ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for “Alien Life Form.” Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (who also performed as ALF), the half-hour sitcom rose to popularity in the late 1980s, cementing itself in the pop culture zeitgeist.

I know Max Wright felt like he was playing second fiddle to a puppet, but he actually did a great job in this, and he made the character, Willie, very likable.
Agreed. He was a talented actor who also worked onstage in New York; even though he didn’t want this series to be his claim to fame, his onscreen camaraderie with ALF should be remembered as one of tv’s better comedy teams.
@@mojo500100 Unfortunately, this is a very common thread with a lot of very talented actors.
I worked in a theatre company for many years, and our Artistic Director was Julliard Alumni, who was trained in classical theatre, and even shared a stage doing Shakespeare with some big name actors.
His background is impressive, he is a great actor, and a really good AD who mentors children and teens who want to learn classical theatre.
He has been in some major motion pictures, but never in a starring or even a supporting role. More like a filler character. And unfortunately, got type cast by some of his roles, which made him feel burned for all the work and training he spent the better part of his adult life obtaining.
So in a way, I can kind of understand where Max Wright was coming from.
Why say that max wright actually did a good job? Doesn't the word actually, imply you didn't believe he was capable? The word actually, seems to ruin compliments. Imo
@@matthewdubay1180 Not really. It's more in reference to his own feelings of being upstaged by a puppet, and when in reality he wasn't.
On the one hand, I can see how he might feel that way since the show's main character was a puppet.
However, for him to feel he was being upstaged by the puppet, he obviously didn't think his presence on the show was as strong as it was = Alf is not the same without Willie.
Max revealed more of his own acting talent in that show than he obviously thought he did. I am sure it could not have been easy job.
ALF has his moments, but it's the human reactions - espexislly Willie's - that give this show character. "PROJECT ALF" proves that the Tanners were more important

I don't care what anyone else says, this is one of my all-time favourite episodes of ALF. I love how it ends, where Pete helps the Tanners hide the fact that ALF is there, by pretending he is the alien and turning himself in. This was a wonderful episode all around!

I wont ever forget ThanksGiving 1989 because somethimg Special happened that year My class was having a ThanksGiving Dinner on the last Day before Thanksgiving, Different Guests Showed up I was feeling Sad and I heard a voice say Im here to be with Kelly, I looked it was my 6th Grade Band Director ( I bonded with him that year), He used his day Off from work just to help cheer me up, Thats the reason I will always have that memory , He told everybody I know im not his Dad but I am his friend thats the reason I came. Igrew up in FosterCare but im glad I had somebody nice to show up like that

Mostly, I don’t even understand what they’re singing, but it sounds extremely funny. Thank you for sharing all these episodes and clips. I’ve got the whole series in German, but I like to watch the original versions. Looking forward to the Christmas special.
