Aladdin is definitely one of the best Disney films in the Disney renaissance. Aladdin and Jasmine have amazing chemistry, the animation is eye-popping, the characters are both hilarious and very well developed, the songs are just unforgettable, and Robin Williams is amazing as the Genie. I can't believe it''s already been 10 years since he passed away. He was one of the most talented people ever.
Well, I don't know if Sophie realised already. But Iago being the only talking animal sidekick is due to the fact that he's a parrot. They tend to talk irl as well, even if it's only mimicking. So it makes sense that in a Disney movie where animal sidekicks have a lot more human characteristics than in reality, parrots are not only capable of mimicking human speech, but they can legit speak themselves.
Yeah, it's not really that inconsistent with anything when it just exaggerates real-life traits of animals. Monkeys are very temperamental, too. So it makes sense why Abu would be that.
I think the biggest theme for this movie was the concept of the “diamond in the rough” Alladin is a thief, but he only steals because of his unfortunate circumstances. He was only shown to steal food in order to survive and then he was shown to be a good person by giving his food to hungry children. Yes he lied, but that was part of his character growth. He’s not perfect and makes mistakes, but he’s not a bad person. P.S I watched this movie all the time as a kid and I also disliked Abu.
Fun facts - 1. The Genie was animated to match Robin Williams' manic energy and quick improvisation. 2. Before he was the loudmouthed parrot with a big mouth, Iago was originally designed to be the "calm and serious straight man working off Jafar, who was originally conceived as more over-the-top, comedic, and irritable", but the filmmakers later reversed their personalities in large part in order to make Jafar more threatening and later casted Gilbert Gottfried because of his loud, brash and obnoxious voice.
Fun fact-araiabin nights-the first song of the movie had a lyric that originally said-“where they cut off your ear if they don’t like your face, it’s barbaric but hey, it’s home”. It had to be replaced.
@@marktapia8327 me too! I still have it in a box somewhere. I got rid of most of my VHS tapes, but I kept my faves and I kept the ones like that where they had differences. I also have the original VHS release of Men in Black with slightly different scenes and dialogue.
A good person can do bad things some times. Aladdin may have been a thief, but he was out of necessity, and he tried to do good always that he could for what we have seen. This seems like a lesson most kids learn when they are very young, I am puzzled Sophie had problems with that. Aladdin is good, but he is not perfect. He longs for what he lacks. Just like Jasmine. Also, Yago can talk because he is a parrot and parrots do talk. He is also a wizard's parrot, who knows why he can talk THAT well but I think it's plausible if you think in Jaffar's magic.
Best disney movie ever made! Disney might make a decent movie every now and then, but nothing they make will ever close to this legendary masterpiece known as Aladdin!
Yep. Those people have money. Aladdin doesn’t have any. Stole food, ready to tuck in, sees kids who are younger and he gives it to them instead because they’re worse off than him. He has resources from age, they’re still growing.
Aladdin will always be my favorite. Clever protagonist in Aladdin, treasure, flying carpet, Princess Jasmine, Robin Williams as Genie, Gilbert Gottfried as Iago, and Jafar was an awesome villain.
There is something about you singing along with these songs even though you'd never seen the movie, that makes this reaction special. This was never a favorite of mine as a kid, though I still have memories of the Jasmine and Carpet toys I used to play with.
"He has slaves" You know I watched this movie a few times I think and first as a teen, but I don't think I caught that until some TH-cam deal. I mean historical an early Medieval Arab prince having slaves is maybe par for the course, but did seem like an odd thing to be historically plausible about as this is a movie that's mostly loose about period detail. (In the Will Smith one they state he has "ten thousand servants" and ditches the slave thing.) I have heard that in a deleted song it's revealed the "slaves" were like insects transformed into people by the genie giving more of a "fairy godmother" vibe.
The animals in this movie are just versions of real life animals that are a bit exaggerated, so it makes sense which can and which can't talk and how they behave.
