Build quality of my joe jr is awful. I had to redo the felt after 6 months - the felt i bought has lasted almost 3 years. Thermometer not calibrated. It was like a self assembly. I’d never buy one again, customer support was terrible. Thought i was buying a premium product.
Almost, the KJ Connected Joe is based on the KJ Classic 2. The KJ 3 has different dimensions and is taller then the KJ2 for example. Because of the extended hight the KJ3 intriduces the 3 tier cooking levels and works better with the JoeTisserie, more hight between the rotisserie and the heat. To set temperatures on the KJ is easy, I would therefor choose the KJ3 over the connected anytime 👍🏻👍🏻
I've found my Big Joe III keeps such a constant temperature that I literally have never used the temp-blower I bought for it. It's more consistent than my electric (Cookshack) smoker.
€ 2,300 is cheap?????? No. Not at all. My grill is amazing and it’s $175 I’ve had it for about 12 years. It’s a giant R2D2 style Trail Embers Water smoker grill combo. It’s almost 5 foot tall. Or approximately 1.5 meters tall. It has a 28” across round cooking surface. It has three grill racks and can be loaded on 3 levels. Two levels and the water pan is the most practical for smoking. It holds a lot of food. My only issue with it is that it did not come stock with stainless steel screws. They can be replaced for under 10$. But for me it’s free because I have salvaged stainless hardware from other projects. I like the quality of these ceramic grills and also I like the efficiency. But the electronics and plastics will be gone before the rest of this grill needs replaced. I liked the analog set up better. But really my comment is that this is NOT a cheap grill at all. It’s in fact one of the most expensive common grills you can buy.
I'll start off by saying, that it being the same price is a major plus to the brand, honestly. The only drawbacks I see are in terms of long-term usage. -Is the computer something you can swap out at a later date when it dies? because we all know it will die at some point. -Is the heating element something you can swap out at a later date too? because that too will 100% die. -Is the whole BBQ built the same as the classic? I see on the lower half it has a black skirt, does it have plastic anywhere that will rack over time? Is the inside built to the same standards? Is the ceramic as thick as the classic? All these questions only really matter 5-10+ years in the future, but if they are not things you can swap out and fix then I think honestly getting a classic Joe that is built like a tank and WILL last a lifetime and getting a 3rd party temp regulator/blower is the way to go, even if it does cost a little extra upfront. That way you will have full confidence the BBQ will outlive you because there are no electronics that will die in the future.
@@PITMASTERX That's always reassuring, as long as the electronic components are things that are user-replaceable with new slot-in items from the company itself in the future then no issue at all. It only really becomes a problem if the company stops supporting this line of BBQs in the future and customers are left with no parts. Which has happened a lot to many companies in the past, basically resulting in perfectly good items being only half as good if not outright useless.
I prefer the Big Joe Series 3 over the konnected joe because I do like to control my fires manually and not have a machine tell me what to do. I know it can be ran without. My friend he had the konnected joe and within a month the control fan went out and so did the automatic fire starter because moisture got into the controller. that was probably due to him not having a cover for it and cooking in the rain.
That’s what I commented was that the electronics and plastic will be gone before this grill even gets seasoned good. The grill will outlast all that stuff so the analog model would be better. And he had the nerve to call it cheap!
Personal opinion Must go indoors in winter because of the electronics,in 5 years probably version 2/3, taller , new design Slow roller integration etc etc. I consider it expensive ( same price here in Germany to a fully loaded Classic 3 ) but also susceptible to the elements in the long run and in comparison 🤷🏽♂️
Or, you could install ceramic inserts into an existing Weber 22" kettle and have pretty much the same performance at a fraction of the cost. Just did mine- $100USD and you're good to go.
Nice haircut, speaking well and you look quite healthy! So I knew you weren't crazy enough to just get rid of your Kamado Joe without replacing it with a new one!
Ik wil zo graag mijn classic 1 vervangen met de konnected joe maar twee dingen houden me tegen. 1. het is vals spelen 😆en 2. kan het vochtige Nederland aan?
OK, you almost lost me with wanting to dump your KJ. Love the wooden shoes. We are from Northern Europe, but have lived in the States for decades. We all had wooden shoes from visits to Holland. I got mine 63 years ago. They no longer fit?
What kind of warranty is it if Kamado Joe cannot, or will not replace items that fall apart (under warranty) for weeks or months? You cannot even use the grill, and it's under warranty? Buy an Egg or cook in your kitchen; this is an internet company with NO meaningful service.
You are going to regret that. Kamado Joe makes GREAT Kamado cookers... and TERRIBLE electronic devices. TERRIBLE. It has the worst reputation in the business. I love my KJ, but would NEVER EVER buy another Kamado Joe electronic device after the fiasco of the IKamand and the horrendous way KJ handled that mess. Anyone that has done any research on KJ electronics should know that already. Why are you not discussing it? Oh, never mind. I saw who sponsored the video.
You said it Wright.. i would never buy a electronic grill..takes al te fun a way.. but if the prise is the same.. then i woul do that.. I looked on markplaats no sing of a kj 2 ore a pallet smoker😂
I have two Big Green Eggs, a Large and a Mini Max. I also have a Propane Weber Genius that hasn’t been used in a few years. The electronic version could be a game changer but electronics do have glitches, dampers don’t. That and 2200 Euros = 3100 Canadian.
I guess I'm subscribed to the wrong channel, I was hoping to make some of you recipes, but if I need 2000 euros to cook them, then I need a cheap channel.
Great BBQ...butt 2300 euro's is not cheap its a lot of money for most people. I both a large Monolith for 800 euro. 😊 love your cooking video's keep upbthe good work.
I would have a hard time letting go of that...too many memories of good things cooked. If I had the space, I would have both. Because there's technology, and there's provenance.
I’d rather have the KJ3 if it’s the same price. lol. I don’t see how this thing is even a thing. Get a controller add on if you want or need one otherwise it’s not really needed. It’s kamado Joe trying to stay relevant with all the technology that’s happening in bbq when it’s not needed!
Sooo, this was just a promotional commercial for Kamado Joe.
Worst kind of clickbait
I just remembered why I stopped watching this channel... but got pulled in due to the title :(

