    Once saved always saved
Salvation is a one time act of God rescuing a believer into eternal life once for all.
If anyone drinks this living water he shall never thirst again ….notice here the word “never thirst again” clearly salvation is a one time act and then God responsibility is to keep his believers saved until the day of redemption
There is nothing called progressive salvation

Something that also throws a rench in the idea that if you really believe you will change for me is, what about the thief on the cross, or a death bed conversion? If belief implies a more Godly life, then what about people who only have time to put there faith in christ for salvation before they die? Obviously there is the thing about them not having time to live out there Christian life sure but how can our lives being different be an indication of salvation or not? How good of an indication is it that we believe something or not? How is walking out our faith or not doing so for whatever reason/excuse mean that we do or do not believe? Can I not believe I am a human and live like a dog? Can I not believe I am a grown-up yet live like a child?

I totally agree about what he says that a person who places faith in Christ may not exhibit good works right away because their journey may have started out. Hence wise it can be difficult to judge rather that individual placed faith in Christ in the first place. So what do we do? This is where the gift of discernment and testing the spirits come in to play to help realize if that individual truly placed faith in Christ.

Faith without works, faith evinced by works, faith contingent on works-take your pick and God bless.

Believing is a confusing thing for me. How can our obedience or disobedience mean that we believe God or not? I understand like the concept that if we believe a chair will hold us, we will sit in it with confidence. That does make sense, but could we still believe a chair will support us and yet be scared to sit in it? Not for reasons of the chair not being stable but because of things that I or someone else might do while in the chair? If I lean to far back, or someone tips the chair back that doesn't make the chair any less stable, but almost falling out of the chair makes me afraid to sit in it. It doesn't make me scared that the chair won't support me but scared of outside forces that could tip the chair again. I have full confidence that the chair won't fall apart if I sit in it, but the things that tipped the chair still make me sit in it less confidently. My confidence in the chair hasn't changed but the assurance that I can relax and rest in the chair has gone down.

I agree that if we don't have works that is a problem, but how can not having works be a salvation problem if we are not saved by works? That's the thing that sounds off to me and makes me go... "Wait a minute. That don't sound right." I see in a lot of places where the Bible says we SHOULD do these things. Like we should walk after the spirit and not after the flesh, but where does the Bible say that if we walk after the flesh we might not be saved?

Not necessarily, not all Christians will have works. Work’s should come as a result of love for the Lord. It’s not automatic. We should grow. Sadly not everyone will. If we look to our works for assurance or proof of salvation then we will not have assurance. The only proof we need is that we believe the Gospel. Nothing more, nothing less.

I've mentioned in other posts, when it comes to the truth of God's word, we only have one shot at Salvation in this life time. So, whatever you believe when it comes to your eternal fate, you better make sure you're right, because we get one life at this.

  • @danmarley2886
    @danmarley2886 2 ปีที่แล้ว

When one understands the true nature of salvation, it becomes clear that it is not a monolithic grace, but has manifold aspects.
Our justification is at the very heart of salvation, but not the only thing that accomplishes salvation completely.
For instance, our glorification is also salvation, along with our resurrection, but these have yet to be attained. There is also justification at the eternal judgment, and we seek to be justified when we face that judgement. Wherefore, 1John3 states, Be not deceived, he that doeth righteousness is righteous.
To do righteousness is to do the works that God has prepared beforehand Eph2. And our judgment is based upon the things done in the body, whether they be good or bad.
The book of James makes it very plain that if we show no mercy, we will receive no mercy. And faith without works is dead being alone, and by works, faith is made perfect or complete. But faith must be tried, and God determines whether we will obey him or not. So James said, Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The book of Acts and the book of Romans make this statement. And if we believe that, we receive forgiveness of sin, and we are justified from sins that are past, and the righteousness of God is imputed to us. That is salvation. But there is more that we must apprehend.
Some men's sins are open, going before to judgement, and some men they follow after.
God has prepared the works, to not do the works is to disobey God, and not fulfill his righteousness. So it is written, He has given to the poor, he has dispersed abroad, his righteousness remains. Also, God is not unrighteous to forget your work of faith and labor of love that you have shown toward the saints in his name. Love and holiness and righteousness and the knowledge of God, go hand in hand, and none of these can be manifested without works. Peace always.

