As a journalist, and I only got into a light aircraft ONCE (8-seater) and not long after in a commercial prop plane...and that was enough to firmly decide: I don't fly in these. Period. Jet engines, or I give me a car. I've since had several colleagues ending up in crashes in these, some of them more than once. Not worth it.
If he himself doubted whether he would carry the plane himself on a dark night.. why didn't he just hire a pilot who was senior and truly reliable in carrying the flight?! This is an endless regret, basically in the end he has lost two lives as well as his own! he basically had a certificate that didn't match his experience. tragic.