They know this. That easier to use Konnected is equally desirable as either way you can go super pro with either one.
I've found my Big Joe III keeps such a constant temperature that I literally have never used the temp-blower I bought for it. It's more consistent than my electric (Cookshack) smoker.
Replacing a lifetime grill by one that will become obsolete instead of just getting a Thermoworks billows or something?
Yep. And KJ has a TERRIBLE reputation regarding electronics.
This

I bought a Flame Boss and attached it to my series 1 big Joe. I can control it with my cell phone. It's awesome.

I wonder about these things too but from what we can see now it seems all very durable and sturdy like youwould expect from a classic II or III

Wow. So do you have to charge it up? Plug it in?
You got a heart and no answer. He didn’t even read your comment. 🤷🏼
I love the wooden shoes. Had a pair as a kid and wore them all the time.
I’m afraid to ask, how much are you looking for it.
$3200 Canadian 💵 I’ll have to wait a while lol I already hear non stop about my Napoleon Grill costing more than her wedding ring. 😮
Money going to China too

It does look really good but up there on the price
You can easily put $3K - $4K or more into one of these 24"
You ship to california?
What's up with the wooden clogs?
It is traditional footwear here
We all wear them

If you ever find yourself in a pinch with not enough smoke-wood, you can use your shoes! 😁
The true definition of smokewear
Wooden that CLOG it!?

It'll be fine. Just keep it off the bottom by a foot.
In the US a trip to Target is always a substitute for going to the mother in law house.
staat ie al op marktplaats? 🤣
Yeah that one's cute an all. But where is the big Jo version??
Nice haircut, speaking well and you look quite healthy! So I knew you weren't crazy enough to just get rid of your Kamado Joe without replacing it with a new one!
I don't believe in pellet smokers/grills or auto grills etc. But I might try the one you got rid of

Luv it guilt the wife to say yes 😂
would love to buy it but I'm in the US.
It's for sale in the US

2300 Euros? I'll stick to my Weber for now, I think...
I just got 2 / $15 Webers that use traditional charcoal from Walmart.
I'm good for 4 or 5 years.

Clickbait with no substance
Good day.
Nice grill. But that kind of money can buy a lot of steaks. lol
Bruh, love the traditional shoes🙌🙌
So.... after 4 years will Kamado stop support for this app too???
Could have kept the BJ with a ThermoWorks fan and controller for $200 ish.
“ Stevie “ 😂
Nice video Roel, as always! Can't wait to see what you'll be grilling on this one 👍
Instead of selling it, what if you had some sorta giveaway? That way I can get it shipped to me for free and I don't gotta spend money getting one :P
It's a beauty!
I would love to own one, but out of my reach😢
Is that nice. He loved your comment with a heart. This guy is a joke.
As zaterdag ben ik in de buurt roel! Doe ik ook voor de gelegenheid klompen aan.. 200 cash. 😂

I believe he told in the video that it’s useable without the electronics, for the same price.. so why the f. not?
I have made the same experience and fully agree. I had posted a similar comment, but it seems to have been removed….
When you start relying on electronics to barbecue then you need to rethink your cooking abilities.
Not
Maybe lower or the same price...but definitely not by no definition of the word "cheap"...nice grill...but still overpriced.