The bible has publication breaks for example 1 John 2, 1 John 3 ect. The Holy Spirit did not put them there man did.
      1John 2
[27] But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
TODAY WE NEED TEACHER THAT KNOW THE BIBLE ACCORDING TO KNOWLEDGE. GOD DOES NOT JUST PUT THINGS IN YOU MEMORY BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAYS STUDY. I think it safe to say that 1 John is NOT written to the church under grace as Paul teaches us. This is for the Jews before the Kingdom comes with Christ to reign over it. It says that in [28] I ask myself questions about things in scripture for example, it says "before him at his coming" ; what happens before that? The church is raptured and those left who are Jews and survive the tribulation are going to realize that they could have been spared that by trusting in what Christ did for all. But now that they believe ...
This book is eternal and it will be here at the end of the world for those ppl at that time.
[28] And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
[29] If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
      1John.3
[1] Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
[2] Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, WHEN he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
[3] And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
[4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
[5] And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
[6] Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
[7] Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
Isa.64 (written to the fathers of Israel. Read this and go up one line. See the difference don't you
[6] But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
How can a person be told to be righteous even as Christ unless it is a supernatural gift. It will. Ezk. 36:27

Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us this: For it is by grace that ye are saved, through faith but this not of yourselves it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man should boast. Then Ephesians 2:10 says this: For we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Works can never save us but God's good works are what we were saved for! Works prepared by God, done in worship of God, to His glory! John 15:1-8.
These works can only be done by someone saved by grace through faith gifted them by God Himself. " Created in Christ " Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that God is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6.

I believe what your trying to say is Faith is what saves us, but you have to follow up on that faith. Lets look at Abraham there In James 2:21-26 now God came to Abraham in his home town, Abraham lived in a nice house with running water, Now God told him if he would go where he told him he would give him a son. Abraham had faith in what God told him. now Abraham had obeyed God many times on his journey, and had passed test and failed test now God did not Reckoned it to him as Righteousness until he was way in to his travels with God. if Abraham would have said I believe you Lord but never left he would have not go his son, and would not have been considered Righteous. look at John 14 and 15 you see here Jesus telling us that if we obey him then he will dwell with us, and if we don't 15:6 tells us we will be thrown in to the fire. so it's not jus having faith in Jesus and what he tells us but that faith must be followed with obedience. Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
    (Jas 2:17)
Then he believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.
    (Gen 15:6)
"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. "After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. "In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him." Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, "Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me.
    (Joh 14:15-24)
oh 15:6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

You don't need evidence for salvation.
You need evidence for your FAITH.
Even the thief on the cross had evidence for his faith: his body was crucified and while the other one reviled on Jesus he rebuked him and claimed that he deserves the punishment.
      His body was already crucified.
      Also he called Jesus Lord
Also he begged for mercy and proclaiming that his punishment is just and justified.
As crucified as he was he did more on the cross than many people in their lifetime who will go to hell in hardness of their heart cursing and rebeling against God.
The fact that he didn't have time to produce fruit as a result of his salvation that is a total different matter.
But he had plenty of proof that he had FAITH and was totally surrendered to the mercy of Lord Jesus.
Yes he was concerned about his soul and eternity rather than saving his body of flesh like the other thief.
All glory to Lord God Almighty and Jesus Christ my savior, blessed be his NAME forever and ever.

However, what you are saying is very confusing. The thief believed and was saved. Had nothing to do with his circumstances. Had nothing to do with his crucifixion or anything. Evidence for you faith? Evidence for who? Because God searches the mind and heart and sees what man cannot. I don’t believe you need evidence for your faith other than the fact that you have it to begin with. Unless you can provide scripture in proper context to help me understand.

There's a difference between people who identify as "Christian," who intellectually believe in Christ and true believers. After all, satan believes in Christ. You're a new creature in Christ if you've been born again, there should be some changes and evidence in your life.

