Devil Jin is really the only Mishima that heavily depends on electric because of how bad he is. Kazuya on the other hand has other good mid options like ff2, cd1+2, etc. to help with his hellsweep vortex and just opening ppl up in general. Reina doesn’t really need electric since she’s a pressure monster, despite the raiden nerf she can still just straight up skip neutral and make you guess, also she has a generic launching df2 with arguably better range. And Jin is Jin lol
The pushback with the electric pretty much makes the plus frames fake as well. Plus the amount of times you'll get misinputs or even like 25 frame electrics or something is insane.
@@DuppyBoii187 true but I think it's not the best thing he can have at the wall when he was given CD1+2 and his new Df3,2,1 for INSANE wall pressure and none of this requires just frame inputs that have to be at least 15 frames.
why should someone do a very very nerfed-complicated-just frame-timing dependant move like a EWGF when people just can interrupt ducking, highcrushing, sidestepping, powercrushing, heat, Rage art in your face. T8 is a game about abusing easy and overpowered stuff.
Totally agree, one of, if not the best move in the game. Wish more Mishima players would just go for it like you do. Guess they are afraid of being step punished, but it’s such a rewarding move, damage and the fact it launches. Always loved EWGF
For one thing, the threat of the electric is enough, you don't have to throw it out that much and people will likely respect it anyway. Besides that, in Tekken 7 kazuya had no neutral tools, which made electric that much more powerful by default. Now that you have neutral tools you don't need to electric so much, you have other options. Since electric is inherently risky for the Kaz most players will lean toward his other tools when they are available.
they're high a good player in higher level will duck and launch it and very steppable if its good timing so a mishima player have to wavedash hard to track their steps thats one of the reason why it shouldn't be abused much
This^ if not duck and launch, duck and punish or side stepped, especially if they have reads on your electric patterns. Electric is really only useful for whiff punishment now or an interrupt tool if you have reads on your opponent and the execution ain't easy.
@@neke9045 electric isn't just useful for whiff and interrupt tool but u can use it for pressure(especially at the wall) but you need to have a gameplan how or when you will mixing them up so you wont get read.
@@SoloPlayerP1 yep that +5 isnt like a lot of other move's +5 - BOTH of you recover pretty quickly so you need to have your mix of another electric or a mid on a perfect read
for me it was simple when you realise that its just not as strong in t8 cuz of all the spammy nonsense its just not worth it. also every character in t8 has massive evasion and its a high so it just gets evaded or eaten. hell power crush heat engagers go through it anyway so whats the point ya know. the only way id consider focusing electric into neutral as a kazuya player would be if it was a mid (ofc it should be mid for all mishimas not just kaz) that way at least i can alter my 5050 from wavedash hellsweep/ws2 to hellsweep/electric. Not saying it has to be a groud hitting mid but just ya know a mid. if safe df2 mid can exist why cant electric imo. at this point the only reason i use electric is in very certain matchups for neutral, for whiff and for punishment as kaz which is ironic cuz he used to be the most electric based mishima
Maybe it’s because I am ass but it’s not worth it sometimes when it can be beat out by a ton of things in the game. Like alot of things can duck under or outright beat electrics which makes the effort of doing them kinda pointless especially for DVJ who doesn’t have many good mids to throw out so people are ducking him alot.
it's not about electric being mid, far from it, it's a really oppressive move when you think about it especially with how fast it is and how high the combo damage is in this game. it's just that people need a lot of practice to master it effectively and to get it out fast, so naturally people tend to use the easier moves.
In 7 it tracked like crazy and seemed to recovered faster. You could just throw it out whenever. Its still one of the best moves just have to know when and how to use it
I'm not sure about the frame data but I feel like electrics either were more plus in 7, or recovered faster on block, which allowed you to pressure an opponent with multiple electrics in a row. In 8, electrics pushback your opponent a lot, and I feel like Mishimas in general have more tools that allow them to play in a way that abandons the old "electric my opponent 'till it lands since its plus af". For example, Reina realistically doesn't *need* to electric, as she has tools like ff2, df2, uf4, fc df4. Devil Jin has can cans, u4, ss2, ff2 as well. Kazuya is the one Mishima that I feel still relies on electrics the most, obviously because he has no other launcher off neutral except for EWGF (when he's not in heat). Jin has cancans, ff2, zen u1, uf4, and f4. I think the best way to use EWGF in this game is too simply use it as a whiff punishment tool, because this game has a lot of high crushing moves that simply beat repeated EWGFs.
Reason i dont use it often is because jin and devil jin have a weird input compared to kazuya who can do a shortcut version which I can do comfortably.

I spam the shit out of electric when I was playing kaz up to the point that they fear my electric and not my hellsweep, I think there's just too many casuals nowadays
I absolutely despise mishima players (Except Devil Jin). Not just because they literally wavu in front of your face the moment the round starts, but the fact that they have good mids and long range moves that fit really well with Electrics. Electrics are literally the most broken move in the game (other than drags qcf4) pushes back, +5. comes out at 11 frames. Like you literally cant whiff punish an electric even if you see it coming because the whiff recovery is literally like a Yoshi poison breath. Im sick of tired of them defending that mishimas are trash because they have no mids or "you're just bad because I have executiona and you don't" Execution is overrated and is not hard at all. Mishimas now have very very very strong mids except Devil Jin. It literally doesn't even feel like you're fighting mishimas anymore bceause you can't step ff2 consistently, fucking electrics tracks left and launches you if you dont sidestep block when you're playing against a kazuya or reina or heihachi because they now have literally all the tools in the world. Yes im ranting because im just sick and tired of Kazuya players saying my characters cheap with their appaling 50 defense because they literally dont need defense to win. Thats the difference between tekken 8 and tekken 7 mishimas. Tekken 7 needed defense and timings, now tekken 8 is just the same flowchart over and over again 50/50s casino time when under wavedash pressure. Pisses me off. To the devil jin mains that read this, i truely respect you because you're the actual definition of a mishima player.
Me, a Kazuya player, used to do electrics all the time in past Tekken games... now, for this character at least, it's not worth the risk. People consider it an 11 frame launcher, but in reality it's a 15 frame one if we consider the input frames... and that is just to long for a game as fast as this one... it also can't be buffered, like King's Giant Swing, for example... and it's so damn easy to make it whiff. Yes, it has good damage, and you can use it if you catch your opponent on -15, but you better not miss the proper input startup. If on block, you do the regular God Wind, you get punished; if you do the EWGF, your opponent backs so much you can't frame trap it. Also, it's not a very good combo filler, unless it comes from another electric launcher. Reina's df2 from neutral is a better option since it doesn't have the wave dash giveaway and it's also a 15 frame launcher. All of Kazuya's natural launchers have giveaways easy to spot on: the EWGD, ff3, ws2, ws1,2... the rest of his launchers are all conditioned-based from CH. He does need a proper 15 frame animation mid launcher from neutral like most characters, that's why most of Kaz' playerbase has to rely on mindgames... and you don't do mind games with highs and lows, you do it with mids and lows, hence why you don't see the EWGF that often. It's still the coolest move in the game though.
