Providing a stable job doing what the person loves which was watching television and pulling clips is more then enough. JD had Howard's respect, and even though that doesn't come with a huge paycheck JD is living an extremely good life.

Anyone who thinks because someone who is rich and powerful likes you means they will make you rich and powerful is naive.