Let see as a child I seen this, lion kings, fox and the hound, space jam, and several other movie in theaters. RIP Robin Williams the one and only genie

I’ve known exactly what my three wishes would be, ever since I sat for two hours, waiting for my ride, back in ‘92, staring at Aladdin’s movie poster asking the same question: Wish 1: Omniscience; Wish 2: Omnipotence; Wish 3: Omnisophence. But, they must all apply simultaneously; or else you will be unbalanced.
Everyone, tell Sophie what’s all your three wishes.(If you want.) Mine are: 1. Instantaneous Teleportation. That way, I’ll be at work on time and save money traveling anywhere in the world. 2. The Philosopher’s Stone. A legendary substance/artifact that has extraordinary magical powers. Such as turning any metal into pure gold and produces the elixir of life which will grant the drinker immortality. As long as I continuously drink the elixir weekly, I’ll never grow old and never die. Of course I’m not going to live all the way till the end of Earth, just long enough for me to accomplish my dreams to inspire humanity. 3. Seeing both my own past and my own future at will. That way I can recall all of my childhood memories and experiences I had and remember my mistakes. And knowing my future allows me to be careful of what I wish for and protect and guide my friends and family.

Disneyland/Disney World has their version of the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. You sit in a Magic Carpet and you rotate around in a Magic Carpet and you control how high or how low you are in the carpet. It’s almost like a carrousel but for Magic Carpets and you control the carpet
From a visual standpoint though, the escape from the Cave of Wonders has more in common with Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye in Disneyland. Coincidentally though. Just something I thought of when she said that.
😄 If I may state the obvious, the reason the parrot can talk but the monkey and the tiger can't, is because that's the way it is in reality. Some breeds of birds are the only living things on the planet besides humans that can speak. 😋 In case you didn't notice, the voice of the Genie was also the voice of Fender in the movie "Robots." A common theme among Disney Princesses is that a lot of them seem to have fathers who are short, fat bumbling doofuses ("Beauty & The Beast," "Tarzan" etc). 🤔 I've noticed that you've reacted to live versions of a handful of Disney creations but not the original cartoons that they're based on. I highly recommend the original "Alice In Wonderland" (1951) and "101 Dalmatians" (1961), which I think is a lot better than "Cruella." 😉👍
It seems you went into the movie with a very modern perception of it. but when you think of it from more anchient times, it makes perfect sense: the sultan is a pushover: yes he is. in most kingdoms the heir is just the oldest son of the previous sultan and if he happens to become lazy, this happens. he is still the sultan but get's his ideas from elsewhere. in this case from a magician but in RL you didn't need magic to do this jasmin has to marry another prince: that rule was not in place because someone felt like it but had a real purpose. that is to broaden the influence of your kingdom/family and to forge alliances. marriing off a princess to an influential family also benefits your own family/kingdom but accepting aladdin (a literal nobody) will weaken the kingdom once this goes public. suddenly the new sultan is a worthless peasant. not only will jasmins father let go of a new potential ally, other countries will prob even look down on aladdin as the new heir and prob shun him just because he was not from a noble family. so for him to accept aladdin the way he is, is also a huge risk for his land. so her father was actually very kind to her. first for letting her choose wich prince she wants to marry and later to accept aladdin a last note: the real solution was to just give jasmin the lamp. she can now wish for alladin to be a prince again and he can then keep his promise to free the djinn
I watched this movie a few times growing up but I'm not as crazy about it as I used to be. The animation is great, the genie is awesome and Alladin and Jasmine's romance is pretty solid. Aside from that though the soundtrack - while far from bad - is not my favorite and just in general, I'm not as motivated to revisit this movie compared to others like Mulan and Atlantis the lost Empire.
Hm, yeah, I always felt like the *old man in the old prison with life changing advice* character was used before in a very famous/classic way but I just couldn't place it. It WAS the Count of Monte Cristo. Well spotted.
