With overwhelming numbers an army in a pitched battle would be sending men to the flanks to outflank the smaller force then attack broadly across the rear. The developers need to work on it. @@codyflynn89

Apparently the developers were dealing with this issue last year as well as other things wrong with the game,
Instead of going round the flanks to envelop the flanks, the superior numerical force just runs at the end of the flank 8 times out of 10. @@codyflynn89

where are the star destroyers? where are the tie fighters? where is their air cover? those crappy millennium falcons dont count and honestly the AT-ATs didnt seem to do that well either...but at 16 minutes that was a cavalry charge and it was brilliant! they came through that gate and swept them away like a broom. brilliantly fought battle. give them better air cover when their outnumbered a thousand to one...
