    Having been on keto for a number of years with some weight loss success that then stalled and wouldn’t budge this video has explained more in five minutes that dozens of hours of watching keto experts. I gave it away for a more balanced but still low carb lifestyle.

    WOW! So funny story, I was confused. I watch videos with captions on and when he said" high saturated fats like butter" the captions said "WATER". I was just blown away in disbelief. I was questioning life and its existence all in those few seconds. I went back several times and finally saw the picture of butter, then life was back on track. Oof, what a ride.

    Best information I have heard about keto and nutrition. My only question/comment is: it seems that the body doesn't substitute ketones for glucose freely. It seems like certain activities, i.e. brain functions and anaerobic activities such as weight lifting or sprinting require glucose exclusively. If it's not present in the diet, the body will break muscle and bone tissue rather than switch to ketones. Obviously not a desirable outcome. I'm for reducing carbs, but not too low; especially when the person is very active. 50-100 grams maybe.

      Gluconeogenesis solves this problem. Doing this diet in all varieties myself, if fat is high enough, there is no issue

      @@carnivore-muscle
      I'm not sure gluconeogenesis is a thing. Not sure whether the process is proven scientifically. I'm talking from experience: I did keto, cut the carbs too low, had high fat and was active physically. Did some blood tests which revealed reduced muscle and bone density (low creatinine and adj calcium). I reintroduced moderate healthy whole carbs and the results went back to normal. So my advice for any one who tries keto is to keep an eye on the markers for muscle and bone mass, not just blood sugar and insulin sensitivity.

    • @carnivore-muscle
      @carnivore-muscle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@abdelrahmanelsheikh5798 it's always a good idea as you say. I've experienced gluconeogenesis in a measured setting 100s of times, i.e. protein post workout only and blood glucose goes up 30% higher than if I were to just have a normal meal. It would also explain the 'dawn effect' if you're familiar?

      @@carnivore-muscle
      Are you able to rule out breaking down muscle and bone mass as being responsible for the elevated glucose? Just curious, can this gluconeogenesis happen fast enough to supply glucose during sprinting or weight lifting when it's required very quickly (hence anaerobicly)? I.e. as fast as converting glycogen to glucose?

    • @carnivore-muscle
      @carnivore-muscle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@abdelrahmanelsheikh5798 yes, I was on gear at the time 💪😂 in muscle dissections of athletes following a low carb diet (long term) they found muscle glycogen levels were identical, despite no direct glucose intake. Many long distance athletes for example are now following a low carb lifestyle. Really good question

    I started two days ago. I’ve lost 10lbs of water weight, my muscles cramp at excessive stretching. Still drinking water and keeping carbs under 50. I don’t eat pork and rarely eat beef. If I compare the fats from this to the fats of my regular diet, this is serving me. Any fat I’m consuming is natural, I’m not slamming bags of chips and doughnuts or eating three burgers a day on top of sitting up at night smoking weed and eating anything in my path. I think I’m on to something good.
