    Love me some Simon
Phillips... always been a big fan.
    Here it comes 😅...
I think Weckl’s version is better for sure. I think DW musicianship is unmatched and his take is more fluid and musical whereas SP has more of a rock drummers approach and is a little more choppy especially soloing over the section toward the end....

i´ve heard this song played by dave weckl just one day before this video was published ....
much better with weckl = more feeling and energy (even i´m a huge, but huge fan of phillips, somehow, in these days, i know how it will sound (in advance)

I'm more accustomed to the the SP version while I love Weckl I really have to disagree, more energy? Did we watch the same video here? I thought both of them were energetic. What I like about SP is that I find him to be a lot more musical with his approach to this, I don't really think SP's framework for this song can be topped. Weckl was a lot more showy I think - which isn't at all a bad thing. I like them both for different reasons I think.

@@IsaacA192 I´d like to make here a general comment: It´s often said that Simon Phillips is very musical in his playing and that´s by the way, why I love his playing so much. But what does musical mean? To me: Serve the music AND don´t make the drumming unnecessarily complex. Weckl, Smith and other exceptional players are often hard to follow. Their playing is thrilling, but not necessarily only out of musicality, but rather because of complexity and incomprehensibility. Simon Phillips can and does also play complex stuff, but his beats, patterns and his grove seem clearer and musically easier to understand. I hope you get my point, since it´s difficult to express my (of course subjective) opinion ;-)

It’s not really fair to compare the two versions as they are quite different, in terms of groove, pacing and overall feel of the track. Also, Simon is playing to along the studio version in this clip, most likely with a slick track in his headphones, much less leeway to mess about in the song.

NOt so bad, but absolutely sound poorer than live. I was at Verona (protocol4) and a clinic in Merula (Italy). Nothing compares to a live with Simon.