Okay. Yeah. Aladdin. Here's some trivia: In the opening song, instead of "where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense", the lyric was originally (and I'm not even joking) "where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face" ... which made it into theaters but was altered by the time the VHS copies came out. The parrot was going to be laid-back and British, but the filmmakers saw a comedy called "Problem Child" where Gilbert Gottfried played an adoption agent with anger issues. So they changed the parrot to fit Gottfried. By the time the film was finished, they realized they'd done two in a row (the other being Beauty & the Beast) where the villain tries to force-marry the female lead. Some of those on the writing staff were also working on Lion King, realized they'd written a subplot where Scar tries to marry Nala, and talked themselves out of that. Speaking of the writers: I consider this one of the weakest Disney Renaissance entries on a script level, focusing more on jokes than on plot or character. (Pocahontas and Hercules are the only worse ones.) You can look up the Black Friday incident, where Jeffrey Katzenberg forced the writers to start from scratch and get the entire story right in 8 days. But another problem was that many of the studio's best writers were preoccupied with other projects. As far as I know ... though my knowledge of Disney Parks is kinda lacking ... there hasn't been a Cave of Wonders ride. The soundtrack having coherent style is a miracle. Half the lyrics were done by Howard Ashman before he died. Ashman was much more underground. The other half were by Tim Rice, whose claim to fame before that point was working with Andrew Lloyd Webber on operatic epics. The two lyricist's styles are night and day, but their songs somehow balance each other.
Suit yourself. It's the mess of a project taken on by Musker & Clements to appease Jeffrey Katzenberg and FINALLY earn the right to make Treasure Planet. It's one which (as Lindsay Ellis made clear in one of her masterpiece essays) introduces so many clashing artistic styles that the film doesn't quite know where to go with them all. But on the plus side, it has Hades. We can all agree that it has Hades.
20:32 Take that, Gilbert & Sullivan's _The Sorcerer_ ! Though that does make it pretty ironic, that when my friends and I were playing my homebrewed Gilbert & Sullivan Monopoly the other night, one of them thought I was quoting Genie when I sang John Wellington's signature song.
Girl, do I have a treat for you! I think you will LOVE the parody musical (which you can watch for free on TH-cam) called Twisted by the Starkid company! Not only is it hilarious, but it also has so much heart and amazing songs! It's also a great introduction to Starkid in general. Not G rated though, just fyi
Wait what u think aladdin steals just cuz you think he's stealing from people who's more poor i hope you know that the poor will steal from others if they even get a chance so i think that statement makes no sense he only steals when he really needs to so to call him a real villain is dumb😭😭 yeah ignore him helping the kids when he gave them his food when he too was also hungry and helped Jasmine when he didn't even know her and care about the fact that he steals?? "Wasn't a good man for 90% of the movie" is just bullshit this is the second most horrible Aladdin reaction ive ever seen and if u didn't like the songs L taste
I was sort of intrigued to see someone risk the potential backlash of sounding a bit "poor people shouldn't steal even food, they should get a job." I'm a pretty conservative Catholic, but Catholic social ethics kind of indicates poor people can steal essential nutrition if there is no other option. It's plausible Aladdin isn't even employable as a poor orphan. Now begging should still be an option, and morally it's the better option, but I don't know that I've ever been tough on stealing basic food. (When you're poor, but can afford food, and want to steal like candies than you can't afford that is wrong though I might be lenient even then in certain cases like a child or someone with emotional issues.)
Holy overcritical Batman.... Next time, relax, have a drink, and enjoy the songs and characters. I appreciate that you reacted to this and put in the time and effort, but in my opinion, you took this way too seriously.
19:00 Reminds me of this kids' show I used to watch where the main characters discover a magic lamp while fishing, and one of them rubs the lamp by just wiping the plants off it.
Wait, you're able to watch the newer Disney films in Russia? I thought they blocked the release of some of their more recent films there, specifically around the time when Turning Red came out. Unless you're using a VPN that is. That's why I was confused if you were actually in Russia, or just from Russia and moved somewhere else.
