And for the future, you will generally find more pacific halibut in the 200-300ft range. But since you had rockfish on board, youre limited to staying inside 20fm curve. Great trip.

When I was little we used to go to shelter cove. My father was a doctor and Mario Maci was one of his patients. This was back in the late 50's early 60's. Shelter Cove was totally undeveloped. There was a funky little place where you could get hamburgers and fries and fishing tackle. I remember seeing a picture on the wall of a 149.5 lbs halibut that was caught there.
The fishing was absolutely incredible back then! Good times and memories of my dad.
Also, there was a road at the bottom of the hill, before you crossed the Eel River called Forest Drive, we had a summer house there that was about a quarter mile upriver from that bridge.
