  • Took out this neat bike. Relaxed geometry but sharp enough to hit the trails with.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with your comments about the noise with Bosch motors. I have a 2016 Scott E-Spark 710. The motor was replaced after 2300 miles because of the usual problem with early Bosch motors, crank bearings going. The 1st motor was silent, and after 300miles on the new one. This motor is also silent

The lock is for both front and rear at the same time. They have a middle mode that reduces the range of suspensions.

I bought this bike at end of 2019, only just around to watching this review. I find it quite accurate. Your opinion seemed to improve as you rode it. I had a Scott Genius (stolen) and loved the lockout climb/travel/descend , but on the E bike I don't use it so much. Everything else is great

On the Scott I had back brake on left I changed the dropper to the left changed the lockout control to the right (yes it worked arse about face but got used to it very quickly) so for me having the lockout by the front brake which I tended not to use first gave me choices where I wanted the bike to be ie open fully ,restricted(trail) or locked out and yes I like gadgets !!. However on the longer rides the ability to lockout the suspension definitely gave an edge to battery usage or range if you wish. I also liked the feeling of the bike when the trail got a bit steeper going down the immediate plushness of the bike when you flicked the switch. Very comfy bike. Regards Chris

Nice review 👍🏼 since 2 weeks i‘m a very proud owner of that fantastic bike. But one thing, if you have 29 inch wheels its the Strike 920.The Strike 720 has the 27,5 inch wheels.

Do you still have your 2019 Strike? How happy are you with the motor?
I'm thinking about getting a 2019 Cube or Scott though am not sure if the newer Bosch CX with 85Nm is actually a lot better.
Did you have any issues with it? Is the gear ratio fine? Because this front 15T or 16T crank looks really small.

@@fishermans1friend yes. Still very satisfied with the Bike. I would definitely buy it again. No issues with the CX so far. And so comfortable to ride long distances.

Agree the frame seems to have a big impact on motor noise, remote lock outs date back to a time when forks were less refined and shouldn’t be needed on modern geometry bike with a reasonable quality fork. Aside from the added benefit of keeping the cockpit less cluttered.

..nice looking bike, except for the snake orgy up front, yeah, those cables are too much...thanks Rob,nice vid!..

A great looking stealthy bike indeed, however, a real birds nest up front that needs to be taken down to a minimum with some of that automotive shrink tube to do some consolidation with this 'out of control' wiring. I agree with your nitpicking comments. Cheers!

hey Rob, thanks once more for discovering a new ebike. What about the "e something meter"' (sorry i don't remember the name) ? Where is it on your scale ?

nice review Rob,,,,,Dare i say for the more conservative rider,,,Cable Fest up front,,,lockouts for the lazy rider ,,,,Bosch motors are making a come back, maybe the best climbing of the big three, like to here your opinion on motor characteristics , climbing power ect ect

The loop in the dropper cable does look stupid, but that's probably cause it hasn't been put together properly. If that was my shop I would never let it leave the store like that. Takes 2 seconds to shorten that cable and stop it looping out like that.

I like the idea of the lockout for increased efficiency in commuting then full suspension for increased smiles on the trails. Maybe lockout is just unnecessary on an e-bike. Thoughts?Cheers from Utah.

But how did it score on the E-Vomit-er?

140mm front and back is now xc... how times have changed... to me it's an all round tour/all mountain type of bike, judging from the numbers
Alpscross should be very doable on this, if you're not hitting the demanding descents...
And yeah, lockout on an ebike?! Totally misplaced, but it's a Scott unique kind of selling point, and Scott fans might want it

The lockout appeals me to be able to go back and forth between trails and commuting but can’t afford a dedicated e-commuter. Increased efficiency with no need for suspension while commuting, then having full suspension in the mountains sounds pretty good to me. Maybe I’m not diehard enough or just don’t have the cash flow for multiple bikes (e or otherwise). This seems like a good all rounder. I am still shopping e-bikes so any feedback is welcome. Thanks for the great review, Rob!

Whilst there is always extra cables with the twin loc system. That test bike had a horrific installation... that dropper post cable, wth!!!
Twinloc is great if the terrain you ride is constantly changing, can tune on the go.

Towards the end of this video the motor was sounding louder than my 2018 Levo and you're right, that cockpit is appalling.

It’s a nice trail bike but I would prefer it with E7000/8000 rather than the ancient and heavy Bosch, that would save 1,2 kg on the bike.
I agree, lockout on an ebike is completely unnecessary and that ‘spaghetti incident’ looks an absolutely horrendous mess.

Hey Rob, I'm looking at buying a Scott Strike bike, but I'm quite puzzled wether to look for one with Bosch motor or shimano E8000, also I'd like the ability to DeRestrict the system, is there a specific bike you could recommend? :D Cheers
I already had two scott scale 970 stolen only a year or less apart, but the third & current bike I'm riding, seemed to be a little heavier than the black/red model i had a year earlier, it also came with a smaller suspension which only had 2 options instead of 3 on the front part, besides that I've been pleased with it, but I'm got a planned adventure throughout Europe starting from Malaga, peddling through Andorra into France & all the way back to Denmark, all I'm looking for is the correct beauty, the lightest yet most powerful bang for my money with full suspension :D

The cables on this bike are simply fixed wrong way.
The lockaut helps to avoid pedal strikes on stony roads or when heavy pedaling uphil on standing position to avoid fork deflections to save energy.
