not be totally freaked out. A lot of people would be up listening to every little noise. Your very brave.

    Hi, Becca: Great video keep up the great work. I would look at a Dometic RV air conditioner, instead of an air conditioner for a house. A house unit draws far too much of a load for a small generator to handle, a Dometic RV air conditioner is designed for RV's and works much better. You will also want a deep cycle marine battery wired to a converter, including an inverter to regulate the spikes and surges. Doing research on what works and what doesn't will save you a lot of money over the long run,- Best of luck on your project.

    You can put your FUEL GENERATOR at the top of your car and through windows you connect your AC with them. By it there is a little space between your car and window. No mosquitoes come into the car.❤️ from INDIA🇮🇳

    Use the 1 or 2” foam insulation board to fill in the gap in the tailgate. It’s about $25 a sheet. Exhaust hotter that comes out of the back of the air conditioner out the truck and keep cool air in.

    Close your tailgate and glass hatch. Aim the back of the ac out your side window . I would cut out reflectixs to cover the screen and cut out a square so the back of the a/c can sit flush with the screen on your window

    I just stumbled upon your channel and watched this entire video. I gotta say, I like your style! I've been a fan of people camping in trucks and RV's for quite some time. I'd say I've followed Nomadic Fanatic and Living Free the longest (both RV guys) but that soon gave way to Mav and Crazy Quady (both truck campers). Since I don't have access to a truck or RV for camping myself, I instead live vicariously through the people I watch here on TH-cam. That said, I enjoyed your video (Big fan of AC myself) so seeing you get an actual AC to work while truck camping is pretty awesome. I subbed to your channel and I look forward to watching more of your content. Cheers!

    I have a tailgator generator and i love it, that little , it has done everything i have asked it to do. 100 % hands down I have no regrets buying it. and I've had mine for 4 years now. Just shut the fuel off and let it run out after each use. highly recommend you do that. The carburetor will thank you. And I have ran a 500 watt air conditioner numerous times with it. Ya it does pull on the tail gator a bit but honestly, i haven't had any issues, air conditioner and a light bulb no problems.

    Great experiment. . just a idea make bracket that slide over the tailgate. To form a shelf type bracket the ac can sit on. Also could be used as a clothes line. Or spread wide maybe a kayak rack.

    I think they make AC/s that sit in once space and a hose is plumbed to the room that you want the air to blow into.
    Not sure how long of an extension cord youd be able to use but get that generator further away and cover it with a box covered in insulation to quiet it, youd have to let the box vent on the side that faces away from the truck so the generator can breathe.

    Use and extension cord and get that generators exhaust away from where you sleep. I live in south louisiana and lots of deaths by people running generators near where they sleep.
    Buy the appropriate extension cord, usually a thicker yellow wire, to carry that load. The generator is not able to keep up with the ac when it surges.

  • @angelogazzara852
    @angelogazzara852 ปีที่แล้ว

    Look into building a a/c out of a cooler then all you have to run is a small fan off the generator it will be way less draw and should not shut down. Great videos keep them coming.

    Couple of thoughts/suggestions, how about a taller/higher truck cap to let the hot air rise more. 2: maybe put in a 2 way fan/vent into the cap like they have in rv's/vans (maxxair are the best, 135 bucks) 3: maybe make a amazon wishlist for people to get things 4u to make truck life a little easier?? Oh just thought of another thing might be pricy but what about changing out the window between the cab and back to a slider, that way more air if needed or the ac from the cab can go into the back?? Ohhh more lol, how about a solar charging battery pack... that could help with the fans. There are also super speed charger blocks that you could plug into an adapter into tge cigarette lighter spot. I gotta win something for all these suggestions lol

    Could take the back glass off the tailgate and make something of wood instead and cut an opening big enough for the a.c unit. Then if you take the a.c out maybe have a cover of some type for it. Paint it all up nice.

    Nice car camping setup so far. I would leave that noisy generator at home and get a 12 volt car battery or deep cycle battery to run that AC unit which would probably last 2 to 3 hours depending on how hot it is or maybe those bigger portable battery powerbanks if you want longer run time. Also i would change that window ac to one of those Over the Sill Window ac so that you can just hang it over your closed tailgate and still be able to close your upper window all the way.

    What you can do is get a hitch storage rack type setup. Kind of like the wheelchair holders. Go to Harbor Freight and get the Predator quite type generator and mount it to that hitch platform. I know a lot of people will have a cage built over them so nobody can steal their generator. Or just store the generator in the back of the truck and when you need it move it to the platform. Then install a small A/C in the far back side window nearest the tailgate. People do this all the time. And if the A/C cords is a little short on reaching down to the generator on the platform just by a heavy duty 6 foot cord and add onto it. And why I say heavy duty "thicker cord" is that A/C pull a lot of current. So do not put a regular extension cord like you use on a electric weedeater or other tool.