God will not save anyone who is trying to be saved, He will only save those who are trusting to be saved. Receive Christ's sacrifice on the cross as full-payment for your sins, believing that He miraculously raised up from the dead 72 hours later for your justification!!! Simply believe and the work is done! John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” God had to make getting saved simple, otherwise simple people couldn't understand it. Bless God, He made salvation so easy and simple that even a young child can believe the Gospel and be saved. 1st Thessalonians 4:14, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”.

Many times, unbelievers think that faith alone means just saying "I believe", the same, insincere way that they would be doing it, if they said "I believe", with no change of heart (no repentance)! Their very criticism of faith in Jesus reveals that this is what they're thinking. All Hitler would have to have said (insincerely!) is "I believe", no repentant heart required, and he'd be in. But God requires real faith in a repentant heart. We are drawn to Jesus by the convicting Holy Spirit, and this is also how we get the faith to sincerely believe.

The letter of James is (not) written to the Church but it's written to the 12 tribes of Israel, as in Jas 1:1
A lot of churches teach that in Jas 2:24 (man is justified by man), which is not true. Man is justified by God in this verse. We need to read it in it's context. Look at what Jesus says in Luk 16:15
*Paul says that man is justified by faith only, without works= Rom 4:1-6/Tit 3:5-7/Eph 2:8,9/Act 13:39
*James says that man is justified by works and faith=Jas 2:24
*in Jas 2:21-23 James is quoting from Gen 22:1-18
*in Rom 4:3 Paul is quoting from Gen 15:4-6
Both speakers are addressing two different groups of people. Paul is addressing the church and James is addressing the 12 tribes of Israel as in Jas 1:1.
Therefore there is no contradiction to what they both say. But if we say that they are both addressing the church, there is a contradiction. And we are not (rightly dividing the word of God). As in 2Tim 2:15 King James bible.
*James says, ask if you lack wisdom Jas 1:5
    But
Paul says, Christ Jesus became for us wisdom 1Cor 1:30, we don't have to ask for wisdom, we have wisdom in the new man.
*James asks a question in Jas 2:14 , James says = (if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?), No it can not. Future Israel believers need works and faith to be saved. A lot of churches read pass this question and do not answer it.
In James 4:4, James is addressing the 12 tribes of Israel. James calls Israel Adulterers.

The "12 tribes of Israel" that James addressed his words to are NOT the literal 12 tribes that came from Jacob (who were rejected as God's people, see Matt 21:42, 43; 23:29-39; Rom 10:1-3), but rather the ones whom Jesus spoke of at Matthew 19:28, when Peter wondered who could be saved after Jesus said that it is "easier for a camel to get through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God": "Truly I say to you, in the re-creation (during Jesus Millennial reign when the resurrection occurs for all who will be given an opportunity to live on the earth as "meek" ones, Ps 37:11, 29; Rev 20:4-6), when the Son of man sits down on his glorious throne (for a thousand years), you who have followed me will sit on (symbolic) 12 thrones (or the 144,000 "kings and priests" who are "joint-heirs" with Jesus sitting on "thrones", Rev 1:6; Rom 8:17; 2 Tim 2:12), judging the 12 tribes of Israel (or those who pass through "the great tribulation" [Rev 7:9-17], as well as those who are resurrected and given the opportunity to prove their love for God, whose name is Jehovah [see Isa 12:2, KJV], who will be tested and those who pass this test, will enjoy life on a paradise earth as "meek" ones forever, Matt 5:5)."
So, the symbolic "12 tribes of Israel" are those who make up God's heavenly Kingdom, for the nation of fleshly Israel was rejected, for their hate and murderous "fruits" or conduct, so that a new nation of spiritual Israel, composed of both Jews and Gentiles (see Rom 11:11, 12), came into existence when Jehovah poured out the holy spirit on Jesus as God's Kingdom "chief cornerstone" (Matt 3:16, 17; 21:42; Eph 2:20) and then later on the "about 120" in Jerusalem on Pentecost 33 C.E.(Acts 2:4), that established the Christian congregation of "holy ones".(Eph 1:1-7)
So, James wrote his words to those who would make up God's Kingdom (and by extension all true Christians), in which he stresses that "faith without works is dead" at James 2:26, giving examples of Abraham and Rahab, and the apostle Paul shows that "works of the Mosaic law" is worthless (Rom 2:17-20), NOT "works of faith".
At Romans 3:19, 20, Paul says: "Now we know that all the things the (Mosaic) Law says, it addresses to those under the (Mosaic) Law (which was for the Jews only, not Gentiles, see Ex 31:12-17), so that every mouth may be silenced and all the world may become accountable to God for punishment. Therefore, no one will be declared righteous before him by works of (the Mosaic) law, for by (the Mosaic) law comes the accurate knowledge of sin."(see Gal 3:19)
At Matthew 16:27, Jesus said: "For the Son of man is to come in the glory of his Father with his angels (at the "great tribulation", Matt 24:21), and then he will repay each one according to his behavior (or works, Greek praxis literally meaning "practice, an act, function")."