Characters are not all good and have to grow over time so you get a better person toward the end of the film. Aladdin's lies bring him within striking distance of becoming prince and Jasmin's husband, but it's all based on lies and we're seeing his character that he knows he's doing wrong and he has to tell the truth and everything bad that happens is because of him. His character shines through, he saves the day and ultimately everything works out for the best. Movies have to do what is convenient for the story, so the writers aren't gonna just say at the start of the film that the sultan can change the law and thus release the tension in the film of Aladdin being ineligible to marry the princess. We find this out at the very end to release the tension and resolve the ending into a happy ending. The sultan might have been a weak leader, but look at what a strong leader like Jafar can do, lots of misery and terror. The sultan might also not be able to solve all the kingdom's problems. It's easy to say what a leader should do with his kingdom's wealth, but reality is not always the same as wishful thinking. Can't judge people of a time based on today's standards. Slavery was part of the world into antiquity until only about 200 years ago and there is still slavery in certain areas. Why would Aladdin be surprised by a talking lion head made out of sand? People were very superstitious in the past and they might believe such things were possible and for it to actually happen would mean to him that there is treasure in that magical cave so he can marry the princess.
Jasmine doesn't understand that she can only marry a prince, that's her father's law, that's why Aladdin pretends to be a prince, that's the moral of the story: if you're not rich, you'll never be able to have the girl, it's like in real life, hahaha
Fun fact, this story is not supposed to take place in the Middle East. While it is true that that story of Aladdin comes from an Arabic text (1001 nights) The story itself was specifically set in China.
Not exactly. Cause in th introductory sentence of th story th narrative is set in a city in china, yeah, but nonetheless there are no further references to china w/in th story, which instead presents numerous elements that can be linked to a strictly middle eastern setting. Starting frm th presence of th jinn, n then moving on to th sovereign who is mentioned w/ th title of 'sultan' rather than 'emperor', th 1sr title of th arab rulers while th 2nd is of th oriental 1s. All th chrs in th story have arabic names, are explicitly muslim n frequently mention allah in dialogue. So some have hypothesized that th story actually takes place in arabian, also counting th fact that 'china' was anciently used in arabia to figuratively indicate a generic n mysterious 'distant land'
This movie has my favorite characters of the Disney Canon besides Donald Duck (Iago and the Genie) and Jafar and the Carpet are great as well. Everyone else though... I don't click with. Well, the Sultan is ok because he is so gullible and incompetent and actually has a character arc. Not a fan of Aladdin and Jasmine though.
Except genies were evil creatures. Every wish came with a price. ie, you wish for money, but a close loved one would die so you could have their inheritance for example
As a child I thought Genie was hilarious but now I can't stand him, he's just too much. And I've always thought this movie was way too sexual with the Jasmine and Jafar scene.

The soundtrack having coherent style is a miracle. Half the lyrics were done by Howard Ashman before he died. Ashman was much more underground. The other half were by Tim Rice, whose claim to fame before that point was working with Andrew Lloyd Webber on operatic epics. The two lyricist's styles are night and day, but their songs somehow balance each other.
great comment but the one thing i don’t agree with is what you said about hercules. hercules is one of the best ones disney has made!!
- sophie: 'she's the literal princess!'
- also sophie 2 seconds later: 'oh yeah.. she's a girl 💀💀💀' xD
Don't believe what you see. Jafar was a good guy. His story was.... Twisted!!
1) Jedi powers
2) infinite money
3) Maybe not immortality, but, healing powers.
Definitely a fun classic. 2 and 3 are also fun. I kinda like 3 a little more than the first 2.
OMG NOWAY FINALLY MY FAVORITE MOVIE
This one was my favorite first time watch.
i will never care about someone stealing necessities
Please sign petition(s) anywhere to save lost disney film "gigantic", it will be there "biggest" hit since tangled or frozen.
For a while I've been thinking that Jasmine must have had 3 wishes before Aladdin released the Genie.
Nah, that would have solved everything.
