My wife uses these type of bottles of bottles in her business and I have been using them along with my GlueBot. You are right though they are handy. I can put it in my shop apron while working.

Agree the bottle size & bead size look much better, but a couple of features with the Titebond & others: you can close the cap one-handed just by pushing it down, but more importantly, the cap isn't separate to the bottle. I can see those little red caps going missing a lot...

yes they do get lost almost immediately... but there is little reason to cap the small bottle since glue does not spill out. It would take a long time for it to dry out inside.

I don't normally keep it in my pouch. Ideally, you want multiple bottles around

Disclaimer.... I sourced these products from US Plastics and bought a larger quantity for the lowest price for resale. However, you can buy the same products from them if you want to. US Plastics will only ship UPS, so that means that for a small quantity of product, I can beat their prices selling on ebay with the postal service, and still make around $4 profit per item. Not sure if this plan will work... but these bottles are made in China so I don't give a f*ck.

Hi mate. All the way from Aus! Can I ask an unrelated question? What do you use on your cast iron surfaces to stop the rust? I noticed in the BG your Mitre Saw is so clean! And I know where you are it can get super cold! Your videos are super informative by the way!

There is a Baby Bot 4 ounce bottle now made by Fastcap. I have a 2 ounce bottle similar to yours that I use along with the Fastcap brand bottles.

I never really understood the appeal of the glubot's function. slower response...more work... I don't get it.

This is my rationale for the small glue bottle vs. a larger size bottle...
The glue flow is more responsive and easier to control when the bottle is full, plus providing the advantage of applying glue in any orientation. Therefore, a multiple set of small bottles kept full is better than one larger bottle, both in versatility and time saved.

+hffcom There could also be a pressure aspect, the same force on a smaller bottle gives a higher pressure and thus a good flow even through a small opening.

That is correct for gasses under pressure (PV=nRT)
not sure about liquids which do not really compress.. I think it would be the same pressure for liquid minus any difference gravity makes. however, less air volume in the bottle = faster glue response.

hffcom I was more thinking this: my thumb force divided by 'most' of the cross section of the bottle gives the internal pressure in the bottle. (P=F/A) A smaller (1/2 size) bottle has a smaller cross section and should give a higher pressure ( Psmall=F/(A/4) =4P ).
Of course without testing it's just a theory.

you are still thinking in terms of gasses. this is a fluid dynamics problem.... Poiseuille's equation. read paragraph under T4.4 wps.aw.com/wps/media/objects/877/898586/topics/topic04.pdf

What if you filled the little bottles from the big bottle much easier and no spills I would think. I always wondered why you used small bottles in this "big" workshop , now I know, thank you for sharing with us...
Oh dear ... next time I will watch the end of the video before opening my mouth LOL

What about the squeeze bottle you often use in fixing up reclaimed board cracks? Where do you find that?

I am not sure where I got those... I am looking for something similar. many different kinds out there... the ones with the metal needle tips don't last very long. hard to find a good plastic tip

Did you try to babe bot? It's a very small version of the Glue Bot. I know Paul, I'll ask if he could send you one to try.

I bought two 4 oz. Baby Bot glue dispensers. They are really cheap and the threads are so bad that it's almost impossible to seal the nozzle in place. They ended up in the trash.

I bet you can get bottles all different sizes where those tips would just screw on if you wanted a slightly larger bottle.

the small 2 oz. bottles have smaller caps and spouts. I couldn't get the same level of precise control with the 4 oz size... but it depends on what you are doing with the glue

Is there any kind of cap for the big bottle included?

    • @hffcom
      @hffcom  8 ปีที่แล้ว

+James Stanek No which is a drawback since the big bottle will leak if tipped over. I'm working on a glue station caddie made from scrap wood to help minimize that risk.