Proof for who? Man or God? God knows our hearts, but man requires a sign of what’s in our heart.
God knows who truly believes, man doesn’t, which is why man needs “proof”.
At the end of the day, true believers will produce good fruit and good works. But it’s not to keep the faith alive, but because faith is already alive in them.
      It’s like this…
I don’t pray to be close to God, I pray because I am close to God.
I don’t pray to be saved, I pray because I am already saved.
Our works and the things we do aren’t to prove our faith, we do those things because we have faith!
James is motivating believers to do what their new hearts desire… to live from their new spirit filled hearts because living in the spirit will be a blessing to everyone around them and will be a sign to the non-believer of the goodness and love of God!
However, institutional legalism has taken the book of James and turned it into a law, thus making faith something that you have to prove every second otherwise man might claim you don’t have enough or even worst, you aren’t even saved.

The most misinterpreted passage in bible is about What is the will of the father ?
Does Jesus teach us to do works for salvation by quoting this ?
      Let’s examine that :
      Mathew 21:31
“Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.
Here what is the will of father ?
Or what does the father wants us to do the only one work ?
John 6:28 -29 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.".............did you notice people ask Jesus in Plural form ( works) but Christ answers them in singular form ( Work) .............that means only one work the God demands from us to believe in Christ for Salvation alone Or in other words trusting him that after believing in him one will never go to hell.......

*Mat 25:35-40,46 (the sheep) need to do or have works to have eternal life
*Mat 25:41-46 (the goats) did not do or have not works so they go away into everlasting punishment
*Mat 25:40,45 (the least of these My brethren) and (the least of these) is Israel only, cross reference with Jhn 20:17/HEB 2:16,17 = this verse must be read in King James bible. Most bibles are wrong in this verse.

@@fernandodeleon4115 Are not Christians gentiles? I would disagree with your post, as this is referring to the last judgment when all nations are gathered. Nations are made up of all types of people, Christians included. The goats are the people (Christians included) that have failed to do corporal acts of mercy and therefore condemned.
In the discourse with the rich young ruler, Jesus reply to him is to keep the commandments. He did not simply say to have faith (the young man knew Jesus was the Messiah).
In other passages within the gospels, Jesus tells us there are at least 4 things required in order to have eternal life.
These things refute the idea that we are saved by faith alone (not to mention James 2:24).

If we are saved by faith alone then why repent because repentance is something we must do to be saved.
Saving faith is our faith in action through obedience to the gospels' plan that all the apostles taught, including Paul. Faith in action is how we recieve( take hold of (Gr.)
    the free gift of salvation.
The protestant reformers are the ones responsible for teaching that if we do anything in order to be saved it is " works".
The author Tozier best explained the error of this approach to salvation," In our zeal to escape the saved by works of the catholics we have committed the opposite error of faith without obedience"
Dietrich Bonhoeffer the Christian martyr best expressed Gods' view of saving faith, " Only he that believes obeys and only he that obeys believes".

He literally said "acknowledge your fallen state, and believe in Jesus". So, yes, Repentance is part of faith. you HAVE to repent.

@Danniel Redmen Salvation is a free gift offered to everyone, but we must recieve that free gift. The word " recieve", in the N.T. original Greek means, "to take hold of".
We do that by putting our faith in action by obeying Acts 2:38.
If there is nothing we must do to recieve that free gift why repent because that is an act of obedience. As Peter said in Acts ch 5 " God gives the Holy Spirit to those who obey him" ( Acts 5:32).