@@dracoargentum9783 Exactly. From these details you can see that this is a film aimed for children 😅
I definitely agree with you… Jafar is the best villain. 🐍😈⚡️🔥
What is the most worst horrible aladdin reaction
I've been holding off and giving my judgments until the end but I could not move past this abu You could die lol😂
Umm you seem like you come in to this Movie negative and was that way the whole show!!! Its a CARTOON!!!!!!
Finally this day has come now i want you react Beauty and Beast
Holy overcritical Batman.... Next time, relax, have a drink, and enjoy the songs and characters. I appreciate that you reacted to this and put in the time and effort, but in my opinion, you took this way too seriously.
Sophia looks like a super model.
19:00 Reminds me of this kids' show I used to watch where the main characters discover a magic lamp while fishing, and one of them rubs the lamp by just wiping the plants off it.
Jafar got gazeem killed and has no remorse of his death
Given your many complaints, you should watch Team Starkid's "Twisted." You will LOVE it.
My three wishes would be as follows. 1. Be able to communicate with animals. 2. Meet my anime crush 3. Free the genie who is granting the wishes
I don’t think I’ve seen this movie before. But I’ve been looking forward to this reaction! 🧞♂️
I think this one might be better than the live action one.
Has a good fact lesson of this best film. Which made me love Genie 🧞♂️ even more
Watch Aladdin 2 and 3 next!
Also, Happy first day of Autumn! 🍂🤎
Definitely one of robin williams best performances ever!
My three wishes would be to be immortal or eternally young. 2 I wish to be the most powerful wizard in the world and 3 to be rich.
Jasmine doesn't understand that she can only marry a prince, that's her father's law, that's why Aladdin pretends to be a prince, that's the moral of the story: if you're not rich, you'll never be able to have the girl, it's like in real life, hahaha
Genie is top tier
Robin Williams is magic
What exactly made Aladdin a prince? His clothes? Money?
U should watch bridge to Terabhitia. But get ready with some tissues🤧.i watched it yesterday and canr imagine how you would react to it😂
Fun fact, this story is not supposed to take place in the Middle East.
@@Gradestar10 Also, a large portion of Western China is basically just a continuation of Central Asia, both in terms of the landscape and the people.
And there were 2 geniuses, the genie of the lamp and the genie of the ring
So basically, this would be like setting _Hamlet_ in England.
Die Figur ist die Figur!
Jasmine was THAT princess
Live action next! With Will Smith
Not liking the "Prince Ali" song is crazy
This movie has my favorite characters of the Disney Canon besides Donald Duck (Iago and the Genie) and Jafar and the Carpet are great as well. Everyone else though... I don't click with. Well, the Sultan is ok because he is so gullible and incompetent and actually has a character arc. Not a fan of Aladdin and Jasmine though.
Вау, ты всё-таки из России, это так круто! У тебя отличный английский!
Except genies were evil creatures. Every wish came with a price. ie, you wish for money, but a close loved one would die so you could have their inheritance for example
Always thought you were German, didn't know you were in Russia.....
What kind of movies did she watch as a kid don’t tell me she didn’t watch Toy Story as a kid.
I love it, it could be nice if you react to my favorites movie "song of the sea" its so lovely 😊
The twisted show of starkid completely ruined this movie fot me lol😅 but i do love the songs
As a child I thought Genie was hilarious but now I can't stand him, he's just too much. And I've always thought this movie was way too sexual with the Jasmine and Jafar scene.
How was this wierd?
22:50 Great cameo! 😂
Hello there hey there hey Hello hi hello hi hello hello
i think would wish to get to know you
to be a supernatural being
to help my mother
If you are in Russia how do you have TH-cam? VPN? Anyway great reaction as always!
Her profile says she's located in the USA, so I'd assume VPN. It says to the server she's from the US when she's actually from Russia.
@@paleo-bites-podcast Okey thanks. I am just from Russia as well so I know how it's like in here, that's why I am asking.
So you save best stuffs for last huhh👀
