This was actually my fave song when I was at this concert in 1994. The sound quality and the way it filled that hall was breathtaking. I don’t think I’ve ever heard or seen a better live performance from any band before or since. What added to the enjoyment of this concert was the fact there wasn’t 100’s of mobile bloody phones stuck in the air trying to record it. Cuz their wasn’t any. The good ole days.

Best concert I ever saw. I was on the left side about 6 rows up.

I wanted to go to this concert so badly but I was very pregnant and unable to travel. It was a joy to watch the following year on TV, on the sofa with my baby daughter. I cried my eyes out, phenomenal concert. I can only imagine how magical it was in be there in person.
This song still makes me very emotional

Now you’re one of music history’s very own „I was there, kids“ people. I’m only 38, the mother of my son was born a day after the second of these two recorded shows. She was introduced to all this by me.
And brain damage/eclipse from this show is my favourite song (and version of it) of all time for many reasons, I’m also autistic, so it speaks to me. The calm sad anxious view on society, you know? I feel that, and then it lights up but keeps the little chance for more bad things to come. Best song(s) ever for me. No other song ever calms me, cheers me up and directly tells me literally that I’m okay this way, everything is in tune. But keep an eye open.
Lol, I even have a carefully crafted, sometimes adjusted playlist of my fifty favourite pieces of music and it is always actually the top spot. 😂
Much love from Hamburg in Germany ❤

This album, The Division Bell", silenced a lot of the critics who said this Pink Floyd could never write, and produce, an album as good a what the band did before. I love this album. And, this song is just so good. David, Richard, and Nick are so in tune with each other. When I watch the whole DVD of this concert it brings a smile and a tear to my eye to see how David & Richard would look at each other so often enjoying the moment. I really enjoy watching your enthusiasm about The Floyd. Reminds me, of me, from back in my young days when Dark Side came out.

I agree completely with your comment. These 3 amazingly talented musicians performed together as if it was their destiny, which I know sounds corny, but is true. Would they have been this way with any other formation? They also stayed close, not falling out with each other, and their friendships within the 3, is evident in them being so in tune with each other. I love the happy glances at each other too, it shows the sheer joy and happiness in the music, and it is so sad that Rick is no longer here to continue this for us (I’m being very selfish here). I cannot imagine my life without their music, also beginning with DSOTM as a young teenager. A musical blessing to my life.

This song has a special place for myself and one friend in particular. His family had a cabin we used to parry at in the years following The Divisuon Bell. We would always be the last two up and we would crank this song to closeout the party almost every time we were there. We only see each other every few years now, but when we do, we see each other and the first thing we say was "the grass was greener".

Possibly one of “Pink Floyd’s” greatest songs & collaboration ever. It’s magical both musically & lyrically & also shows the root of Pink Floyd along with its history. Just an amazing feat by the band at the time 🙏…the “Ragged band that followed in their footsteps” refers to the Albums “The final cut” & “A momentary Lapse of reason” & there’s Also a lot more in there 😏

I downloaded High Hopes studio version a long time ago and I've listened to it loads of times but somehow hearing and seeing it live with the video in the background and all the ambience etc, gosh, that was very emotional. I wasn't really expecting to feel like this so it's a bit mindblowing. It's such a beautiful song and so good to hear it live. Many thanks for your reaction, guys. Another favourite great piece of music from Pink Floyd is Marooned, which is a lovely instrumental also from the album Division Bell. Other favourite songs I've downloaded from this album are Coming Back to Life (you've reacted to the live Pulse version), Lost for Words and Take it Back. Another fabulous instrumental is Terminal Frost from A Momentary Lapse of Reason album, it's so beautiful too. All the best, guys, take care.

Guys, check out this song performed in Gdansk, Poland, on David Gilmour's official YT channel. IMO it's even better than the Pulse 1994 version because they use an orchestra and Gilmour extends it by playing a beautiful acoustic outro to end it.

Btw, Gilmour didn't say that it was their first time playing it. He said "alright, we'll get straight on with it". This was one of the last concerts of the Division Bell tour, so they already played it more than 100 times.

Gilmour definitely said that, never said anything much, just wanted to play the music, but he did say that & I’m sure it’s on the dvd 😏

Merci les frères pour cet incroyable moment d'émotion.
Essayez en réaction " on the turning away " live at délicate sound of thunder " c'est juste incroyable et le solo final est à pleurer.
    Encore merci pour vos réactions

Just think, some idiot record producer told them, in the early days, "Pink Floyd will sell a record when pigs fly!" LOL. Who's been laughing ever since? PF and the millions that love them!

I think the best version of High Hopes was performed in the Live on Pompei concert by David Gilmour in 2006. You should check it out, guys. the ending is mesmerising.
