What i got from the ending is that the director, Hideaki Anno, is doing fine now and we can all move on with our lives. From back in the day during the tv series, Anno had a lot of issues, depression and such, which was reflected in his work. We can see it from how the story of Evangelion played out. There was a recent documentary on him and behind the scenes of 3.0+1.0 if you wanna go deeper into it. Mari is essentially a reflection of his wife who helped him through it all. The scene at the end of the movie is Anno's hometown where he grew up, so he wanted to show a bit of that. Thanks for the reaction, was fun watching along with you!
I always view that Thrice Upon a Time is an antithesis to End of Evangelion, since it follows very similar plot beats but most of the situations are reversed to temper audience expectations. Following a lot of the behind the scene production and seeing some of the meta narratives in the final film gave a lot of fans, including myself, a cathartic reaction towards the end. Glad you enjoyed the journey, loved the reaction as always!
It also makes sense for Shinji to end up with Mari. We all hoped him to be with Rei or Asuka. All of us did. But Shinji choosing Mari broke the cycle between the three of them. So, a beautiful gal with big boobies came outta the left field and took Shinji. Also Gendo avoiding Shinji was him avoiding a part of Yui, the Yui that resides in Shinji just like Gendo himself. Gendo sought for the Yui he knew, not Yui as she is right now. A good memory. Edit : Church has awesome speeches.
@@ROBLOXGamingDavid Also the fact that he pretty much succeeded every major project he set out to do. Completed the 'Shin' films, and now he's basically free to do whatever he wants next.
Moral of the story : End up with an old lady disguised as an adult and be a wage slave. Honestly, this is cathartic from those who've experience OG Eva
if you didn't catch it- The world was core-ized, including all the eva infinities and so on. This is why they had to prepare so much to "dive"- by going into the world, they were diving inside a core... something we know, causes mental contamination, and therefore can break up AT fields (can't have an AT field against X if you share a mind with X). basically, without those stabilizing tubes made to ward off the effects of cores, they'd all get tang'd immediately, which we see, as fuyutski does, piloting a ship with minimal protection for a couple minutes. (and it should be apparent but fuyutski loved Yui too, just never got a chance to really get close) Mari was a close friend, and possibly a student of Fuyutski or Yui. it's never explained much but she likely betrayed gendo and fuyutski at some point, and did most all of what she did, to follow Yui's wishes. the only real differences in this universe from the last, is that there were 5 adams and 5 spears. (NGE had 1 adam, and lillith's spear broke during the first impact) fake spears can be made, but only real spears work to truly rewrite reality. Well, that, and this series' asuka is a clone. *just like rei.*. Unlike rei, though, she's a full clone, and can make her own AT field. Note how it showed hundreds- only 2 Asukas survived -Asuka sohryu, the one you got to love in the previous series- was the soul in unit 02 in this series. Rei's AT field is kept active by NERV's suit. Whether she had a soul, gains a soul, or by leu of being lillith's flesh, has a residual one/at field, is up for debate. eva imaginary is INCREDIBLY meta. basically, because people think about, and all share the same imagery about what eva is... if you can somehow get to that imaginary eva, you can rewrite the world's collective consciousness and cause it to perceive the world of eva as different. Gendo literally went "here's andy's mind. let's just change how he thinks about us to make our world different, because we don't exist without him thinking about us." the only way his wish could be granted... was for the viewers and creators of the movie to grant it. So Gendo used the spears to turn it into the lillith for his adam, making it real... and us who have seen the third impact, can't help but see a giant rei again... or something like that. That's what everyone is saying but I think it's simple- It may just be that imaginary refers to imaginary numbers, and because our minds use real things to represent imaginary stuff(like the letter i, which you are seeing physically as a representation of √−1), if we go to the negative space, an imaginary (√−EVA)(explaining the black- it's negative) becomes real, (turns white) when we apply the human equation (hope and despair), and crosses the doors of guf, as it no longer is not real. the golgatha object is actually seen in a couple shots in the previous film (1:24:50), right before the fourth impact is stopped- so gendo was clearly trying to get to it then but had to take the detour at all, because Ryoji killed Lillith between 2.0 and 3.0. Without lillith and adam, gendo cannot become god, so he has to go to the place only adams/gods can inhabit and get one there. This may mean the golgatha object is what made the moons in the first place, and can simply be used to make imagination reality. It's clear the first ancestral race never wanted anyone to use it, as they put it in a place only a perfect being could reach. Note that it's also the same shape as EOE's cross of spears- meaning it's maybe a souped up, permanent version of it. and as a note in a more meta way remember- hideyeki anno went through this. The cycle of evangelion was a cycle as much for the creators as the characters, and the curse of eva is very much real. Neon Genesis Evangelion was made, and in doing so healed Hideyeki anno with its ending. it let him end a painful chapter of his life. but it created so many otakus, who became shut-ins, or ignored their own lives, or used it to perpetuate their escapism... because it spoke to them. they needed more- they could understand it- it spoke to them. Rebuild of Evangelion, for any otaku, anime fan, or similar- was a way to end this chapter of their lives, to end a decades long cycle of escapism into imaginary worlds- a not always kindhearted "good night, good morning, thank you, good bye.", and one meant to snap people out of it, even if it's a bit rough. They even denied the viewers a conclusion to the waifu war by having shinji choose the 4th option. little do they know I ship Kaji and Kaworu, who both explicitly reference gay romance and are last seen walking down the road together, talking about gardening and hanging out. HA. really though, I don't quite believe they're a pair, though they do likely embody the souls of lillith and adam. a bad boy who's overly sweet and girl looking to learn to enjoy life, though... I can dig it. the ending was fantastic, and as someone who grew up with eva, born just before it aired- it's truly the end of an era- almost three decades running.
