I still remember how it was a huge adjustment for me during my first round at DIC during the $th season (The ABC Years) of working on staff there and we had 4 different art departments crammed into one large Sweat Room. I was still used to storyboard artists having their own small offices with one or two board crew mates together like we had in the earlier days of Filmation...!
From everything that your fellow Filmation staffers have told me (over the last two decades), there was NO place quite like Filmation! :) - I sadly have not stumbled upon any of your storyboards from The Real Ghostbuters...which is incredibly frustrating...
Wow that was an episode and a half. Just so much covered. Really opened up my eyes to so much history, happens and old shows I forgot about. Looking forward to the next part.
Many people who talk about their experiences with DIC have always used the 'Doin' It Cheap' anacronym as A way to describe how they made their cartoons, and by the mid to late 80's, you can see the quality of their shows go down. I can understand why Vic refers to 'Maxi's World' as A 'nightmare' show due to most of it'a quality. (There was A crossover episode with 'The Beverly Hills Teens' that featured Bianca as A blond instead of A raven haired brunette. Real 'consistency', right there.)
Vic Dal Chele - Ghostbuster armed with rubber bullets. :D Ah more of the war or at least strong dislike between the Americans and the French. I'll bet hardly anyone at the time knew that Diffusion Information and Communication was the REAL abbreviated meaning of DiC. Also avoiding unions, no wonder Haim Saban was close friends with Jean Chalopin, they sadly must have been similar minded when it comes to preserving money, obviously if people started calling DiC "Do It Cheap". (BTW I just learnt that Jean had since started a career in banking...OK he is the French Haim Saban 'sighs). But seriously though, Vic was given the OK to work at DiC by the union, only to be brought up on charges by them?! Classic case of a union having too much power, that's entrapment and it's disgusting! Though I'm glad Vic wasn't formally charged and in a way helped to bring the union out of the dark ages. Though the vast amount of work being outsourced to Asia sounds like it too was partially responsible for that. I also see now why Haim and Jean may have been against unions. He worked on Kissyfur, yay. :) I remember Maxie's World (based on another doll line by Hasbro). I was not expecting someone to call it a nightmare though, but fair enough since he was involved in it's production. :D Very interesting stuff. :) Thank you again James. :)

Thank you James. These interviews are always insightful and enjoyable.
My pleasure - I knew that Vic had MANY an anecdote to tell! :)
yay, part 5! This is so amazing and the stories Vic is telling are great. Sitting on pins and needles for that To Be Continued...
There's some, as expected, rather fascinating material in the final part! :)

I recall Maxi's World being shown BRIEFLY on TV over here in the UK...and it really wasn't my cup of tea! :)
