Ahhh, welcome to BookTube!! It's so so exciting to see more Black people on here and you sound like such an awesome person with warm energy! I've subbed, and as someone who's been doing this for a while, it's great to see you here!

Omg HEY! 👋🏾 I’ve only just seen this so apologies! HUUUUUGE welcome to BookTube! What a fabulous video and I know your channel is going to be a hit. It’s so amazing to see more black/POC booktubers! Also, your taste in literature is so interesting. I’m really excited to see more from you. Oh and of course I’ve subbed right away. ☺️🫶🏾 P.S make sure you share your Goodreads or Storygraph so we can all go and follow you. ☺️
Hey, Nickelle! Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Watching your channel has been such an inspiration! Thanks for the tips on linking to goodreads!
Definitely agree with you on reading physical books. After staring at a computer screen all day, ink on paper is a relief for both the eyes and the mind. Welcome! 😺✌️
As someone who recently graduated with an Information Systems degree, I can definitely relate to feeling like reading as a hobby is not always well regarded in tech spaces. I’m excited to see someone with a similar background join this community. Welcome to booktube! 🎉
that's fascinating to me. why isn't reading more popular in tech spaces you think? not an appreciation for the humanities in general? i've seen some people argue that...
Welcome to booktube! I’ve been watching videos within this niche for over 10 years now and I can count on one hand how many Black men I’ve seen. Your perspective and voice is very much needed. Can’t wait to see what you read!
You would not believe how many educated people are really stuck in their bubble. I've met so many doctors and engineers and they're very smart but only when it comes to their field - they can only talk about their work and that's it. It makes people very capable but so boring, like what do you talk to them about that's not their work? So, seeing someone like you is a breath of fresh air! Welcome to booktube! Hopefully, I'll join the ranks soon :D
as a literature student who feels a bit lonely with her love for reading sometimes because her friends are mostly STEM people, this video made me smile. also, I really enjoy the sound quality in this vid and your voice in general! i'm excited to see where your bookish adventures will lead you.
So grateful for all the new booktube channels, and for the algorithm showing them to me !! On earth we're briefly gorgeous is an incredible book, I'm looking forward your review 🌞 As for recommendation, if you haven't read it yet, Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson is truly brilliant and I'll never shut up about it!
Welcome! Great to hear your answers. Making videos about books is definitely a great way to better remember and think about what you’ve read in more depth. I’d have forgot most of what I’ve read if I didn’t record it. 😅 I’ve been getting back into Greek myths after watching an excellent recent series on Amazon prime that describes these stories. Looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts about what you’re reading.
Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmer! This is one of my favorite books of all time! The reflection of Kimmer's life, loving our mother earth, learning respiratory with all life, the science of so many different things, and so much more! This book made me reflect on my own life so much!
Welcome to the warm and wonderful community of booktube. You’ve listed many of my favorite books! Love your calm and thoughtful style. I’m looking forward to your future conversations!
Your voice and cadence is so calming, the way you express and articulate your thoughts is really compelling, and your smile makes me smile!! And your thumbnail is great! I'm very excited for your videos!
Hi Dolapo! I really resonated with this video. I attended an engineering college for my undergrad and got a CS/Math degree, and for my graduate I attended another CS program at a public university. I loved my peers and those programs but they definitely tended to be cultural monoliths! I completely empathize that being a lit fic person in those cultural silos can be discouraging; not being into videogames/anime/fantasy/tech-bro culture has often made me feel a bit like an outcast at times. I’ve found that booktube can be a good outlet for finding people with different interests!
Immediately subscribed - love your unique background and intention (I also work in tech!) and appreciate your calming, articulate voice. Fantastic to see more black booktubers in my feed lately too! x
WELCOME Dolapo!! Booktube is so fun! I 100% relate to reading a bunch of self-help nonfiction and having the desire to move away from that. Happy to see fellow STEM major in Booktube. I studied Chemical Engineering in college 😀Excited to see more videos from you!
I’m late but so glad I found your channel! I’m a librarian at a stem university and found that our comp sci and engineering students love talking about books. Many use reading as a way to destress from their rigorous coursework which I think is great
Welcome! I’m a math teacher (so STEM-adjacent, but sometimes I get imposter syndrome when I call myself STEM EEKI) who loves to read and sometimes that’s hard for people to comprehend. So happy to have you in this space! You are very well spoken and calming.
Instant subscriber! Perhaps it is the way the computer science part of your brain naturally works, but I love the way that you crafted your responses in such an organized & formulaic, yet thoughtful and warm manner! Which sounds a lot like what you're trying to marry between your two interests of tech and books. And very much a fan of books that challenge our perspectives and engage us in true critical thinking. Looking forward to more of your Booktube recs :)
I think I can relate to you! I lived abroad for years and made friends who love reading there, but now that I'm back in the U.S. and in a new city, I don't have anyone I can see/talk to regularly who reads much at all. I'm also a STEM person so it was already hard to find those reading friends in the first place 😅 Having the online book community is such a great way to hear about a variety of books and see others' thoughts on what they're reading... somehow I feel such a sense of connection with people I don't even know. Welcome to booktube, I'm so happy to have come across your channel as you seem so kind and interesting ☺
Totally agree I loved this video and I like that you want to delve deeper into the books versus just giving recommendations. I started my Booktube last week haven't done my into video yet but I want to really discuss the books I have read, answer questions, do a deep dive of the characters and what the author is relaying in the story. Hope to get a lot of this structure from your channel.
Ahhh! I have also seen NickellesNook's booktube newbie tag and have been thinking of participating myself. Welcome!!
Welcome! "Why do you love reading" love that question! I'm not a big literature fiction reader and happy to have a new channel to get recommendations from and love to hear the conversations and discussions to be had.
You might enjoy In the Dream House: A Memoir by Carmen Maria Machado. One of my favorite books!
Welcome to BookTube! We're so happy you're here! Just from the books you show that you read I am very interested as my interest in literature is similar and maybe I will find new interests, as well, so looking forward to your content. Have fun! 📖