Fantastic commentary. The "science" of how the events in the series works is astounding. What you've said about diving into a core-ized world makes perfect sense. It's just insane beyond belief. Ima really need to deep dive into some of the lore here. From a meta persepctive, Asuka being a clone of our original Asuka is pretty funny considering how much she has hated Rei (who is a clone) for being a clone. Accepting that OG Asuka is the soul in unit 02, the scene where Asuka tries to spear Unit 13 is so much more intense. (At 1:25:50 in this video). I mean we see the Unit 02 put up a AT field that then Asuka counters by going angel mode. If OG Asuka is the soul of unit 02 it's like the two versions of her duking it out through their AT fields clashing with each other. Hopefully I'm understanding that right, I really need to revisit so many of these scenes with all this in mind. Eva imaginary is such a wacky concept I kinda love it. I really like the "√−EVA" way of putting it. Who knew my high school math classes would come in clutch for Evangelion lmao. I like the intrepretation of Gendo messing with the audiences perception as part of the formula. Insanely meta, but very interesting. These pokes at our reality (like the realistic Rei head or the reality scenes from EoE) are crazy in a meta-narrative way. I'll have to go back and find the golgatha object in the last movie. Having this reality bending artifact hidden away in a place that only a "perfect being could reach" is conceptually an absolutely fire idea. So juicy. I've gotten some hints of this otaku meta-narrative throughout the series as a whole for sure. I do really like how this movie closes the door and moves on. It's a beautiful message to everyone who, like you're saying, has been affected by the series thusfar. Having Shinji go for Mari is also a brilliant move from this perspective in order to dodge the waifu war. Lmao I never even considered the Kaji x Kaworu. Honestly why not. Even if they're just gardening bros thats fine too. It's been a wild ride watching all of Evangelion over a few months, especially considering that it is a three decade long series. 100% worth every second of watching, analyzing, and thinking about. Thank you for the sick breakdown I appreciate it!
this movie not only breaks the loop but it also opens the door that all the other spin-offs and material spent by eva is canon where each one is just one of the many, many loops that have already happened as this is the ultimate end of all story, what a perfect ending detail asuka appears in the last scene but she's blurred in the corner but she appears as an adult at the end of the movie funny fact: hideaki anno ends the waifu war of asuka vs rei that has been going on since 1995 by introducing mari with shinji i particularly think it was the best option.
I'll have to go back and find Asuka in that last scene oh boy. It is very funny tho that the "waifu war" is concluded with Mari who just showed up outta nowhere. I can respect the Mari action, she earned it from popping off repeatably

The whole series is like being invited to a gathering in a really cool place, but nobody really cares about you enough to catch you up on what's going on in their conversations and you're left watching all the cool stuff they're doing without any context of anyone's prior experiences and relationships. Basically, you're an outsider in this experience, and you as a viewer are an afterthought. It's a gathering of beautiful people, in a beautiful place, doing beautiful even meaningful things, but there's no effort made to be inclusive to you unless you go out of your way to dismiss that glaring fact and just enjoy the experience as a third party.
bro you gotta watch Gurren Lagann, it has mechas and reminds me a lot of Evangelion. It kinda has the same themes but looks at it from a different angle.
yeah copyright is kinda the worst. There are few to no cuts in this reaction so you could always have both the reaction and the movie playing at the same time. Otherwise, I have it about as visible/loud as I could get it.

It really just sits in your mind sometimes. Such a unique series from beginning to end
👍👍👍+👍reaction ‼︎
ありがとうございました!
bro you gotta watch Gurren Lagann, it has mechas and reminds me a lot of Evangelion. It kinda has the same themes but looks at it from a different angle.
i enjoyed your reaction .im glad you love this movie
estube esperando esto mucho tienpo, 😎🍿
Perfecto. Estoy contento y feliz jueves
XD
You should react to another Hideaki Anno/Gainax stuff (Gunbuster, Nadia the secret of blue water, Karekano, Diebuster, FLCL, Shin Godzilla)
I'll look up and check out some of those. Thanks for the suggestions, I've never even heard of any of them
Haha your reaction is so funny🤣
Aayyiiiiivvaaaaa.
How can i see full reaction but with video, god i hate copyright
yeah copyright is kinda the worst. There are few to no cuts in this reaction so you could always have both the reaction and the movie playing at the same time. Otherwise, I have it about as visible/loud as I could get it.
