I well remember this match, I was living in Putney & sitting on the bed watching the match. Previously I had a young apprentice Johnny Rosewall (I think? 🤔 time takes its toll) who was a big Gooner, lovely lad. So I was supporting the Arsenal for Johnny lad, as a Scot & Rangers fan I liked Arsenal but wouldn't call myself a follower as such. Well how delighted I was for all the Gooners & Johnny boy, a football fans dream, great finishes from Alan Smith & Mickey Thomas who was under such pressure. Watching the Arsenal fans celebrate was moving even for me, marvellous night for the famous Arsenal. 💙❤️
I watched the game in Scotland surrounded by Rangers/Celtic fans. I'm not a gooner but that goes down in history as one of the greatest results and finishes to a game ever. Everyone ( maybe with the exception of Spurs fans) wanted an Arsenal win that night pal 👍
From a Liverpool fan...we can have no complaints. Arsenal and George Graham played the game as a tactical masterclass against a Liverpool team who set out to protect a lead. When Arsenal went 1-0 up it put the cat amongst the pigeons and Liverpool didn't know whether to stick or twist. It still gives me nightmares to this day but Arsenal still deserved to win. I still believe that if Liverpool had gone into that game needing to win then I believe we would have. It was such a sporting night as the majority of Liverpool fans stayed behind to applaud the Arsenal team as they lifted the league title. Exactly 30 years later, I was in my local gym on the Wirral and Michael Thomas trains in there. I couldn't believe that Arsenal hadn't had a 30th Anniversary party for the players who were there that night
No they didnt invent it. Rem ALL TEAMS DO IT. WELL ITS FERGIE AND HIS BULLYING TACTICS HAD ME THINKING THAT WHAT YOU JUST SAID ABOUT THE LIVERPOOL REGARDLESS WHO YOUR A FAN OF.
In 1977 Everton played Liverpool in the fa cup Semi-Final. It was 2-2 in the last minute Everton scored. The same thing happened but sadly they got the decision on the day. Some say handball some offside. It was neither. If Smith hadn't made contact the cross would have gone out for a throw in. Horrible club. Horrible team. Horrible support. As an Evertonian that's one Friday night I'll never forget. Thanks.
Im fan of Liverpool and Arsenal went out and out fought out played Liverpool and although i hate using this saying they did want it more and got what they deserved and PEOPLE NEED TO BE BIG ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT AND SAY WELL DONE ARSENAL.
I sat and head a few beers with Steve in Harry's Bar Orchard Road Singapore! He and fellow sports pundit Paul Masefield didn't have a bad word about Arsenal--they both knew I was a Gooner! None story!
I'm not an Arsenal fan but 'll never forget this night. Sat with around 10 of us and a room full of beer, fans of Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, United, Chelsea and a few others all celebrated as if their own team had won the League. It wasn't that Arsenal were popular, they weren't, but Liverpool after years of boring the pants off everyone were so detested. No neutral , maybe with the exception of Spurs fans wanted a Liverpool win. I'll never forget the street parties that followed that night.
