- This was the commencement address in 1998 at Rice when I got my PhD - talk about winning the commencement speaker lottery! :) I got this from John Campbell's channel on Vimeo, and I copied it here just so more people might stumble onto it.
He was such a brilliant man who had such revealing insights into the human condition.
Imagine seeing you here JJ.
Great writer. Decent good human being. Tremendous wit.
This was my commencement. Love Vonnegut!
Wow!
Hey! What a great memory for you. Wonder how it has resonated in your life since (rhetorical). Thanks for sharing your connection to this commencement! 👍🇨🇦
Kurt's speech is even more true today
Thank you for posting this!
Very beautiful. This is a gift to us. Thanks for posting this! There is a really cool interview on C-SPAN on Vonnegut, and Heller: Battle of the Bulge and V-E Day. Interviewed by Stephen Ambrose. Stay safe peoples, and wear a mask (unless your drinking and bowling).
If anyone asks what is meant by humanism...

"I figured out how to keep humanity from hurling itself off the cliff. To start, we're all going to post our favorite Rant(s) on 11-11 at 11:11.
