  • We set out to clear remaining logs, do some brushing and trail ledging on the West Fork Teanaway Trail #1353 after two years of the trail being blocked from the Jolly Mountain Fire. Fortunately many motorcycle riding volunteers had been working the trail over the summer of 2018 and into summer of 2019 clearing downed timber from the fire so we focused on brushing and some ledging of the tread. This is the lower 2/3s or so of the trail that has the most exposure. You may notice the pace is a little slower. I have a lot of weight in my pack with trail tools and a recovery rope, and that really raises my center of gravity. Also there are many spots on this trail where you don't want to make any mistakes, so a slower pace is advised. This is an expert trail for sure, there are sections I am not showing that require much more technical riding skills. If you are planning to ride this trail also check flows of the Teanaway River system, there are several crossings that will be very hazardous at any levels above the July/August flow rates.

Just need to comment on this, very well done and top-notch scenery....about the same time I did a 72 nd birthday ride 80 miles from South Cle Elum
to Hawkins Peak. There were three of us, the guy who lead the ride logged this area 30 years before. The trail we did that was like this goes from Lake
Gallagher 1392 Trail down to the Teanaway wooden bridge. He told be there was only a few switchbacks but it turned out he forgot there was 26 of
them. The trail was narrow with the same kind of rock wall on the one side and the drop-offs made my butt pucker. I was very happy to make it
through and live to tell about it. I have raced in WA ST and owner well over 1,000 bikes....Thankx.....eBurg WA

Great video! Should be used as a cautionary warning to rookies wanting to ride in the Teanaway 😂 Best put your big boy pants on!

I can tell this is an older video (probably summertime). We’ve had some really crappy weather here the last month. I started Middle Fork Teanaway two weeks ago and the river crossings were really deep. It was raining and started snowing real heavy. I had to turn around where the giant tree is blocking one of the crossings. The way around it was so deep the water would have been up to my seat. Can’t imagine what that trail is like in spring. Did Yellow Hill 3 weeks ago and it was still good then. Was raining ice at the top however. Anyway good luck. I enjoy your videos and Dagster as well. I would love to get involved with some trail clearing next season. Hit me up if you’re interested.

Yes this was in July. There is a gaging station on the Teanaway, it is below where the forks come together but still provides insightful data on how wicked the crossings are going to be and it needs to be relatively low flow rates to get through there. No doubt there will be more trees to clear next spring, and Middle Fork and Jolly Creek could use some serious brushing hoping we can hit that next year.
